“Remember to follow the instructions, no alcohol for three days. Drink enough water to help flush away the remaining toxic. If you notice any unusual feelings, you shouldn’t fail to contact me.” Austin’s voice was smooth and firm.

“Thank you, Mr. Davis. We appreciate what you have done for my brother. We have transferred a hundred thousand dollars into your account as a token of appreciation.” Vivian Veron uttered.

“Thank you,” Austin replied as he watched the siblings walk into the car.

He heaved a sigh of relief, as he walked towards the large bowl to wash his hands. On getting there he received a call from James Clark.

“I am listening? Did she accept it?”

“Yes, Mr. Davis. But she asked about you during the deal.”

“And what was your reply?”

“I kept your identity confidential. She doesn’t know you are the President of Jerold.”

Austin sighed before he responded, “That’s fine, make sure she gets the best support for the project and don’t try to pressure her. I believe she can do better.”

“Okay, sir,” he replied.

Austin ended the call, smiling at what he had done. He knew it would be difficult for her, so he made plans to support her. He knew how difficult she could be but wasn’t going to give up on her. He would try to obey the old man’s last wish.

But he wouldn’t force her if she didn’t want to respect her father’s words.

Just as he was about to take a step, his phone buzzed. Austin furrowed his brow, as he stared at the number.

“What’s happening, Charlie? You are supposed to be back, what’s taking you long.” Austin spoke softly.

“Are you Mr. Austin, his guardian?” An unfamiliar voice spoke out.

Austin glanced at the number, “Where is Charlie.” His tone changed immediately. “I am Austin Davis,”

“Charlie was brought to the City general hospital a few minutes ago. Your presence is needed urgently.” She sounded calm and polite.

“What happened to him,” Austin asked as his mind began to beat.

“You will get to know when you get here.” With that the call got terminated.

Austin rushed to start his car but the engine refused to be brought to life. Without hesitation, he sprang out. His mind was covered in fear and panic.

Charlie had become part of him; the young man might not be related to him, but since he brought Charlie home. He had come to love and care for him like his blood.

He made sure he didn’t lack anything, even sending him to the best college.

Austin found the nearest bus stop, his patient was wearing thin. As he awaits for the bus to arrive.

Suddenly he found a young lady, standing by the side. She looked worried, but her beauty was something to write about. She was Hannah Prescott.

“I am confused, I don’t know if I should buy or hold. My father is not on good terms with the mayor. It’s hard for us to get a clue where he could start the project.”

She kept the conversation on the phone going, her face was etched with worries and uncertainty. She was worried that her family might miss out on the new project.

“You should buy more properties on the west, the mayor will start the development there soon,” Austin spoke out.

She raised her brow, “Excuse me, who are you and why do you have to interfere in my conversation.” She said angrily.

“I am sorry, I am only trying to help you.” He replied.

“I don’t need your help, you should mind your business.”

Austin shrugged, “That’s fine, but try to trust me. In a few days, the mayor will make the announcement, and you wouldn’t want to miss out. Think how happy your father would be when he knows his daughter was able to get her hand on some properties before the announcement.”

Hannah Prescott furrowed furiously, “Why should I trust you. Who are you?”

“Who I am doesn’t matter at the moment, and the choice is yours to make. Good luck,” he waved at her before rushing into the bus.

Hannah Prescott was left in confusion; she couldn’t help but wonder who he was.

Her mind raced with several thoughts.

“Who was that?” The caller asked.

“I don’t know him, some random dude.” She paused, “You know what, I think I should take his advice. Call David and inform him to Invest in the east.”

“Are you sure about this? You should think before you make a decision; your father will not be happy if you fail.”

“Just do what I ask. We aren’t investing all our money but just 50 million dollars.”

“Okay, I am on it.”

Meanwhile, Austin made his way into the hospital. The scent of antiseptic filled the air. Doctors and nurses bustled from one corner to another.

Austin walked towards the counter, “I am Austin Davis; I received a call that my brother was brought to the hospital not long ago.”

The nurse didn’t look at him; her face was fixed on her laptop as she kept her hand busy.

“His name.”

“Charlie Davis.” He replied.

“The third room on the second floor, room 135,” she whispered.

“Thank you,” Austin took the elevator when he got to the room. He found Charlie lying on the bed; his right leg were wrapped in bandages, and his face was covered with bruises.

Austin’s face turned cold and his anger boiled within him.

“Young master.” Charlie managed to speak. At the sight of Austin, Charlie began to cry, which left Austin heartbroken

Charlie seem to choke in tears

“What happened to you? Who did this to you.” Austin asked, angrily. “Don’t lie to me.”

The door swung open, revealing the doctor, an grey hair man in his sixties.

“Are you Austin Davis?” He asked.

“Yes, I am.” He said, “What happened to him?”

He knew he would use this opportunity to humiliate Austin and keep his face clean before Lucy.Austin was about to utter a word when Anderson spoke out. “Patricia, there is no need to ask him for a gift when he is not one of us. Besides, what else can a deadbeat loser get for you that would surpass what I have given you for the night?”Patricia and her friends chuckled, “You are right, I don’t think he can even afford the bag or the watch. Let’s just forget about it.”“What do you want?” Austin asked.Patricia furrowed her brow staring at him, “Did he just ask me what I want?”Austin nodded. “You heard me right. Name it.”Patricia let out a mocking laughter, knowing it would be impossible for Austin to get her what she wanted. “Austin, come off it. There is n

“You shouldn’t have said that,” Lucy whispered.“Why? Don’t I look like a CEO?” Austin asked.Lucy heaved a deep sigh, not wanting to say anything that would make him feel badAnderson sneered, “You can never be the CEO of Jerold. The CEO of Jerold is an old man who likes to keep his identity private, not someone like you.” He then turned to his friends. “Don’t mind him, he is just a roadside doctor famous for being a liar and tricking people to get money from them.”Anderson and his friends burst into laughter.“You should have said it from the beginning. Can you heal someone with asthma? Were you the one who produced the magic pill that Lucy is using to trend?”Lucy felt a pang of hurt and guilt seeing how Austin had been mocked. However, Austin was unfazed by their words. His gaze met Lucy’s. He grasped she wasn’t happy with the scene happening around them.“Lucy, I know you have always wanted to know who saved you that night, and how you woke up in a different place.”His words m

He had remembered him from the night when he took Lucy.Lucy was stunned seeing him and others there. “What are you doing here?” She asked Anderson who was also surprised to see her. “We are celebrating, and I was about to call you. Since you are here I don't see any reason why you shouldn't join us.”Lucy was puzzled, she had come here to have a discussion with Austin and not for their celebration. Genevieve, her college friends waved at her. “Lucy, come join us. We are happy to see you.”Lucy looked at Austin, unsure of what to say. He shrugged, and they both walked towards the table filled with friends and old college friends. Anderson felt uneasy seeing Austin with Lucy, he suspected something was going on between them. After, Dr. Lucy left the room. She strode into her office, still amused by the effect of the pill. She had done some medical checks on Mr. Prescott, and his illness had vanished as if it had never been there before. Her mind raced as she stared at the pills. Then she thought about something. She left her office and then walked into one of the wards. She found a little boy, who broke his spine after an accident. She knew the report of the boy, he wouldn’t be able to walk again, and she knew the effect of the pill. She decided to try it on someone else.“Nurse, can you give me a moment? I need to check something, it’s urgent.” She said,The nurse nodded, taking a step backwards as she watched Dr. Lucy gingerly put the pills into the mouth of the boy, whose face was pale. “You are going to be fine.” She whispered. The nurse looked puzzled, “What’s that, Dr. Lucy?” It’s a magical pill, I got it from a friend. It can cure even conditions already deemed important to be treated.” She cou

Claire was caught off guard, she didn’t see that coming. But she knew she had to stand up for herself before it was too late.“What the hell are you talking about? Are you trying to accuse me? Don’t try to shift the blame, we are going to sue you if anything should happen to him.”Dr. Martin couldn’t stand the conversation, so he spoke out. “Young man, you should be worried about what you have done! Instead of apologising, you are blabbing. Do you know what would happen to you if anything should happen to Mr. Prescott?”“Nothing will happen to my father, Dr. Martin. Austin’s pill is authentic and it can cure any illness.”“I am not surprised you are defending him. This was all your plan to kill my husband, wasn’t it? Then you can snatch his remaining possessions!” Austin and Hannah frowned. She looked at her stepmother with disgust. Did you just say I want to snatch what are already his remaining possessions? Do you even have anything left? Do you even know what you are talking abou

What’s happening, Dr. Lucy?” He asked again, looking closer at the patient’s pale face.He was extremely furious when he noticed she had given him something, but what made him mad was the fact that he couldn’t tell what it was. Lucy hesitated for a moment, as she maintained her composure. “I gave him a magical pill.”“What pill,” Lucy showed the pill, and Dr. Martin looked at her with disbelief and disappointment, which was evident in his gaze. “Are you okay? Do you want to kill the patient? What kind of pill is that? Since when did you start giving magic pills to patients?”Lucy, for a moment, was lost for words; she didn’t know when she was moved to give the pill to Mr. Prescott, the deed had already been done.“It will help restore his health.” She spoke despite the fear and uncertainty that crept into her voice.Dr. Martin was agitated, “How
