A moment later, they arrived in front of the inn, but Gisele couldn’t move from where she stood. She even held onto Leo’s hand.

The inn in front of her was quite luxurious, and it instantly made her uneasy.

“Leo, what are we doing here?” Her voice was polite, but filled with worry.

At that moment, Leo realized that his actions might cause a misunderstanding. He cleared his throat first.

“Gisele, I want to rent a room for you, and of course, we’ll be staying in separate places.”

He felt slightly embarrassed saying that. Because of what had happened in the past, whenever women saw his unkempt appearance, they would easily misunderstand him.

But the woman stayed silent for a few seconds as she looked at the inn in front of them. It looked nice, and surely expensive too.

“Leo, you can rent me a cheaper place. This… I think it’ll drain your money.”

Leo was a little surprised because this woman was different from the women he had known before—women who always demanded many things or luxurious items. Meanwhile, the woman beside him seemed to feel guilty for burdening him.

Leo smiled.

“My money won’t run out. Come on.”

He pulled Gisele’s hand, and this time, she finally followed him.

It was true that Leo had been fired, but he still had savings from the salary he had set aside. Helping a woman who genuinely needed his help made him feel more at ease.

The man approached the innkeeper.

“I’d like to book a single room. Under the name Leonard.”

Leo had intentionally booked it under his own name. Gisele, having lost her wallet, had surely lost her ID as well. She couldn’t make the reservation.

Then Leo turned around and approached Gisele. He handed her the room key he’d just booked.

“Here’s the room key. You sleep here.”

Gisele didn’t blink at that moment. Her gaze was fixed on Leo. She hadn’t expected the room to be given to her.

Since Gisele remained silent, Leo took the initiative to hold her hand and placed the key there. “You’ll be safe here.”

“This…” Gisele’s words trailed off. She paused for a second. It turned out there were still people this kind to her.

Gisele smiled. Her hand clasped Leo’s. Her eyes were slightly misty. If it weren’t for this room, who knows what would have happened to her tonight.

“Thank you!” she said in a friendly tone.

Leo was silent for a moment. He had just received a sincere thank you. Something he rarely received, even when he helped others finish their work back when he was employed.

A moment later, Gisele snapped out of it. She quickly let go of Leo’s hand. Her face flushed slightly.

The girl cleared her throat. Then she remembered something.

“If I use this room, what about you?”

Leo stroked his chin. “Don’t worry. I’ll also be staying somewhere else.”

Gisele nodded. Deep down, she felt relieved. But her face didn’t show it at all. She hurried off to get some rest.

A few moments after Gisele left, the system screen appeared before him. It coincided with the sound of his mobile banking notification.

[You’ve received a $30 rebate!]

Leo’s smile faded. His eyebrows furrowed. The amount didn’t match his calculations.

“Shouldn’t it be 250 dollars?”

Leo stared at the notification in front of him.

“So, I’ll receive daily rewards based on affection levels?” His brows furrowed slightly.

Leo let out a long sigh as he looked down. It turned out he hadn’t gotten exactly what he wanted. But that was fine; Leo hadn’t lost anything.

Especially since he could clearly see that his relationship with the woman had become much closer than before.

Leo smiled. Even this was beyond his expectations. He might end up receiving more than $3,000 per month.

Just as he had started walking away to find another inn to stay at, another notification suddenly appeared before his eyes.
