Briana was working hard in her office, typing on her computer and finalizing a collaboration proposal for the LCN Group.

Gene opened her office door and informed her, "Miss Vasconcelos, we have good news! It seems like we have more time for you to present the project!"

"What do you mean?" Briana raised her eyes from the monitor and looked at Gene, very surprised.

"There was a setback with the project manager. It seems like the group president is cleaning the house, getting rid of the rotten apples," Gene commented.

Gene knew this because Mark had informed him beforehand.

With the sudden dismissal of Frank Ross, Mark didn't want his wife to stress about finishing the project, so he arranged for her to be informed.

Briana allowed herself to relax and roll her tense shoulders, "Phew! Thank goodness. I can finish this more calmly and go by there tomorrow."

"It seems like luck is on our side!" Gene winked and then left.

Julian moved through the kitchen like a conductor, snapping his fingers to direct the flow of waiters laden with trays of hors d'oeuvres. He paused near the service entrance, leaning toward the butler."All quiet on the western front?" he asked, keeping his voice low."Don't blow the cover," Regis hissed through clenched teeth, his eyes darting toward the corridor. "The walls have ears.""The supposed 'Uncle Jean' is out there chatting up his niece," Julian whispered, leaning closer."Do you really think he came alone?" Regis asked, the weight of experience in his tone."It’s impossible for him to have brought reinforcements. Every name on the guest list was vetted personally by Lord Ferro.""Lord Ferro?"The voice came from the doorway. Julian felt the blood drain from his face; he wanted to bite his own tongue off.Standing there was Celia, looking positively statuesque in a grape-colored gown that hugged her bust and cinched her waist, leaving little to the imagination."Is the 'Go

By six in the evening, the entrance to Ferro House had transformed into a showroom of excess. The driveway was choked with a gleaming procession of SUVs, stretch limousines, and luxury sedans, all queuing to disgorge the city’s elite for the evening’s elegant affair.Everton and a squad of valets moved with military precision, steering the vehicles onto the meticulously manicured lawn to keep the chaos organized.Inside, the kitchen was a war zone of culinary excellence. Julian commanded the buffet team hired by Briana like a general, the pace and quality rivaling a three-star Michelin restaurant.Security was tight, though invisible to the untrained eye. Vargas and his "Men in Gray" blended into the shadows, posing as private security.A pair of thick-rimmed, Clark Kent-style glasses was the only thing preventing the guests from recognizing "Dr. Vargas," the man who usually delivered babies, now acting as the head of Lord Ferro's private guard.Meanwhile, Regis and Domitila glided th

The night of Elara and Christopher’s engagement had finally arrived.Briana had managed to extract a solemn promise from her cousin: no sexual marathons in the days leading up to the event. It wouldn't do for the fiancée-to-be to be limping around the party for obvious reasons; society gossiped enough as it was.In his suite, Christopher stood before the full-length mirror, smoothing the lapels of a tuxedo that commanded respect. He looked every bit the distinguished fiancé.Behind him, Gilson fussed with his own crooked bow tie before stepping forward to adjust his son’s."The time has come, son," Gilson said, his eyes crinkling with fatherly pride. "Starting today, you will be the fiancé of a beautiful woman.""Thanks, Dad," Christopher said, his voice thick with emotion.Gilson leaned in closer, his tone dropping to a conspiratorial, lecherous whisper. "So, where are you two going to... celebrate the engagement afterwards?"Christopher didn't return the grin. He met his father's ga

At the Ferro House pool, the atmosphere on the deck was far from tranquil. Luana paced back and forth, unable to process Briana’s refusal to enlist in the ongoing war against Celia."Friend, what is happening here?" Luana asked, stopping mid-stride to stare at Briana."Sanity has finally arrived, my friend," Briana replied, her voice heavy with exhaustion. She leaned back on her chaise lounge, adjusting her sunglasses."So, waging war against our enemy is a lack of sanity?" Luana scoffed, indignation radiating from her."I don't think you realize how useless it has been," Briana said patiently. "You were so terrified of Celia seducing Karl that you made it happen. It’s like you cast a curse on yourself.""I was betrayed, and I am the one to blame?""Let's just say that if you hadn't blamed Celia for drinking that coffee in my place, none of this would have happened. It was a chain reaction of errors that led to your situation now."For a split second, the thought flickered behind Luan

"Celia Soares showed up and smashed that cake platter over my head!"Mark stepped inside and closed the door with a soft click. He leaned back against the wood, watching Karl scramble for dignity like a cat watching a mouse with a broken leg."How did that happen?" Mark asked, his face a mask of seriousness. "You’re significantly taller than she is."Karl was too dazed to catch the mockery. "For starters, did you even know she was in

She searched her friend's face, tears welling in her eyes."Friend, are you okay?""Like I said," Briana replied, her voice firm, "I need to know if you are serious this time.""What do you mean?"Briana leaned forward on her chaise lounge, closing the distance between them. "Luana, haven't you realized yet that you've been wrong about Celia?"Luana scoffed, the tears momentarily forgotten in her indignation. "On the contrary! I always knew that slut was eyeing my man!""But you've blamed her since the incident with the poisoned coffee," Briana countered. "Don't you see the injustice in that?"Luana got more excited.
