After a short moment, Kate asked coldly, "Can you tell me what's going on? Where did all this money come from?"

I kept my eyes shut and did not bother replying. What was the point of discussing with someone who was trying to harm you?

She got angry and moved to my side of the bed. Right at that time, I took her in my arms and pressed her down on her bed.

I had endured for a long time now, and Kate was the most beautiful woman I had ever seen. I felt the same when we met at a bar two years ago, and I felt the same now. Whether it was her figure or her face, they were perfect.

I kissed her crazily.

Kate was like a drowning girl trying to escape from an underwater spirit.

Suddenly, I felt a sharp pain stemming from the tip of my tongue. I raised my head and looked at Kate coldly.

Tears welled up in her eyes, which were now filled with a mix of emotions that I could not understand clearly. However, I knew that she'd never loved me, despite me giving her my everything in the past two years!

"You're crazy!"

Her words stabbed my heart. I smiled coldly and used both hands to hold her down.

"Yes, I'm crazy, and also stupid. You're my wife, yet you won't even let me touch you!"

"You broke the rules."

"Rules? Hehe, okay..."

I forced a smile and got up. I wore my clothes and prepared to leave this unwelcoming place.

Seeing me like this, Kate became anxious. She said, "It's quite late, and you still want to leave?"

"Yes, maybe I can go to the most expensive place in this city and live there. If I'm not welcome in this house, there are plenty of places I can live in. In the next two days, I'll sign the divorce agreement, so prepare yourself."

My voice was emotionless, and even when I saw Kate crying, I did not feel anything. Perhaps everything that happened between us thoroughly killed my feelings for her.

"David, I don't want to divorce you," sobbed Kate.

"Isn't that what your mother wanted? She can go look for a wealthy son-in-law and have her personal money-printing machine at home. By the way, you can forget about getting half of my assets after the divorce. It was just a marriage of convenience, and I entered the contract to help my father. Now that there is no need for that, it's time to go our separate ways."

"David..."

When I opened the door, I found Rosie outside eavesdropping. Caught in the act, her expression became ugly. Since she could not afford to act like she used to, she tried to squeeze out a smile.

"David, are you really going out so late? By the way, are you hungry? I've cooked a bowl of noodles for you. Try it, it's not spicy."

"Leave it for John. He really likes your cooking, Rosie."

I left the house without looking back. I wandered on the streets and saw that the city's nightlife had just started. I was unable to calm down after what happened in the bedroom and was getting more and more restless.

Despite the lateness, the people on the bustling streets seemed to be in a hurry, either because they needed to survive the day or because they were enjoying their life.

I took a taxi and headed to the most lively nightclub in the city. A smile crept on my face as I looked at the twenty-story-tall building.

Such an environment was sometimes the best way to get rid of the pressure.

I mingled with the crowd and danced to the loud music. From time to time, I bumped into some pretty ladies with flirty gazes. I could smell the beautiful scent emanating from their bodies.

However, I knew how to control myself.

After downing a few glasses of wine, I felt a fire burning in my body. All the people around me were hugging and embracing beautiful women. I studied their moves and tried to push the boundaries as well. There was this pretty girl beside me wearing camouflage shorts and a white short-sleeved shirt that was having a hard time containing her large mounds.

I was no saint, and I often bumped into her soft body while dancing.

As I got bolder and thought of stretching my hand to cop a feel, the girl grabbed my hand. She said with a smile, "Big Guy, you're getting bolder and bolder. You should be more careful lest you get eaten!"

Her grip was pretty strong, I wondered if she practiced martial arts. I started to see her in a new light.

At this time, the lights stopped flickering and I was able to get a clearer look at her face.

She was even prettier than I thought. I especially liked her big eyes.

She tied her hair in a ponytail and grinned. "Big Guy, is it your first time here? Your moves are so stiff. Come, I'll treat you to a drink!"

"Sure!"

It seemed we had hit it off well. In this kind of atmosphere, I got the urge to bring her to a hotel room, but even the elevator or the bathroom could work!

The alcohol was pretty strong, and after the fifth cup, I felt my head become heavy. Seeing that the girl was not drunk in the least, I laughed in a self-deprecating manner, ashamed of myself.

"Big Guy, you can't stand alcohol at all!"

I did not speak and just looked at her, mesmerized by her smiling face.

She sighed. "At this pace, I'll have to carry you on my back later!" She then pulled my palm and used her lipstick to write down some numbers. I guessed it was her phone number.

I was stunned but also excited.

The music suddenly became gentler, losing the wild vibe it had before.

Seeing me puzzled, the girl grabbed my arm and pulled me toward the center of the hall. "Big Guy, let's go!"

The lights focused on a girl wearing a flowery white dress who was standing on an elevated platform in the middle of the hall. She held a ukulele, and despite wearing no make-up, she looked very pretty.

"What a beauty," I blurted out.

"Big Guy, you might not know it, but Sofia comes here every night to sing. Moreover, the nightclub allows for a bidding competition. The person that pays the most will have the honor to have Sofia's song dedicated to them! Her songs are very good!"

"Is that so? It sounds interesting."

"Big Guy, do you also want to participate in the bidding?"

"Sure!"

"Haha, money is never enough here, though. In this nightclub, there are always countless rich kids, and the price always goes past five thousand dollars!"

"Don't worry, I'm not someone who's short of money!" I laughed. It sure felt good to be rich!

The surroundings quieted down. Sofia wanted to sing her original song, Dream Chaser, and the starting price was one thousand dollars. The nightclub seemed to be treating this event as an opportunity to market itself. But looking at Sofia's expression from close up, she did not seem too happy to do this.

"Hehe, I'll start, all right? My name is Emma, two thousand dollars!"

The crowd roared, and the host raised the displayed price to two thousand dollars as if it was an auction.

I looked at the girl beside me and said with a smile, "So your name is Emma. It's a nice name."

"Big Guy, make your bid!"

"No need to be anxious. Let them play for a while."

Usually, the event would end after the bid reached a few thousand dollars. But today, it didn't stop even after reaching fifteen thousand dollars; it kept going higher and higher.

Perhaps some big shots were hidden in the crowd. Each time they made their bid, the crowd seethed with excitement.

"Wow, they all seem to have gone crazy today. This bidding war is so fun!" Emma was also excited. And amidst her excitement, she tightly clung to my arm, pressing her soft bosom against my body.

Five minutes later, the highest bid reached fifty thousand dollars, and it did not seem like things were going to stop anytime soon. The price kept going up with increments of three thousand dollars.

For some of the playboys in the crowd, this much money was just pocket change.

Seeing them so excited, I directly raised the price to eighty thousand dollars. The surroundings quieted down for a moment, and countless pairs of eyes stared at me.

After three seconds of deadly silence, another playboy raised the price.

"Eighty-five thousand!"

"Ninety thousand!"

"A hundred and twenty five thousand!"

The price had increased quite a lot. It seemed that this guy's desire to win the competition was strong, so I decided to keep him company until the end!

"Hundred and fifty thousand!"

"Two hundred thousand!"

"Half a million!"

Well, half a million dollars to listen to a song was a bit too much, but I felt that it was worth it. The important thing was to be happy!

As my voice rang out, everyone else's died, and no one dared to increase the price further. There were no cheers at this moment, only jeers. They believed that I was someone with no money trying to show off.

"Half a million dollars sounds ridiculous. Even if you have the money, you shouldn't waste it like this!"

"Maybe he's new here and thinks this is just a game."

"He must be having fun pretending to be rich!"

"What we need to see is if he can afford the fun!"

When I finished, everyone at the table erupted in laughter. Cherry Corp's Deputy General Manager even spat out his food."Double the money? Heavens! I think you drank too much. Do you think we don't know what's going on with your company? You're facing a liquidity crisis and are almost on the verge of bankruptcy! Yet, you're talking about profit?""He's right. No matter how much money we toss at your company, it's unlikely to turn into profit.""Today, we had dinner with you because of Miss Sullivan. We hoped to give your company a helping hand while we were at it. But who would have expected that a useless bum would ruin all the fun!"I was a bit angry after their repeated insults. I said coldly, "You should be a bit more respectful.""Or what? I'm going to do whatever the hell I want! I can't believe that a small secretary like you is putting on airs at this meeting. Careful, I need to make just a call for your boss to fire you!""I'm Miss Sullivan's secretary. No one other than her

Zack was regretting bringing the wrong report here. His face was red, and he did not dare make a sound."Mr. Reddick, what's going on here?" That hot-tempered board member shouted again. He hated people committing fraud."Mr. Campbell, I... I made a mistake. I didn't know that Mr. Wayne was..."Seeing that he was on the verge of tears, I stood up and took that form from before, presenting it to him."Mr. Reddick, please sign this form. Let's take advantage of the fact that you're still the assistant manager. Otherwise, I wouldn't know who to look for, since you're about to be fired," I said half-jokingly. Zack's eyes were red. He grabbed my hand and begged, "David... No, Mr. Wayne, can you forgive me just this once, for old time's sake? I promise I'll change! Please give me another opportunity, Mr. Wayne!""Zack, you don't deserve my forgiveness. You're a stinky rat that ruined the atmosphere in the finance department with your presence. You should quickly pack your stuff and get rea

They were carrying large suitcases, which I assumed were filled with cash."Master, we made you wait.""Don't worry about that. Anyway, the company is going through a liquidity crisis, and I wanted to provide them with the funds. These five million dollars should be enough.""Sounds good. However, I feel like you lack something. Status.""Status?""Yes. I've made some preparations, and this is your new business card."When I saw the business card, I was startled. If there is an emergency, call this number. I, Victor, will come to your aid as soon as possible.""Thank you. It means a lot!"I wanted to stop by the company to get back the things I'd left there, and among them was my dignity! After I arrived at the company, I took the elevator to the tenth floor. When I got to the office, I saw Zack throwing around his weight and lecturing the people of the finance department. I had no idea who had given him the right to do so. He acted as if he did not see me and continued with his lecture. It seemed he was promoted while I was away. Otherwise, there was no way he could be so arrogant."You have to always put the company's interest first. Your personal interest comes after, got it? D
