“Of course, I did call him. If you have any doubts, I can call him now if you want.”

She waved her hand dismissively, “Never mind, it’s fine.”

Gerald heaved a sigh of relief, he was almost caught again. How long would he keep on with his fake plays?

First, he was lying that his dad helped her secure a contract and again was claiming he called Mr. Ryan Daniels when Victor’s men wanted to take her away.

When they arrived at Jerold enterprise, Monica glanced at her mirror for the last time before stepping out of the car.

“Thank you. You can go back, I don’t know how long the meeting with the manager would last. I wouldn’t want to be a burden to you, I will find my way home.” She uttered politely.

“You should give me a call when you are done,” Gerald intoned.

Monica nodded, as she turned to face the tall building. She took a deep breath as she ambled towards the entrance.

She made her way to the conference room, where she found Christopher and Winifred, two of her most trusted staff members, they were all waiting for her.

Monica found a seat, as she waited for the chairman of Jerold, Mr. James Clark

James had been in charge of Jerold for a decade; he was from a well-respected family. His family might not been among the elite families in Auburn, but since he became the chairman of Jerold, he has paved the way for his family.

Just as he walked inside, they all rosed to their feet with their head bowed respectfully.

James nodded, his presence commanding authority. He sat down and gestured for others to do the same.

He cleared his throat, as he mouthed. “Good morning, everyone; I called for this meeting with Ray Construction because we need to finalise the deal and make it official.”

He paused momentarily and stared at the faces before him. “Ray Construction will be handling our new project just as the president requested. A sum of a Hundred million will be allocated to them for the project, and they can start when they feel fit. We wouldn’t want any complaints but a good job from them.”

He then turned to Monica, who had been listening intently to his words. “I believe you understand.”

Monica nodded, “We are always ready,”

“Alright, since the CEO had said that. I believe we should conclude the deal.” He grinned.

Monica’s eyes lit in excitement. Ray Construction wasn’t amongst the best construction companies, but they had managed to secure a deal with a top company like Jerold.

When the deal becomes official it will boost their reputation.

“Mr. James, I would like to know if the president will be available during the process of the construction.”

Mr. James furrowed his brow in confusion, “Are you scared or something?”

She shook her head, “No, I am not.”

Monica was curious to know if the mysterious president of Jerold would surface. There have been rumours that the president of Jerold is a woman, and some claimed he was an old man who was battling health issues and wanted his identity to be kept hidden.

“You don’t have to worry about the president, he might or might not be available. What you should focus on at the moment is delivering your job.” He replied.

Monica sighed, she felt the chairman might have misinterpreted her words. “You don’t have to think too much, we are going to give our best; the president didn’t make a wrong choice; Ray Construction will deliver it best.”

At the moment, The two companies sealed the deal. With the money been transferred for them to begin the construction. All necessary documents were signed, and the official page of Jerold posted the news about the contract.

Outside the company, Monica allows the breeze to wash over her face. This was a dream come true; she was more than excited.

She exhaled softly and turned towards Christopher, who kept a smiling face. “Get everything ready after we have inspected the land. We’ll commence work immediately. Do you understand?”

“Okay, Ms. Monica,” he replied.

“Ma’am, Jerold’s official account just posted the deal. We are heading high.” Winifred informed, as her small face was engulfed in jubilation.

Monica nodded, her family is about to be known in Auburn. “We shouldn’t get too excited, let’s focus on getting our job done and giving our best for this project, after which we can celebrate.”

Christopher and Winifred nodded in understanding.

Just when they were about to leave, Mr. James Clark stepped out of the building.

“Ms Monica,” he called; Monica and her staff were confused.

They couldn’t help but wonder why the chairman would step out of the office.

Mr James controlled his breath, “we forgot something during the deal.”

“What is it? Is there any problem?” Monica asked, her heart began to beat.

She narrowed her gaze towards the figure standing behind the chairman as she tried to read her expression.

“There is no problem.” He said, “The president asked us to give you a car, as part of the deal.”

“A car!” she exclaimed in surprise.

“Yes, A car. He wants you to feel free while working on the project.” Mr James didn’t know what to say but had to spew something.

Monica was still in bewilderment; she couldn’t believe she would be getting a car; she felt happy but kept her excitement and composure.

She was taken to the parking lot, where she was shown a Ford Explorer ST 4WD. Her jaw dropped in disbelief, Monica pinched herself to be sure she wasn’t dreaming.

“Here is the key to your new car, Ms. Monica.” He said handing her the key.

Monica felt something was amiss, “How did they know I was planning on getting a car? Could the president be someone I know?” She thought.

“Thank you so much. I appreciate it.” She smiled as she glanced at the car.

“You can keep it even after the project, the president thinks highly of you.”

She couldn’t help but nod and maintain her smile.

James Clark mouthed, “I will head back to my office, contact me if you need anything.”

“Okay.” She muttered as she watched the man walk away with his secretary.

“I can’t believe this, Ms. Monica. Do you know the president?” Winifred asked.

Monica shook her head, “No, I don’t.”

“He might be someone who admires not only her work but her beauty.” Christopher teased.

Winifred nudged him with her elbow, “Don’t say that.”

“You can say whatever you want; I believe I am beautiful, and I deserve something like this.”

Monica and her staff left the company not only with the contract but her new car. Monica still felt unease and was desperate to know the president of Jerold.
