I was dumbstruck as a took in the red haired ectomorph in front of me, holding a pizza box with a grin on his face, dressed like a pizza delivery boy.
'Fireball?!' I lunged at him, engulfing him in a bone crushing hug.
'What are you doing here?! And why
are you dressed like that? ' I scrunched my face at his oversized outfit.
'Summer is for summer jobs, programming and taking care of my best friend.' he said as he walked in with the pizza.
'So, you work at a pizzeria now?' I enquired as I trailed behind him.
'Uh-huh. And I didn't tell you because I would pay to see that look on your face again when you saw me, ' he smirked.
I punched him playfully as we sat down and devoured the pizza.
Well, I did most of the devouring.
The strained relationship between me and my siblings and the restrictions from my parents to hang out with children my age, pushed me to find other ways to spend my time.I had developed an interest in art.I'd draw cartoon characters, Imaginations from my head, and just plain abstract.I started writing as well, expressing myself on the pages of my journal, writing soppy love stories and dark poems.I withdrew into myself and that was my journey to the valley of introversion, talking to my reflection and imaginary friends. My reverie was interrupted by a mariachi band passing by.I looked up and there it was- FACULTY OF ENGINEERING- written in bold letters on an arch right above the entrance of the faculty.I arrived at my temporary faculty, for now I guess. Taking in the surrounding, I found my way to the office building where I'd be registering.I walked
'Hi.' He said. 'I'm Allen Briggs and I'm the group leader of 2B.''Uh, I know.' I nodded. 'Nice to meet you.'Trying not to sleep off, I listened to the bore of all bores on how to lead a group, what we need to know, and all the mumble jumble about the training.God help me.After the session, I stood up to go and turned to see Allen skittered towards me.'Hey, um...I'd like us to get to see again before we start work fully.' said Allen with a shy smile on a face. 'Since we'd be working together for a whole month, maybe we should get to know each other, don't you think?'Processing what he said as fast as I can, as my brain was about to hibernate in sleep, I replied,'Yup. '
I contemplated between playing detective and minding my business and I decided to play detective. As she scurried to the bathroom for the umpteenth time this night, I tiptoed after her, pressing my ears on the bathroom door as I heared her cranky voice.'What?' Her voice echoed from the bathroom 'What do you mean you're backing out?!'Muffled responses came from the phone and she continued.'No. No. No no no no no! You can't do this to me, Not now!' She shrieked breathlessly, trying to keep her voice down.'What in the world is going on?'The voice from the phone sounded a little angry as it came with more force and intensity than it did previously.'You know what? To hell with you! I'll deal with this myself
I woke up to the sound of screeching tyres zooming into the drive way. It was still a little dark outside and I sprang to my feet, sprinting towards my window.I caught a glimpse of Mirel's silhouette zoom past in a blur into the house.I opened my door slightly and there Mirel was, pacing the floor frantically. Her clothes looked ruffled, her usually silky straight Bob looked like she just finished a scuffle. Is that...blood? She looked shaken, dishevelled and frightened. Her eyes were void of its regular mischievous gleam. They looked distant and hollow. What in the world is going on?!Taking a deep breath, I walked up to Mirel, muttering a short prayer as I approached her. She kept pacing then I reached out and tapped her lightly. She continued pacing like no one touched her. I grabbed her shuddering shoulders, sh
Later in the afternoon, Mirel and I drove down to the hospital where Nora was admitted. The nurse told us she was ready to receive visitors, so we went in. Mirel was a little tensed as she looked at me. I gave her a reassuring smile then we walked in. Nora was sitting on her bed reading a book, her face a little pale from the amount of blood she had lost during the abortion. Nora looked up from the book and as her eyes met with Mirel's, her face contorted into a frown.'What are you doing here?' Nora asked icily.'Um... um...''Nora, Mirel is here to apologize for what she did.' I interjected, saving Mirel from her lack of words.'You're Annette right? I've heard... Wonderful things about you.'Mirel's naturally pale face turned crimson and she lowered her eyes.
'O M G.it's almost evening for your date with blonde!' Dara half-dragged into me to my room as quickly as the words stumbled out of her mouth.Slightly startled, I jerkily followed her, with her rambling on about my hair, out fit, and what not. She rummaged through my closet, trying to find a 'perfect' outfit for my date.Sighing, I walked over to Dara as she frantically continued her search.'Halt Dara, It's not even a date! And no. You're not going to pick my outfit because I'm going like this.' I pointed towards my yellow tank top with Pink flower patterned shorts.Dara's mouth flew open as she gazed at me in horror like I just grew horns.Rolling my eyes, I walked past her to grab my white sneakers and ripped Jean jacket. I tied my hair into a low pony tail, brushing my bangs over to
I stepped into my apartment and was greeted with silence except the gentle humming from the air conditioner.'Mirel isn't home yet?' I muttered with a frown.Getting into my room, I tossed my bag and sneakers aside and shrugged off my jacket then stepped into the bathroom for a quick shower.Dressed in yellow satin night wear, I strolled next door to Tee's room. I walked in unannounced and Tee let out a girly shrill.'AHHHHH!' He quickly dragged his pyjama bottoms up, quickly putting on the his shirt as well. 'What if I was totally unclad, young lady?!'I chuckled, navigating past him to his fridge and grabbing a box of frozen pizza.'Well, you're not. Besides, who gets dressed in their living room?' I sauntered past him to take a seat on the sofa.
After lunch, the girls and I hurried back to the workshop building for the next training session. The instructor walked in few minutes after I got in. Sighing, I groggily dragged myself towards the front to carry out the row call. The instructor stammered on with his heavy Italian accent about simple hand tools and I scoffed.'Why are we doing this again? ' I whispered to Allen.'Well, it's always good to start from the basics', Allen shrugged. To keep myself from falling over out of drowsiness caused by boredom, I started sketching on Allen's hands which was on the workbench, adding a string of tattoos on them. I chuckled when I was done and the instructor cleared his throat.'Young lady, do you mind enlightening us on the
