Monica stormed into the living room, with her face flushed with anger. Her heart was pounding, and her mind was spinning with the realization of what almost happened.

Mrs Sarah sat on the couch, unsure of what to say to her daughter when their gaze met. She knew Monica was mad at her, but she was her mother, and her daughter was not supposed to be.

“Mom,” Monica shouted, her voice was sharp and dangerous. “Why would you? Do you have any idea what almost happened to me? Do you have any clue how close I was to being taken away by those me? Do you know how embarrassed I was when I was dragged out of the restaurant?”

Her mother didn't fly; she didn't look at Mon, who was ranting. Mrs. Sarah took the magazine from the desk, flipping through the pages, rustling like they held her answers.

“I didn't do anything? It was just a misunderstanding.” Mrs Sarah muttered, not bothering to make eye contact.

“You didn't? What nonsense misunderstanding.” Monica countered, as her hands balled into a fist. Her voice was a mix of disbelief and fury. “All because of you; those men almost took Me to meet with Victor. Mom, you almost ruined my life, all because you couldn't keep your hands off that damn wheel.”

Mrs Sarah sighed, flipping another page in the magazine. “I am happy you didn't get into trouble; you should relax and stop overreacting.”

Monica felt her chest tighten and her rage bubbling inside her. She couldn't believe her mother's last comment. “Overreacting, did you hear yourself.” She paced in frustration. “It was your gambling habit that gave Dad a stroke; it was this same habit I got tied to that lowlife Austin. Where do you expect me to get a billion dollars to clear our debts?”

Monica's face twisted in rage, if they should sell all their everything they owe, they wouldn't be able to come out with a billion dollars.

“You should be grateful Gerald called Mr. Ryan, who knows what would have happened to us.”

“I knew I had someone like Gerald, who is connected with the Bensons. Let me remind you, The money I owe is three million dollars and not a billion dollars.”

She paused, “You should be happy, you are fine. All it will take is just a phone call from Mr. Benson and Mr. Ryan. No big deal.”

Monica swallowed hard, her breath shallow and she stared at her mother. “The big deal is that I almost lost everything, my career, my life, my reputation, and my freedom. You should stop gambling before we lose everything.”

“You are so dramatic, Monica. Yes, you saved me. I should be thanking you.” Mrs. Sarah threw the magazine on the table.

Monica's vision became blurry, she didn't understand why her mother would always try to cause her pain. This wasn't the first time; She exhaled deeply, sitting by the side with her head facing downwards and her hand above her head.

Mrs. Sarah just walked out towards her room leaving Monica in her thoughts.

Austin's words caught her attention; she noticed how he claimed Gerald was always taking the credit, and many thoughts ran through her mind.

" Could he be telling the truth? Is Gerald taking the credit as he claimed?” She thought inwardly.

She shook her head; there was no way he could even get Mr. Ryan's contact. Mr. Ryan wouldn't even have any business to do with someone like Austin.

Gerald's family are capable of doing anything they want; they can pull Mr. Ryan out. She believes Gerald could have informed his father about the situation.

If Gerald's family were as connected and influential as they claimed, Mr. Benson would have called Victor himself or would have sent someone. Is Her hatred for Austin stopping her from seeing the truth?

The following morning, Monica snubbed her mother as she came downstairs. She was still upset with her mother for almost ruining her life.

The doorbell rang out, and Mrs. Sarah sauntered towards the entrance.

Standing there was Gerald in a black suit; his face wasn't looking bright; he had a red spot on his lips.

They both exchanged pleasantry, as Gerald walked into the room. Monica didn't wait for him to sit or come closer. She dragged him out of the house.

Gerald was confused with the way she acted, he narrowed his gaze at Monica. He could tell she was upset. They got into the car, and he revved the car engine as they drove out of the mansion.

“What's happening? Did you have an argument with your mom?” Gerald asked, with his eyes shifting from Monica to the road.

“I have something to ask, I need to know the truth?” Monica asked.

“Alright, Go ahead.”

She exhaled softly, “Were you the one who called Mr. Ryan?”

There was a moment of silence between them, as they exchanged glances.

Is she beginning to doubt him?

Never, he is trying to do something fake so you will get to reward him.”Austin smiled, “What’s cruel is denying a soul her peace. She’s not evil.”“I can handle this, your son is suffering from an autoimmune disease. And not some spirit thing. Dr. Oliver and I will handle this, you can send the man away. Besides you said the priest did his job.”The priest was a well-respected man, whom Vincent paid millions of dollars just to come over to his house.
