As soon as he arrived in front of Dayantara Tower, Jonathan looked up at the magnificent skyscraper. The tower soared into the sky, its gleaming glass walls reflecting the bright morning sunlight.

Just as he was about to enter, a tall, muscular security guard raised a hand to stop him.

"Excuse me, sir. What brings you here?" the guard asked firmly, looking Jonathan up and down.

Jonathan scratched his head before answering calmly, "I'm here to work."

The security guard raised an eyebrow.

"Work? Here? May I see your ID or your appointment letter, sir?"

Jonathan took a business card out of his pocket and handed it over.

"Here. It's from President Director Mella. She told me to report to the Human Resources Department."

The moment he heard that name, the guard's expression changed in shock.

"President Director Mella?" he murmured, his eyes widening. He quickly accepted the business card with both hands and examined it carefully.

A few seconds later, his attitude became noticeably more respectful.

"Yes, this is indeed her business card," he said quietly before returning it with a slight bow.

"Very well, sir. My apologies for doubting you. Please go right in. The Human Resources Department is on the third floor. Just take the elevator straight from the lobby."

Jonathan accepted the card back and gave a brief nod.

"Thank you."

Jonathan walked into the modern office building. People dressed in neat business suits hurried past while carrying folders. The corporate atmosphere was everywhere, making him realize just how unfamiliar this world was to him.

After asking the receptionist for directions, he took the elevator to the third floor. At the end of the corridor was a sign that read Human Resources Department.

Jonathan carefully knocked on the door once, but there was no response. Assuming the office was empty, he slowly pushed the door open.

The moment it opened, his eyes froze.

Inside the office, a tall young woman was standing in front of a mirror, changing into her work clothes. Her white blouse was only halfway buttoned, and she had just put on a tight black skirt, making her figure especially captivating. Her long black hair cascaded gracefully over her shoulders, her skin was flawlessly fair, and even before she was fully dressed, she naturally exuded authority.

Jonathan's eyes widened instantly.

"Oh no... I picked the worst possible time to come in!"

Anastasya immediately noticed someone's presence. She turned around with a face flushed from both anger and embarrassment.

"HEY! What do you think you're doing?! Who gave you permission to come in?!" she shouted sharply.

Jonathan was startled and quickly lowered his head.

"I-I'm sorry! I didn't know you were in here. I truly didn't mean to interrupt," he stammered before hurriedly backing toward the door.

"Get out! Right now!" Anastasya shouted even louder.

After the incident, Jonathan stood stiffly outside the office door, his heart still pounding. He waited about five minutes, hoping things inside had calmed down. Finally, with some hesitation, he knocked again.

Knock... knock...

This time, a voice came from inside.

"Come in!"

The tone was firm, though no longer as furious as before.

Jonathan opened the door and stepped inside. Anastasya was now sitting neatly behind her desk, dressed in a proper business suit. Her face remained cold, clearly still irritated.

Jonathan lowered his head.

"I'm sorry about what happened earlier. It truly was an accident. I honestly didn't see anything. I simply came in at the wrong time."

Anastasya narrowed her eyes.

"You didn't see anything?" she repeated skeptically.

"That's right," Jonathan answered. "I only came to inform you that President Director Mella personally instructed me to report to the Human Resources Department."

Anastasya crossed her arms.

"So, you're Jonathan?" she asked flatly.

Jonathan nodded politely.

"Yes, ma'am. President Director Mella herself told me to come."

The corners of Anastasya's lips curled into a faint, almost mocking smile.

"Hmm... so you're the assistant Ms. Mella mentioned. She said a 'little bastard' would be coming here to work today. So that was you."

Jonathan felt rather awkward but tried to remain calm.

"Yes... I suppose that's me."

"Damn that blonde girl. When I see her again, I'll pull her hair," Jonathan grumbled inwardly.

Anastasya leaned forward slightly.

"Alright then, let's start with the basics. What's your educational background? Do you have a diploma?"

Jonathan paused for a moment before gently shaking his head.

"I don't."

Anastasya narrowed her eyes as she carefully studied his face, trying to judge whether he was serious.

"No diploma? Then what exactly are your qualifications? At the very least, tell me what skills you have."

Jonathan straightened his posture and confidently looked at Anastasya.

"If we're talking about skills, does being handsome count? Besides that, I'm also pretty good at fighting."

"Oh, dear. That's what you consider a skill?"

Anastasya immediately slapped her forehead, feeling ridiculous after hearing such an absurd answer.

"You really are something else. President Director Mella must have been joking when she told me to hire someone like you."

Finally, Anastasya leaned back in her chair and looked Jonathan up and down with a judging gaze.

"Fine. Rather than wasting time arguing, I've decided to assign you to the Security Department. Consider yourself a security guard from now on."

Jonathan raised an eyebrow.

"A security guard?"

"Yes," Anastasya replied firmly. "Your probation period will last three months. Your monthly salary is 2000 dollars, including meals and accommodation. If you're officially accepted after those three months, your salary will increase to 2500 dollars."

Jonathan fell silent for a moment.

"Three months is fine. If it's only a probation period, I have no problem with that."

Anastasya let out a sigh before writing something on the documents in front of her.

"Very well. Starting today, you're officially on probation. Don't cause any trouble. I'll be keeping a close eye on you."

"Yes, ma'am," Jonathan replied with a faint smile.

Following Anastasya's instructions, Jonathan headed down to the first floor and entered the Security Department office.

The moment he opened the door, the smell of cigarette smoke hit him.

Several security guards were sitting around casually. Some were smoking, while others chatted as they sipped instant coffee.

"Good morning," Jonathan greeted them politely.

Hardly anyone responded. Only a few glanced at him briefly.

One burly security guard with a crew cut casually tapped the ashtray overflowing with cigarette butts in front of him.

"Hey, rookie," he called loudly. "Come here and empty this ashtray."

Jonathan turned to look at him.

"Are you the captain here?" he asked.

The muscular guard paused briefly before laughing.

"No. But I used to be a soldier. Around here, when I tell the new guys to do something, they obey immediately. Are you planning to break that tradition?"

Jonathan grinned.

"If you're not the captain, why should I follow your orders? Give me one good reason. My job is to be a security guard, not your servant. If you want that ashtray emptied, do it yourself."

The room instantly fell silent.

The other security guards, who had been casually smoking, all turned toward the newcomer, curious about his boldness.

The burly guard snorted, his lips curling into a sneer.

"A reason?" he said as he clenched his fist.

"Because my fist is bigger than your mouth. And if you keep talking back, I'll make sure your face is smashed before today is over."

Several of the other guards whistled softly, while others leaned back in their chairs to enjoy the show.

Jonathan remained completely relaxed, showing no sign of intimidation.

"Oh, so your logic begins and ends with the size of your fist? Then go ahead. I'd like to see whether having a bigger fist really means you can beat me."

Jonathan's dismissive gaze made the veins on the burly guard's neck bulge.

"You arrogant brat!" he roared as he shoved his chair backward.

Without another word, he threw a full-powered punch straight toward Jonathan's face.

Now Jonathan was no longer looking only at the elderly woman's face. He could also see the threads of fate flowing around her body. A dense golden radiance surrounded her, a sign of immense fortune coupled with an equally great burden that had remained with her throughout her life. The elderly woman gazed at Jonathan for a long moment, as if trying to determine the true extent of the young man's abilities. Then, in a hoarse yet steady voice, she said, "In that case, don't tell me about my future yet. Prove yourself by revealing my past instead. Tell me who I am and what I have been through." The crowd immediately erupted into murmurs. "Whoa, that's a difficult request..." "If he gets it wrong, Jonathan is finished." "This is a real test." Patrick, who stood beside the elderly woman, folded his arms across his chest. His sharp eyes remained fixed on Jonathan, clearly prepared to intervene if the young man said anything inappropriate. Jonathan took a deep breath. This was exactl

In truth, the elderly woman lived not far from the town square. Every weekend, she would come there for a leisurely walk, enjoying the lively atmosphere while breathing in the fresh air beneath the banyan tree. She had actually been standing among the crowd for quite some time, quietly observing Jonathan from a distance. After seeing several of his predictions come true, her curiosity was piqued. In the end, she decided to step forward and personally test the abilities of this young fortune teller. As soon as she sat down on the small chair prepared for her, the middle-aged man behind her, Patrick, her personal bodyguard and most trusted confidant, immediately stepped forward to support her respectfully. His expression remained vigilant, as though he would not allow even the slightest threat to come near her.Jonathan felt his blood pumping with excitement. Confidently, he removed the black sunglasses that had been covering his eyes the whole time. The crowd was instantly astonished.

Because two consecutive fortunes came true almost immediately, Jonathan's reputation soared. More and more people gathered around him, and in just over an hour, he had already served more than a dozen customers. Every prediction was accurate, but the customers only gave small voluntary tips. Although his hat was gradually filling up, the money he had collected was still far from the amount he wanted.Jonathan grew dejected, wondering when he would ever reach his target. He silently calculated in his mind. "At this rate, even if I stay here until tonight, I'll only earn a little more. How am I supposed to reach ten thousand dollars? These people have it easy. My predictions are spot-on, yet they only give me two-dollar tips. But when they visit those fake fortune tellers, they're willing to pay tens of thousands." He grumbled in frustration. How could he be valued less than those fraudulent, lecherous fortune tellers? He glanced at his hat, now filled with stacks of bills. The crowd ar

On that bright Saturday morning, the town square was bustling with activity. Street vendors lined the sidewalks, children ran around laughing, and elderly people sat leisurely chatting with one another. Beneath the third banyan tree, a new sight caught everyone's attention: a simple stall with a small table covered by a black cloth. Behind it stood a wooden sign with bold words painted across it:"Face Reading and Fortune Telling. If I'm Wrong, It's Free!"Jonathan sat confidently behind the table. His hair was slicked back with pomade, a pair of dark sunglasses gave him an air of mystery, and an old hat rested on the table to collect payments. Bernad stood a short distance away with his arms crossed, watching curiously to see whether his friend's "side business" would actually attract customers.Less than twenty minutes later, a young woman approached with a panicked expression. She was breathing heavily, her hands tightly clutching the shoulder bag she carried."Sir, please tell my

Jonathan smiled faintly before raising his hand and pointing at Bernad's palm."I can read palm lines, calculate a person's fate, and sometimes I use small divination tools. I'm not as skilled as those famous fortune tellers, but it's enough to make people curious. I figured that instead of wasting my break time, I might as well use it to earn some extra money. To be honest, our salary is just too low."Bernad stared at him in disbelief. His face was filled with shock as he asked seriously,"My goodness! This is the first time I've heard you have such a strange ability. So, you're planning to open a fortune-telling stall?""Yes," Jonathan answered firmly. "I've noticed that on the dirt road west of the company, a few old men often set up fortune-telling stalls. Maybe I can join them there."Bernad immediately shook his head."Don't, Jo. That place is too quiet. The only people passing by are street vendors pushing carts or workers rushing home. If you sit there, you'll probably fall a

Leaving the President Director's office, Jonathan's steps felt heavy, but his expression had become much calmer. The anger that had flared up earlier had subsided by half. Deep down, he understood that although Mella had never shown a friendly face, her scolding and warning were not entirely driven by ill intent. There had been genuine concern hidden beneath her harsh words.Even so, Jonathan did not think much of the Sigoro Family. To him, they were nothing more than pebbles scattered along his long road. There were far more important matters than wasting his time thinking about the grudge of a spoiled rich man like Victor. At the moment, two problems weighed heavily on his mind. First, he needed to gather enough money to redeem his confiscated ID card, an essential requirement to get his administrative affairs back on track. Second, and far more urgent, he had to find his parents. They had been separated for far too long, and he no longer wanted to delay their reunion.Jonathan stop
