Chapter 1: Very Confusing

UGH! This headache! Really... this headache is really terrible!

Clover remembered that one second before, he had been in such a bad accident that he hit his head on the steering wheel really hard. It was so hard, it was like falling from the 10th floor and the head was the first to hit the ground.

That's not counting the many aftershocks that followed. He felt like his body was a tomato being violently stirred in a small glass. Note that he crashed into a stopped truck.

Ah, he remembered! They were changing a punctured truck tire and he hit them at 170KM/H.

Of course, it wasn't entirely their fault for stopping where they shouldn't.

Clover was very drunk at that time. He was in a state of frustration and stress.

How is it not? The lover with whom he had been in a relationship for eight years chose to marry another man. Clover at first only gave a nonchalant response about that.

Keep in mind that he is the richest and most famous mafia in this country! He has everything. Then, is an ordinary woman like her able to make him feel lost?!

The answer is of course no, right?! And, yes, Clover has come to that conclusion too.

However, after one month since the incident, Clover began to feel lost. He was starting to realize how empty his life would be without her! He realized that he could not live peacefully without her! He was starting to feel regret for letting her go so easily.

Clover had originally thought of taking the woman back. Of course, he has the ability for that. He has all access to it.

However, that woman must be happy, right?

She must have gotten a much better man than a mafia asshole like me.

Therefore, Clover discouraged this intention and chose to spend his time falling into the abyss of regret. It was completely his fault.

In the end, Clover's suffering was further compounded by this accident. At the very least, he lost both his legs or both hands. He probably wouldn't be able to sit comfortably again in the future. Ah, no! He's too far-fetched. To still be alive after this is already a miracle!

At this point, Clover tried to open his eyes. The pain in his head was still so terrible. However, he couldn't possibly be waiting here, could he? He had to look for his phone and call someone to come save him.

However, the first thing he saw was a very unfamiliar ceiling. To his left, the bright sun shone through the window; illuminating his eyes.

Realizing something was wrong, Clover widened his eyes in surprise.

Am I dead?!

Is this the afterlife?!

Even though the pain in his head was still lingering, but it was covered by the excessive fear that Clover felt. Is he really dead?!

Immediately, Clover got up, and he found himself in a room that was quite small, only about 3x4 meters. The mattress underneath looked worn out, like it had been used for years.

Wait! Is it a dream?

This is definitely not the afterlife, this is just an ordinary room!

Or, is this a hospital?! But, this doesn't look like a hospital at all!

Just as Clover fell into a daze, the room door suddenly opened, and a woman he knew very well appeared from behind it.

"Aston, are you awake?! I-I was really worried about your condition!" said the woman with a surprised expression while covering her open mouth. She didn't expect to see Aston wake up so quickly. Considering how terrible the accident that had befallen Aston, she was honestly pessimistic about it.

"E-Elora?!"

On the other hand, Clover showed an expression of indescribable shock. Yes, Elora is the woman Clover talked about earlier.

Meanwhile, seeing Aston's shocked expression, Elora became even more worried. Was this a side effect of the accident? Traumatized?

"Are you all right, Aston? Is there something that scares you?" asked Elora with a worried expression as she took a step closer to him.

"Aston?"

Who is Aston? I am Clover Garren. Why did Elora call me by a name that wasn't mine?

Did I move to a different universe to become another person? Or, did I enter someone else's body?

At this point, Clover wanted to first analyze this confusing situation. He couldn't just say he wasn't an Aston.

Lucky if he's just assumed to be crazy. But, how was he made into a guinea pig in a scientific laboratory?

He most likely wasn't from this world, right?

No! This second life must be better than before. Although, Clover doesn't know whether this is his second life or not. At least, for now let's assume that it is. He often read several novels that have a similar plot so he came to that conclusion.

To get some answers from his questions, Clover has a way. He just had to pretend he had lost his memory. Considering how Elora had shown a shocked expression when she saw him regain consciousness, it meant that the owner of this body had been unconscious for a long time.

At the same time, Clover felt a bandage wrapped around his forehead. What a coincidence. The owner of this body must have had an accident. Moreover, the pain in his head has not diminished. This could be a good reason.

"My head hurts so bad. Do you know what happened to me?" Clover asked with a confused expression while holding his head.

Hearing Aston's different tone of voice and the way Aston was holding his head so hard, does this mean that the accident made him lose his memory?

In order to get an answer from that, Elora asked, "Have you lost your memory, Aston?"

"I don't know, but... I don't actually remember anything. What really happened to me? And... Who exactly are you? Is my name Aston?"

Seeing Elora closer, Clover honestly wanted to cry and hug her. How he missed Elora so much. However, this woman might not be Elora. She might just be a woman who looks like her. However...

"I am Elora Harper, your wife. Also, your name is Aston Bernard," Elora replied in a firm tone as if trying to convince him.

On the other hand, Clover was very surprised. Isn't that really Elora's name? Was this woman the same woman he knew?

At this point, Clover suddenly came to a crazy conclusion.

Wait! Is this the body of Elora's husband?!

Clover immediately fell into deep thought. Is this all possible? How could he be in Elora's husband's body?

Doesn't this situation only exist in novels or movies? Do reincarnation and transmigration really exist?

There are so many questions that enter Clover's head that it almost drives him crazy!

Meanwhile, seeing Aston's confused expression as if he was suddenly in a fantasy world, Elora was increasingly convinced that Aston had really lost his memory. It wasn't the expression of someone trying to trick her or pull some kind of prank.

To be honest, it makes perfect sense considering what a bad accident he got into!

Hence, Elora said to Clover in a concerned tone, "Get some rest, Aston. You have to calm your mind first. All these problems are too much for you. Just call me if you need anything."

However, the flustered Clover gave no response to that and just silently stared in random directions. That reaction made Elora take a deep breath and leave the room. At least he's sober. I'll explain the whole situation when he calms down.

On the other hand, Clover ignored Elora's departure. He still needed time to believe in the current situation.

In the next second, right after Elora's departure, something even more shocking happened. A transparent blue hologram suddenly appeared in his vision.

[System Connected Successfully... 100%]

[Test... Is the system connected properly, Clover? Do you hear my voice?]

The voice coming from the hologram was that of an old man. Of course, Clover had never heard that voice before. But, why did he feel so familiar with that voice?

"What the heck is going on with me?!" asked Clover with a panicked face. Never in his life had he faced such a dire situation! This is absolutely horrifying and confusing! Being trapped in a basement filled with bombs couldn't even be this scary!

[Ah, I can hear your voice! That means the system is well connected! I am happy!]

The voice sounded friendly. Clover felt no threat from that either. Can I inquire with that about the situation that actually happened to me?

Moreover, given that this system knows my name, it must have something to do with all of this, right?

Hence, Clover couldn't help asking in a polite tone, "Can you explain what really happened to me?"

Hearing Clover's polite tone, the voice burst out laughing.

[Hahaha, you speak very politely to me. Are you sure you're the ruthless Clover Gerren?! Hahaha, I'm sure you must be scared. Imagining how your expression is right now, it must be cute]

Hearing that terrible laugh, Clover was actually very annoyed. Is this system playing tricks on me?!

But, considering that this was the only hope he had, Clover could only remain silent without showing the slightest objection to it.

As long as he could survive, lowering a bit of self-esteem wouldn't matter much.

However, what the system said next made Clover widen his eyes; as if his eyeballs could fall at any moment to the floor.

[Okay, I'll tell you. I am the future you!]
