“Remember to follow the instructions, no alcohol for three days. Drink enough water to help flush away the remaining toxic. If you notice any unusual feelings, you shouldn’t fail to contact me.” Austin’s voice was smooth and firm.

“Thank you, Mr. Davis. We appreciate what you have done for my brother. We have transferred a hundred thousand dollars into your account as a token of appreciation.” Vivian Veron uttered.

“Thank you,” Austin replied as he watched the siblings walk into the car.

He heaved a sigh of relief, as he walked towards the large bowl to wash his hands. On getting there he received a call from James Clark.

“I am listening? Did she accept it?”

“Yes, Mr. Davis. But she asked about you during the deal.”

“And what was your reply?”

“I kept your identity confidential. She doesn’t know you are the President of Jerold.”

Austin sighed before he responded, “That’s fine, make sure she gets the best support for the project and don’t try to pressure her. I believe she can do better.”

“Okay, sir,” he replied.

Austin ended the call, smiling at what he had done. He knew it would be difficult for her, so he made plans to support her. He knew how difficult she could be but wasn’t going to give up on her. He would try to obey the old man’s last wish.

But he wouldn’t force her if she didn’t want to respect her father’s words.

Just as he was about to take a step, his phone buzzed. Austin furrowed his brow, as he stared at the number.

“What’s happening, Charlie? You are supposed to be back, what’s taking you long.” Austin spoke softly.

“Are you Mr. Austin, his guardian?” An unfamiliar voice spoke out.

Austin glanced at the number, “Where is Charlie.” His tone changed immediately. “I am Austin Davis,”

“Charlie was brought to the City general hospital a few minutes ago. Your presence is needed urgently.” She sounded calm and polite.

“What happened to him,” Austin asked as his mind began to beat.

“You will get to know when you get here.” With that the call got terminated.

Austin rushed to start his car but the engine refused to be brought to life. Without hesitation, he sprang out. His mind was covered in fear and panic.

Charlie had become part of him; the young man might not be related to him, but since he brought Charlie home. He had come to love and care for him like his blood.

He made sure he didn’t lack anything, even sending him to the best college.

Austin found the nearest bus stop, his patient was wearing thin. As he awaits for the bus to arrive.

Suddenly he found a young lady, standing by the side. She looked worried, but her beauty was something to write about. She was Hannah Prescott.

“I am confused, I don’t know if I should buy or hold. My father is not on good terms with the mayor. It’s hard for us to get a clue where he could start the project.”

She kept the conversation on the phone going, her face was etched with worries and uncertainty. She was worried that her family might miss out on the new project.

“You should buy more properties on the west, the mayor will start the development there soon,” Austin spoke out.

She raised her brow, “Excuse me, who are you and why do you have to interfere in my conversation.” She said angrily.

“I am sorry, I am only trying to help you.” He replied.

“I don’t need your help, you should mind your business.”

Austin shrugged, “That’s fine, but try to trust me. In a few days, the mayor will make the announcement, and you wouldn’t want to miss out. Think how happy your father would be when he knows his daughter was able to get her hand on some properties before the announcement.”

Hannah Prescott furrowed furiously, “Why should I trust you. Who are you?”

“Who I am doesn’t matter at the moment, and the choice is yours to make. Good luck,” he waved at her before rushing into the bus.

Hannah Prescott was left in confusion; she couldn’t help but wonder who he was.

Her mind raced with several thoughts.

“Who was that?” The caller asked.

“I don’t know him, some random dude.” She paused, “You know what, I think I should take his advice. Call David and inform him to Invest in the east.”

“Are you sure about this? You should think before you make a decision; your father will not be happy if you fail.”

“Just do what I ask. We aren’t investing all our money but just 50 million dollars.”

“Okay, I am on it.”

Meanwhile, Austin made his way into the hospital. The scent of antiseptic filled the air. Doctors and nurses bustled from one corner to another.

Austin walked towards the counter, “I am Austin Davis; I received a call that my brother was brought to the hospital not long ago.”

The nurse didn’t look at him; her face was fixed on her laptop as she kept her hand busy.

“His name.”

“Charlie Davis.” He replied.

“The third room on the second floor, room 135,” she whispered.

“Thank you,” Austin took the elevator when he got to the room. He found Charlie lying on the bed; his right leg were wrapped in bandages, and his face was covered with bruises.

Austin’s face turned cold and his anger boiled within him.

“Young master.” Charlie managed to speak. At the sight of Austin, Charlie began to cry, which left Austin heartbroken

Charlie seem to choke in tears

“What happened to you? Who did this to you.” Austin asked, angrily. “Don’t lie to me.”

The door swung open, revealing the doctor, an grey hair man in his sixties.

“Are you Austin Davis?” He asked.

“Yes, I am.” He said, “What happened to him?”
