Mark stood in his office, deep in conversation with Gene. When Gene heard about Briana, his eyebrows shot up in surprise.

Briana had already been taken home.

“Really? She was feeling unwell? Poor thing,” Gene said, genuinely concerned.

Mark shook his head. “What’s the funniest part is, I just can’t understand how she suddenly felt nauseous. If the symptoms persist, I’ll take her to the hospital.”

Gene softened his expression, trying to calm his boss. “Relax, Lord Ferro! It’s probably nothing serious.”

“Really?” Mark asked, raising an eyebrow.

Gene swallowed, pondering how to broach the next subject without being too blunt.

“Uh... how’s your love life going, you two?” Gene asked, nervously scratching the back of his neck.

Mark froze for a few seconds, and then broke into a goofy grin.

“Heh, heh, heh... What’s this, Gene? Already thinking about having cake at some baby shower?” Mark teased.

Gene shrugged. “That’s what crossed my mind. Guess that answers my question.”

Mark laughed hearti

Katrina and Patricio quickly moved apart and straightened up. After all, they’re just friends, right? “Come in!” Katrina authorized. The door opened, and Claudia entered, breathless from her conversation with Gilson. “I’m glad you still have an office to work in,” she declared dramatically. “Mom, what are you talking about?” Katrina narrowed her eyes. “I just spoke with your father.” Claudia took advantage of Patricio’s presence. “Mr. Nogueira, you need to help us. My brother-in-law, Briana’s father, is influencing my mother-in-law and my husband to fire Katrina!” Katrina’s jaw dropped. Patricio made a grimace, feeling personally offended. “WHAT? Mom, I can’t believe they’re really going through with this! I thought it was just Uncle Sandro’s delusion,” Katrina barked. “Unfortunately, he hasn’t given up on the idea. And with Briana saving the day because of the mess involving ‘You Can’t Buy Happiness,’ Sandro now has solid, convincing arguments to justify your expulsion,” Clau

  • Chapter 668 No Longer Hiding

Mark was alarmed at the mention of Karl. “Why did you say that?” “Wasn’t that why he left here so stressed? Didn’t he miss me at the ‘Times of Glory’ studios?” “Yes, he’s been looking for you — Karl, and everyone else, even the director.” “Jeez, I’m becoming a very important person around here, huh?” Celia winked mischievously. “You’ve always been, and you’ll be even more if you keep walking the right path to success. No inglorious shortcuts,” Mark gave her a subtle hint. Celia smiled, understanding the message (and maybe the hint?), and then headed out. Mark listened as Celia said, “Hello, Karl,” before the person in question entered and closed the door, taking a deep breath. He quickly informed him, “She was with Mary Ellen at the ‘Colorful Kisses’ studios.” “What the hell was she doing there? That was Luana’s scheme, I’m sure of it!” Karl couldn’t hide his anger. Mark raised an eyebrow with a slight mockery. Karl straightened up. “Okay, you got me. I’m crazy to screw Celi

  • Chapter 667 Dealing with the Annoying Actor

Entering her office — the same office that used to belong to James — Katrina found the abusive actor waiting on the sofa in the small lobby.“What do you think you’re doing on this sofa?” Katrina dropped her smile. “I don’t want you dirtying it!”“Wow, thanks for the consideration!” Sérgio stood up. “I see I’ll get what I want more easily and quickly!”Katrina rolled her eyes, feeling not even a little intimidated. She grabbed her purse’s keys and opened her office door, with Sérgio following her.“Just tell me what you want.” Katrina went straight to her desk, carefully turning on her computer so as not to break a nail.“I was fired from the series!” Sérgio exclaimed angrily, pointing a finger at Katrina. “I want compensation for this loss.”Katrina shot him a cold look. “Mr. Saldanha, you heard my lawyer yesterday: I have no obligation to compensate you in any way because you decided on your own to attack my cousin, the one who backed the series you’ve been in since the beginning.”

  • Chapter 666 This is ABSURD!

“How could I be okay with this?” Karl stood up, reacting intensely. “The actresses are completely unassisted, without support during filming. Celia insists on serving only the actors. And because of that, scenes like this become routine! The actors on ‘Times of Glory’ are already talking about Celia as a ‘distraction’ for them!” “Are you so distressed that Celia is the hot topic among the male dressing rooms?” Mark asked directly. “I don’t know if ‘distressed’ is the word. I just don’t want this to turn into a bigger problem,” Karl replied, avoiding eye contact with Mark. Mark crossed his fingers, trying once more. “Karl... you seem jealous. And that worries me.” Karl instantly collapsed back into his chair, shock on his face as if someone had torn from him his most intimate and precious secret. “Is that it? You fell in love with Celia Soares after that controversial encounter under the influence of the hellish aphrodisiac?” Mark pressed even more. “That’s completely ABSURD!” Ka

  • Chapter 665 No Hurry from the Parliament

Days are passing, and Mark still hasn't received an invitation to meet with the Parliament members, not even from his distant uncle, the current regent. Could it be that Parliament isn’t in a hurry to start the power transition, given that nothing extraordinary has happened in Aurelia? Mark took a deep breath. He grabbed his cellphone and dialed Linda. Linda, as always, answered from her operations center. “Good morning, Lord Ferro.” “Miss Mattes, have you received any communication from Parliament?” Mark asked with a furrowed brow. Linda held her breath for a few seconds, unsure of the nature of the question. Then she responded respectfully, “Lord Ferro, forgive me for my frankness, but I don’t believe Parliament would waste time on a mere servant like me.” Mark thought about that too, but... “Cut out the ‘mere servant’ talk; you’re very useful to me. However, Parliament still hasn’t contacted me, and I don’t want to overstep by going there without being summoned.” Mark cou

  • Chapter 664 Has Katrina a Career Yet?

“What are you talking about?” Claudia brayed. “Are you saying Katrina won’t have a future at OUR company, the one bearing her name?” “Maybe.” Gilson shrugged and leaned back against the headboard. “Why are you being so cruel to your daughter?” Claudia lamented. “Am I being cruel to her?” Gilson raised his eyebrows. “I’m thinking about the opportunities Katrina will have when she leaves the entertainment industry. Isn’t she dating someone? I think some maid is gossiping about it.” Claudia finished pulling out the chair and sat down, irritated that Katrina’s private life was the gossip of some maids. “Tell me later the name of that maid so I can fire her. Even if that were true, what does one thing have to do with the other?” Claudia crossed her arms. “Katrina could get married, have children, be an excellent housewife, and be free of career-related problems.” Gilson smiled at the idea. “Our son Chris is graduating and will return from university, ready to take over the family bus
