The next morning, Mathis emerged from Calista’s room, looking more refreshed than ever.
It was evident he had thoroughly enjoyed his night with Calista.
As Mathis entered the dining room, he saw Oberon had prepared breakfast for him.
Oberon greeted him warmly, "Young master, please join me."
"You must be very tired and need to replenish your energy."
Mathis simply smiled and approached the dining table, feeling his hunger take over.
Perfect. A considerate father-in-law was all he needed.
Mathis thought as he reached for a mug of milk.
Taking a sip, however, he immediately spat it out, his face contorted in disgust.
The milk was both scalding hot and oddly sour.
"Damn it!"
He cursed under his breath.
He then grabbed a piece of bread, hoping to salvage his breakfast.
But as he bit into the bread, his eyebrows furrowed involuntarily.
'Is this really fresh bread?'
'Why does it taste stale and moldy?'From its appearance, the food looked freshly served.
Moreover, Oberon appeared calm, enjoying his own breakfast as if nothing was amiss.
Mathis placed the bread down with a look of disappointment.
'It seems the food here isn’t as delicious as in the capital.'
In an instant, Mathis’s good mood vanished.
Meanwhile, in the kitchen, the servants exchanged glances and stifled their laughter after seeing Mathis spit out the milk and lose his appetite.
"Enjoy the stale bread, dear Young Master Huber," one of them whispered.
"He doesn’t deserve to replace Lord Vinsion at all," another added.
"He absolutely deserves stale food!"
"Even worse than that!"
The kitchen staff at Oberon’s house were fully loyal to Rael.
Naturally, they didn’t serve Mathis with genuine care.
Though they couldn’t voice their disappointment over Oberon’s decision, they expressed their support for Rael in the only way they could.
Unluckily, Oberon was completely unaware that Mathis disliked the food served to him.
Instead, Oberon initiated a conversation about Rael.
"Back when Rael worked for Noorhaven, he maintained close relations with many officials in this state," Oberon began.
"I suspect those officials received bribes or other benefits from him," he added, his tone growing more serious.
Oberon fixed his gaze on Mathis.
"I advise you to be cautious."
"It’s very likely that some of these people are still loyal to Rael and may try to cause trouble or undermine you."
“I will make them know that I'm a million times better than Rael. If they dare to go against me, they better be prepared to pay the price.”
Mathis sneered, but still listened intently to Oberon’s words.
Oberon continued, giving further advice.
"Since you’re new to Noorhaven and haven’t yet built a strong public image, it would be wise for you to ruin Rael’s reputation to gain public attention."
"That way, the public will recognize your capability and commitment to managing Noorhaven."
"Once Rael’s reputation is destroyed, your path to governing Noorhaven will become much smoother, including efforts to improve the state’s GDP."
Mathis nodded in agreement with Oberon’s suggestion.
"You’re right, Mr. Hanson."
After his morning had been ruined by stale bread and sour milk, Mathis’s spirits lifted as he envisioned himself soon taking over Noorhaven.
“So, what can I do to ruin Rael’s reputation, Mr. Hanson?”
Oberon beamed as he explained.
“From what I know, Rael owns several properties in Noorhaven’s most luxurious district, called The Gold Throne.”
His face beamed even brighter, as if he had discovered something that could help him turn the tables.
“I suspect Rael keeps many of his mistresses there.”
Mathis raised both eyebrows.
“Really? Haha! That’s outrageous!”
Oberon nodded.
“Yes, exactly. Behind his innocent facade, Rael hides plenty of scandals.”
He continued, offering another suggestion.
“That’s why raiding those properties would be a golden opportunity for you to shine.”
“And the most efficient way is to involve the officials in the process of the raid.”
He grinned widely.
“Afterward, Rael will undoubtedly be remembered forever as a shameless adulterer, a womanizer, a bribe-taker, and a corrupt man.”
Oberon’s idea was so brilliant that Mathis felt extremely optimistic.
“You’re absolutely right, Mr. Hanson.”
“This chance to expose his scandals must not be missed!”
“You’re truly a genius!”
The two men at the dining table laughed together.
Mathis sneered, “After that, no one will ever praise or support Rael again.”
“The only thing he’ll be able to do is cry until he rots in the dungeon.”
Oberon nodded in agreement.
“You’re right, Young Master.”
Once again, they both burst into laughter.
However, the reality was far from what Mathis and Oberon imagined.
That same morning, when Rael woke up, he was greeted by a maid who smiled warmly at him.
“Good morning, Lord Vinsion.”
The beautiful maid set down a basin of water and a towel for Rael.
Politely, she said, “It’s time to freshen up, My Lord.”
After Rael finished his bath, the maid spoke again, “Your breakfast is ready, My Lord.”
Rael then walked toward the dining room.
Upon his arrival, the chef and Joel were already waiting for him at a table filled with luxurious French toast with butter, salmon, wagyu beef, fresh juice, and fruits.
Proudly, Joel said, “My Lord, this is Toby Kelly, the best chef in Noorhaven.”
“I hope his presence here will bring you joy.”
Rael smiled.
“You didn’t have to go to such lengths for me, Mr. Myers.”
“I’m not someone who’s picky about food.”
Rael’s modest and understanding demeanor couldn’t help but touch Joel’s heart once again.
At that moment, Toby spoke up warmly, “My Lord, please try my cooking.”
Rael nodded.
“Alright. Let’s have breakfast.”
However, in the middle of the luxurious breakfast, Joel’s smartphone rang, as if intending to disrupt the harmonious morning.
Joel reached for his smartphone, and the screen displayed the name Mathis Huber.

Make sure you report to me if you see any movement from Lord Vinsion’s subordinates. If there are any.”They all nodded in unison. “Understood.”Not long after, news of the illegal immigrants’ entry quickly spread because many officials who had previously worked under Rael had either resigned or been dismissed. As a result, Nymbrial County was understaffed to handle urgent matters like this. The news soon reached Oberon and Mathis.Oberon’s eyebrows furrowed deeply. “Illegal immigrant? How is that even possible?”Mathis’s expression also showed concern. After all, during the four

The wave of strikes and mass resignations by state officials in Noorhaven had truly shaken Oberon and Mathis.Mathis muttered, "Why is it that after I took over this state, I have to face such chaos?""Regardless, this turmoil must not drag on, or it will disrupt regional stability and development."More than that, Oberon was even angrier, almost tempted to flip the table in front of him. He completely lost his appetite. Clenching his teeth in frustration, his fury boiled over. The officials' demands to release Rael and their threats of a work strike had truly pushed Oberon's patience to its limit."Fine. If they want to strike or even resign!""I don't care!""In fact, this is an excellent opportunity for Noorhaven to get rid of Rael's loyalists and replace them with new officials who are more open-minded and willing to cooperate with me!""The notion that Noorhaven cannot function properly without Rael is utterly ridiculous!"As Oberon envisioned replacing the officials with talente

The smile on Mathis’ face reflected his newfound optimism, as if he could hit Rael away like a fly.Oberon nodded.“For now, I’ve already sent my men to investigate the officials who have complaints about Rael.”“To regain your energy, I think you should rest early.”Mathis nodded in agreement.“Sure.”He then retreated to his bedroom. After a long and exhausting day, Mathis felt he needed time to recharge and prepare himself for the challenges of tomorrow.Even so, as he lay on his bed, Mathis couldn’t stop thinking about Rael.“That bastard…”“At least you’re rotting in the dungeon, living a miserable life!”Mathis tried to comfort himself, and the thought of Rael being imprisoned lifted his spirits.Ho

After thinking for quite a while, Oberon finally had an idea.“Mr. Huber, I have an idea!”Lucan stared sharply at Oberon.“Speak!”Oberon quickly explained, “To divert the officials’ attention from the misunderstanding at Rael’s warehouses, we need to create news that will ruin Rael’s reputation!”“I’ll make the public aware that Rael often uses his dark powers to oppress capable officials and prevent them from getting promotions.”“Meanwhile, he allows incompetent officials to retain their positions!”According to Oberon, Rael had always been known for his good reputation because he had done many good deeds. Therefore, exposing Rael’s true face to the public was the right step to destroy their trust in him.Additionally, this diversion would also make the public aware that Rael had been hindering the country’s growth.Oberon’s previously pale face started to shine with optimism.“One more thing. The public must also know that Rael is collaborating with the Lord of the Scorpion at th

The sharp words from the official on the other end of the line slowly erased the smile from Lucan’s face.Shaking his head in frustration, Lucan retorted, “Are you so envious of Mathis’s accomplishments at such a young age that you resort to making false accusations against him?”In short, Lucan trusted Mathis more than the official on the phone.“You shouldn’t believe everything on TV just because it’s aired there!”The official sneered, “You shouldn’t blindly trust Mathis either!”“I understand he’s your son. But does a father simply stand by when his son does something wrong?”“Let me make one thing clear to you, Mr. Huber. I’m not saying this out of jealousy, as you’ve accused!”“But because the state of Noorhaven has already sent evidence to the capital!”“Every official in the capital now knows about the fraudulent actions of your son!”Without waiting for Lucan’s response, the official ended the call abruptly. The harsh manner of the official left Lucan stunned, speechless for

I am Aiden Russell, a reporter from Nooria News Channel.”With a professional smile, Aiden asked again, “So, is it true that Rael Vinsion is involved in a massive embezzlement case?”The bank staff did not immediately answer the reporter's question. Instead, he simply handed over an envelope that was in his hand to the reporter. Aiden took the envelope with a confused expression.“Are you trying to bribe me so I won’t report this case?”The bank staff's face turned sour, and he replied, “Just open the envelope. You’ll find out what’s really going on here.”Although hesitant, Aiden finally opened the envelope in his hand. The reporter's eyes narrowed when he saw that the envelope
