Chapter 1

In a dark, silent room. The cold breeze hangs in the air. The smell of raw meat fills the entire area. Where an electric saw can be heard from the long passing road. Where the blood of slaughtered animals drip and their bodies skinned. That's where the brunette woman worked. She neither smiled nor laughed.

All she did was kill, skin and chop animals. But rumour was that she was no ordinary butcher, she also slaughtered humans.

Present day

Simon Bentley was running late for a meeting. The traffic had delayed his daily trip to work. This was becoming a habit, of which his brother Arnold, also his partner at Bentley industries was getting tired of.

"Excuse me, sorry." He cried, trying to stop the lift from taking off. But it was already full, so he stood by and waited for a few minutes.

The lift was now safe to enter. A woman with curled black hair entered. He followed after her, trying to be a gentleman. The sweat on his face was completely obvious as he was running late. He tried to say a few words but all that was heard was mumbling. The woman did not seem at all interested. She neither smiled nor give the man attention.

"Ooh.. Third floor, that's my cue to leave." He said, in a squeamish way.

The woman was still silent. Her jaw was hard and visible but she still looked very beautiful with her cat eyed shaped eyes.

"Wow, he's finally arrived." Said Arnold looking from outside the glass door.

The men and women in their tight formal wear, stared at the door as Simon entered.

"Please forgive me everyone. Traffic was bad. I had to walk."

Arnold was completely agitated by the same comment. To him it was deliberate.

"And as always we had to wait till you arrived to start our meeting." He said.

"I wish I could control the traffic but I can't."

With that said, Simon took a seat opposite his brother like he always did.

The meeting ended an hour later. The room was finally free from the office arguments as well as conflicts that required resolving.

Arnold and his brother were the only ones left.

"This habit of yours of coming late is really going to make us look bad and unprofessional."

Simon rolled his eyes with irritation.

"I told you before. I don't control the traffic and if I could I definitely would." He said in his defence.

"You can always come an hour early."

"What about my sleep, I hardly get any."

"I hardly get any sleep too. But I still show up early."

"I have to go, I don't need this."

Arnold watched as his brother leave the room. He knew that if he ever tried to run after him, they would end up fighting and his image was too important to maintain. He did not want to tarnish it in anyway.

Simon got inside the lift. He was so angry that he had nor even noticed who was in the lift with him. Suddenly, a book fell to the ground. Simon picked it up, he turned his gaze to the back and realized that it was the woman he had been in the lift with, earlier.

"Oh, it's you again."

The woman shot a slight glance at Simon, then faced ahead.

"Uhm. My name is.."

"I don't care what your name is." The woman interrupted.

"Oh finally, she talks. Well I noticed that the book you were carrying was of Bram Stroker's Dracula. Do you like vampire novel's much because I have a few I could share with you."

The woman did not turn to face Simon but she did utter words that ran through the spine with a chilling effect.

"I am a butcher, what do you expect?" She said.

Simon chuckled.

"Well I am.."

"Mr Bentley, the owner of this dump. I get it." The woman interrupted.

"I wouldn't really call this place a dump, its more like a doll factory."

"Wow. Even a doll factory is better than this place."

Simon was slightly offended.

"My brother and I worked hard to build this place up. If you have any problem with this building then why are you here?" He asked.

The woman laughed out hilariously. She turned to face the man and continued to laugh.

"You're already offended. My father would have eaten you alive." She teased.

"So your father is a cannibal?"

"I think he may have eaten a few bodies when he's plane crashed on the jungle."

Simon laughed out.

"I could already imagine."

"I am Pauline." The woman stretched out her hand.

"I am.. Oh, you already know who I am."

They shook hands.

"Its good to meet you sir and sorry for being rude earlier on. I just don't like men."

"Oh. May I ask why?"

"No."

"Alright. Well, I guess its my cue to leave." Simon said, awkwardly.

"Me too. See you again maybe."

Simon watched as the woman left the building.

"Easy, easy." He said in a low voice.

The woman turned hee gaze towards his direction then smiled.

"That's it."

The man followed after the butcher woman, right at that moment.

"Can i get your number?" He asked.

"As I said before, I don't like men."

"Well, what do you like?"

"Chopping up meat."

"I also like my work but we all need to have a social life, right?"

The woman shot a glance at Simon. He sensed that she was disagreeing with his statement.

"Can I at least take you out on a meal sometime. We could eat ribs if you like."

"Do I look like a rib girl to you?"

Simon felt awkward.

"No. But you look like a woman who needs to go out and I am the right man to take you there, wherever you want." He said.

The woman smiled, slightly.

"You should come to the Meat and grill house and order some of my finest cuts for your family." She said.

"What time?"

"After hours, which is at 9pm."

Simon was thrilled.

"Thank you. I'll be there." He said, excitedly.
