Monica stormed into the living room, with her face flushed with anger. Her heart was pounding, and her mind was spinning with the realization of what almost happened.

Mrs Sarah sat on the couch, unsure of what to say to her daughter when their gaze met. She knew Monica was mad at her, but she was her mother, and her daughter was not supposed to be.

“Mom,” Monica shouted, her voice was sharp and dangerous. “Why would you? Do you have any idea what almost happened to me? Do you have any clue how close I was to being taken away by those me? Do you know how embarrassed I was when I was dragged out of the restaurant?”

Her mother didn't fly; she didn't look at Mon, who was ranting. Mrs. Sarah took the magazine from the desk, flipping through the pages, rustling like they held her answers.

“I didn't do anything? It was just a misunderstanding.” Mrs Sarah muttered, not bothering to make eye contact.

“You didn't? What nonsense misunderstanding.” Monica countered, as her hands balled into a fist. Her voice was a mix of disbelief and fury. “All because of you; those men almost took Me to meet with Victor. Mom, you almost ruined my life, all because you couldn't keep your hands off that damn wheel.”

Mrs Sarah sighed, flipping another page in the magazine. “I am happy you didn't get into trouble; you should relax and stop overreacting.”

Monica felt her chest tighten and her rage bubbling inside her. She couldn't believe her mother's last comment. “Overreacting, did you hear yourself.” She paced in frustration. “It was your gambling habit that gave Dad a stroke; it was this same habit I got tied to that lowlife Austin. Where do you expect me to get a billion dollars to clear our debts?”

Monica's face twisted in rage, if they should sell all their everything they owe, they wouldn't be able to come out with a billion dollars.

“You should be grateful Gerald called Mr. Ryan, who knows what would have happened to us.”

“I knew I had someone like Gerald, who is connected with the Bensons. Let me remind you, The money I owe is three million dollars and not a billion dollars.”

She paused, “You should be happy, you are fine. All it will take is just a phone call from Mr. Benson and Mr. Ryan. No big deal.”

Monica swallowed hard, her breath shallow and she stared at her mother. “The big deal is that I almost lost everything, my career, my life, my reputation, and my freedom. You should stop gambling before we lose everything.”

“You are so dramatic, Monica. Yes, you saved me. I should be thanking you.” Mrs. Sarah threw the magazine on the table.

Monica's vision became blurry, she didn't understand why her mother would always try to cause her pain. This wasn't the first time; She exhaled deeply, sitting by the side with her head facing downwards and her hand above her head.

Mrs. Sarah just walked out towards her room leaving Monica in her thoughts.

Austin's words caught her attention; she noticed how he claimed Gerald was always taking the credit, and many thoughts ran through her mind.

" Could he be telling the truth? Is Gerald taking the credit as he claimed?” She thought inwardly.

She shook her head; there was no way he could even get Mr. Ryan's contact. Mr. Ryan wouldn't even have any business to do with someone like Austin.

Gerald's family are capable of doing anything they want; they can pull Mr. Ryan out. She believes Gerald could have informed his father about the situation.

If Gerald's family were as connected and influential as they claimed, Mr. Benson would have called Victor himself or would have sent someone. Is Her hatred for Austin stopping her from seeing the truth?

The following morning, Monica snubbed her mother as she came downstairs. She was still upset with her mother for almost ruining her life.

The doorbell rang out, and Mrs. Sarah sauntered towards the entrance.

Standing there was Gerald in a black suit; his face wasn't looking bright; he had a red spot on his lips.

They both exchanged pleasantry, as Gerald walked into the room. Monica didn't wait for him to sit or come closer. She dragged him out of the house.

Gerald was confused with the way she acted, he narrowed his gaze at Monica. He could tell she was upset. They got into the car, and he revved the car engine as they drove out of the mansion.

“What's happening? Did you have an argument with your mom?” Gerald asked, with his eyes shifting from Monica to the road.

“I have something to ask, I need to know the truth?” Monica asked.

“Alright, Go ahead.”

She exhaled softly, “Were you the one who called Mr. Ryan?”

There was a moment of silence between them, as they exchanged glances.

Is she beginning to doubt him?

Just as Anderson had anticipated, his reason for paying for Lucy was to make Austin look like the black sheep among them.Knowing if Lucy didn’t bring a gift, she would he judged with Austin, but now she had cleared her name. He knew he would use this opportunity to humiliate Austin and keep his face clean before Lucy.Austin was about to utter a word when Anderson spoke out. “Patricia, there is no need to ask him for a gift when he is not one of us. Besides, what else can a deadbeat loser get for you that would surpass what I have given you for the night?”Patricia and her friends chuckled, “You are right, I don’t think he can even afford the bag or the watch. Let’s just forget about it.”“What do you want?” Austin asked.Patricia furrowed her brow staring at him, “Did he just ask me what I want?”Austin nodded. “You heard me right. Name it.”Patricia let out a mocking laughter, knowing it would be impossible for Austin to get her what she wanted. “Austin, come off it. There is n

“You shouldn’t have said that,” Lucy whispered.“Why? Don’t I look like a CEO?” Austin asked.Lucy heaved a deep sigh, not wanting to say anything that would make him feel badAnderson sneered, “You can never be the CEO of Jerold. The CEO of Jerold is an old man who likes to keep his identity private, not someone like you.” He then turned to his friends. “Don’t mind him, he is just a roadside doctor famous for being a liar and tricking people to get money from them.”Anderson and his friends burst into laughter.“You should have said it from the beginning. Can you heal someone with asthma? Were you the one who produced the magic pill that Lucy is using to trend?”Lucy felt a pang of hurt and guilt seeing how Austin had been mocked. However, Austin was unfazed by their words. His gaze met Lucy’s. He grasped she wasn’t happy with the scene happening around them.“Lucy, I know you have always wanted to know who saved you that night, and how you woke up in a different place.”His words m

Austin and Lucy walked into the restaurant, and they had managed to slip out of the hospital, avoiding restaurants close by due to the incident.Just as they entered, Lucy was welcomed by the presence of some familiar faces, and Austin only knew Anderson. He had remembered him from the night when he took Lucy.Lucy was stunned seeing him and others there. “What are you doing here?” She asked Anderson who was also surprised to see her. “We are celebrating, and I was about to call you. Since you are here I don't see any reason why you shouldn't join us.”Lucy was puzzled, she had come here to have a discussion with Austin and not for their celebration. Genevieve, her college friends waved at her. “Lucy, come join us. We are happy to see you.”Lucy looked at Austin, unsure of what to say. He shrugged, and they both walked towards the table filled with friends and old college friends. Anderson felt uneasy seeing Austin with Lucy, he suspected something was going on between them. After, Dr. Lucy left the room. She strode into her office, still amused by the effect of the pill. She had done some medical checks on Mr. Prescott, and his illness had vanished as if it had never been there before. Her mind raced as she stared at the pills. Then she thought about something. She left her office and then walked into one of the wards. She found a little boy, who broke his spine after an accident. She knew the report of the boy, he wouldn’t be able to walk again, and she knew the effect of the pill. She decided to try it on someone else.“Nurse, can you give me a moment? I need to check something, it’s urgent.” She said,The nurse nodded, taking a step backwards as she watched Dr. Lucy gingerly put the pills into the mouth of the boy, whose face was pale. “You are going to be fine.” She whispered. The nurse looked puzzled, “What’s that, Dr. Lucy?” It’s a magical pill, I got it from a friend. It can cure even conditions already deemed important to be treated.” She cou

Claire was caught off guard, she didn’t see that coming. But she knew she had to stand up for herself before it was too late.“What the hell are you talking about? Are you trying to accuse me? Don’t try to shift the blame, we are going to sue you if anything should happen to him.”Dr. Martin couldn’t stand the conversation, so he spoke out. “Young man, you should be worried about what you have done! Instead of apologising, you are blabbing. Do you know what would happen to you if anything should happen to Mr. Prescott?”“Nothing will happen to my father, Dr. Martin. Austin’s pill is authentic and it can cure any illness.”“I am not surprised you are defending him. This was all your plan to kill my husband, wasn’t it? Then you can snatch his remaining possessions!” Austin and Hannah frowned. She looked at her stepmother with disgust. Did you just say I want to snatch what are already his remaining possessions? Do you even have anything left? Do you even know what you are talking abou

Dr. Lucy startled, as she struggled with her words. She never imagined that someone would barge in on her at that moment.“What was that? What’s happening, Dr. Lucy?” He asked again, looking closer at the patient’s pale face.He was extremely furious when he noticed she had given him something, but what made him mad was the fact that he couldn’t tell what it was. Lucy hesitated for a moment, as she maintained her composure. “I gave him a magical pill.”“What pill,” Lucy showed the pill, and Dr. Martin looked at her with disbelief and disappointment, which was evident in his gaze. “Are you okay? Do you want to kill the patient? What kind of pill is that? Since when did you start giving magic pills to patients?”Lucy, for a moment, was lost for words; she didn’t know when she was moved to give the pill to Mr. Prescott, the deed had already been done.“It will help restore his health.” She spoke despite the fear and uncertainty that crept into her voice.Dr. Martin was agitated, “How
