Chapter 003

Lamar was born to wealthy parents, Mr and Mrs Jack Anderson but they were assassinated by some unidentified men when Lamar was a little boy.

Lamar witnessed the horrible death of his parents. It was a torture to him. His parents cried begging for their killers to spare their lives.

The flashback……….

“Lamar, baby where are you? Enough of these hide-and-seek games, it's time to have dinner. Please baby come out,” little Lamar’s mom called, urging him to stop the hide-and-seek game.

But Lamar wasn't responding, the father, Mr. Anderson got curious and followed his wife to the back of the house. What they saw sends shivers down their spine. A group of fearless men in black were pointing a gun at little Lamar's head.

“OMG! Lamar’s mom exclaimed out of shock. Her baby was being threatened and there was nothing she could do about it.

“Mo… my, please help me.” little Lamar cried.

Mr Anderson couldn't take the sight of his only child in that position so he knelt down and begged, “Please let go of my boy, he's too innocent, please don't hurt him. Tell me what you want, I promise to give you.”

The assassins glanced at each other and pushed Lamar toward his mother who had joined her husband in kneeling. As she grabbed Lamar, they immediately pointed the gun at Mr. Anderson.

“We didn't come here for your son Mr Anderson, you are a good man but you have enemies, and they want you dead.”

Mr. Anderson kept begging, going as far as making promises to them but they were not after his money but only to do one simple task, kill him.

“I’ll give……” just before he could finish his words, there was a sound. PEW! PEW!! Mr. Anderson dropped dead on the ground.

Mrs. Anderson screamed and rushed to where her husband lay in his own pool of blood. She shook him, urging him to wake up, staining her body with his blood.

“Get away from him! Mrs. Anderson heard the voice of her husband’s killer. But she paid him no attention. She was in great pain and no amount of threat would make her leave her dead husband’s side.

A gun was also pointed at her head but she didn't care. Mistakenly, the trigger was pulled, and BAAM! She was shot.

“Mommy! Lamar ran to where his mother lay also in her own pull of blood. Shaking her, he cried, “Mommy, please wake up. Don't leave me,”

Before the assassins left, they didn't want to kill little Lamar so they knocked him out. Resulting in a very bad head injury which caused him half of his childhood memories.

That day was the beginning of Lamar’s pain…

Having passed through a memory loss, Lamar wasn't able to remember clearly about his childhood, and his parents. But he knew they were killed and not what people were saying that he was abandoned.

Lamar was rescued by a passerby as he wandered the street, crying. The old lady couldn't take care of Lamar so she took him to the Orphanage.

Lamar lived a quite lonely life back at the orphanage, he kept having flashes about his parents and cries all the time, and because of this, no one wanted to adopt him.

Lamar was severely suppressed and bullied by the other kids in the orphanage. Lamar continued living his life in isolation. People called him weird and in the process, he ran away from the orphanage home.

Lamar survived on the street until he was seventeen……

He began to move on, he started doing minimal jobs to make ends meet. He was content with the little he was making.

On his way back from work one evening, he met someone who offered him a job, it was on a construction site. The job was not like any other job you had ever done since he got out of the orphanage home. Although they pay well, well enough to take Lamar off the street. But then, it was hectic.

Lamar did this job for eight years. Until his 26th birthday. He was coming out of a restaurant where he got himself chicken wings, as a birthday gift. just what he could afford.

He met Mr. Andrew coming out from the same restaurant, unknowingly, his wallet fell off and Lamar was opportune to pick it up and give it back to him. Mr. Andrew was impressed, so he called Lamar and made him a marriage proposal.

Lamar was excited about marrying a wealthy man’s daughter, he felt it was a safe haven for him. He quickly agreed and now, here he was stranded and hungry. Back to how he started.

“Mom, Dad, At 27 years old I'm still suffering, homeless, and frustrated. My life had been a total torture since you left me.” Lamar muttered as he could feel his consciousness slipping away. Suddenly, he felt a sharp pain coming from his waist.

So, he slowly rolled over and searched his back pocket, it was the golden ring his mother had slid onto his finger before she finally gave up the ghost. “Oh, you're still here, I thought I had lost you,” Lamar said as he glanced at the ugly-looking ring.

Lamar thought he had lost the ring, despite the ring’s ugliness it was his precious possession. The only physical memories of his late parents. And he had taken it everywhere he went even without knowing its significance.

As he was staring at the ancient ring, a thought crossed Lamar’s mind. He was hungry and the ancient ring could be pawned and he could make money out of it.

Slowly, he got up and proceeded to the mall. On getting there, his ring was rejected; nobody was willing to swap it for money. They thought he had stolen it, obviously, Lamar was looking sick, and dirty.

Frustrated, he slid the ring on his finger and left the mall’s complex when he suddenly heard his name. It was like a whisper, barely audible. Lamar turned around to see a man in his fifties, with gray hair gazing at him, especially at the ring.

He looked polished, his neatly well-tailored suits screamed wealth.

Lamar got curious, "Sir, do you want to buy my ring? I can sell it for a fair price." Lamar asked, his eyes pleading.
