Romeo's nostrils flared with indignation, his fists trembling with suppressed fury as he took a step forward, ready to challenge the imposing men barring their way.

But before he could speak, Helen stepped forward, her voice trembling with emotion as she pleaded with the guards. "Please sirs, my mother is unconscious at the moment, and she could die any minute. Please, let us in so they can attend to her."

Her words hung in the air, her desperation was evident as she implored the guards to show mercy in their time of need.

One of the men stepped forward, and his expression stern and unwavering. "The commissioner of works is inside this ward, and as such, we are here to ensure his security and to ensure that he is not disturbed. You would take your mother out of our sight this minute, or you are going to do nothing but force our hands to do something drastic."

Helen's heart sank at his words, the seriousness in his tone and what it meant weighed heavily upon her.
