Chapter 4: Magic

Lucas deliberate on what he should choose.

" Ignite is the least expensive of all and it should be able to cater my need but-"

"" Basic Fireball created 300 SP deducted!""

He choose the fireball skill thinking that he need not just a fire starter but also a means to fight monsters and fireball seems to have the best offensive qualifications based on it name and it's price. He was about to try the skill out when-

"" It appears that the Hero have not undegone a Magic Awakening yet , use 100 SP to proceed to awaken?""

Lucas was baffled by the notification,

" So magic still need to be awaken!"

He press yes reducing his remaining points to zero.

"" Undergoing Awakening""

The notification sounded and then lucas fell to the ground.

"Arrgggghh"

A sharp pain flowed into Lucas body like a prick of thousand needles. Lucas didn't know that awakening will be so paifull an she was hit unprepared but he was not able to complain at the moment and was only be able to roll in the ground in pain.

A few minutes pass and a warm felling started to form on Lucas abdomen, it increase in size from a pinhead to size of a golf ball in few seconds and as it grow in size the warmth increase too. It increase until the warmth was turn into a seering heat on his abdomen.

" Argghhh!"

Unable to do anything Lucas can only scream in pain.

After a few minutes of suffering the pain suddenly stop and a energizing felling suddenly flowed out the ball of power that have growed in his abdomen. It was now a size of an apple.

As the energy flowed it into different part of his body, Lucas felt that he was being reborn. Every cell in his body now being wash by the energy until lastly it flows into his head , all the energy then nurture his brain making his cloudy consciousness beacem clearer and clearer until he was able to stand up again.

Lucas status now have an additional section for MP and he have gained two skills ,one is the fireball he created using the skill creation function.

" System ,what the hell is a Magic Awakening?"

"" Magic Awakening is one of the process a life- form undegone to be able to use energy, in this case Mana. It can be done by cultivating mana techniques to slowlly nurture the body to accommodate mana , Hero's Awakening was done using the system help by directly injecting pure mana into your system and then forcing it to form a core.""

" What !? So the pain was because my awakening was done in abrupt manner!?"

"" That's right Hero""

The system replied without any emotions.

The anger he was about to pour into the system disappear as his skill Calm took over.He was then able to think rationally and understand that this is the best case scenario for him.

" Thinking of this the people of this world must have all started to train for their Mana Awakening at a very young age. I'm sure I'm already pass the age of what ever they should be undergoing it."

He calm down and sit beside his unlit camp fire. He then concentrate and tried to cast his skill.

" Fireball!"

A ball of fire the size of a grape fruit appear in his hand. He look at his status and saw that his MP decrease by 10. Lucas now that this magic was over kill to start a fire, so he slowly put the fireball near the woods and ignite it , when the fire seems to be continuing on its own he throwed the fire ball onto the shore.

*Boom!"

It landed on the rocks and created a small explosion. A crater half a foot deep appeared on the ground. Lucas was shock by the effect of the fireball and his mood was elevated again. Whoever a man that don't like a little explosion.

Lucas smiled and then proceed to cook his fish by puncturing it in a small stick and then sticking it in the ground near the fire . A waft of fragrance breeze on to him making him remember his hunger and making him crave for the cooking fish to be done immediately.

After a few minutes of turning and cooking of the fish it was finally ready. Lucas bit into the the fish and was elated , as the saying says all food taste delicious when your hungry.

He crush a bunch of red berries and sauce it around the fish giving it a brand new flavor .

The relaxing atmosphere then made Lucas to ponder more.

"By the way system, what the other kind of awakening?"

"" The other kind of awakening is Vitality awakening. Usually used by knights and races who cant accommodate mana on their body like the ogre tribe. They use martial techniques to increase the Vitality in their blood and organs to and then use it a energy source for their skills.""

Lucas listened as he ate. He imagined how those knights use their vitalty to fight and a Wuxia like image appeared in his mind.

Lucas decide to wipe it out of his mind and then continue to eat his fish.

" I should travel upriver and see if there are human civilization there , I hope that I can find something before the night fall."

The sun was now leaning more to the west than the east now indicating that it was now pass noon, showing that he now only have a few hours before night fall.
