Chapter 02. The Perilous Journey
Kael was still kneeling on the blackened earth, his breath coming in ragged gasps, while faint wisps of smoke still danced at his fingertips. His world had just ended. Eldara was no longer a home, but a burning tomb. As he was about to help his mother stand, a long shadow fell over them.
Kael flinched, his hand instinctively rising, ready to unleash the same blast that had driven Xarath away. However, instead of a monster, what stood before him was an old man in a tattered gray robe. His hand held an old wooden staff, and his eyes—faded blue yet sharp—gazed at Kael with a depth that transfixed the young man.
"Don't waste your energy, lad," the man's voice was heavy, calm like distant thunder. "That fire won't emerge just because you're scared. It needs purpose, not mere fear."
"Who are you?" Kael asked, his voice hoarse. He pulled his mother closer, shielding her from this stranger.
The old man didn't answer. He approached, ignoring Kael's wary gaze, and knelt before them. His wrinkled fingers touched Kael's chin, forcing the young man to look directly at him. For a few seconds, the atmosphere was silent. The man seemed to be reading something written behind Kael's pupils.
"Ancient names call it the Ember Eye," the man whispered, more to himself. "It has been too long since I saw that gleam. My name is Selama. And if you want your mother to live, we must leave this place immediately. Xarath won't be gone for long. He's merely licking his wounds."
Mara, Kael's mother, coughed from the still-dense smoke. She looked at Selama, then at her son. "Kael, we have to go. He's right."
With Selama's help, they crept away from the remnants of Eldara village, moving through the morning mist that mingled with the smoke of the burning. They entered the Forbidden Forest, an area usually avoided by villagers, but now their only remaining hiding place.
Three days passed in agonizing flight. Kael's feet were blistered, his stomach ached with hunger, but the burden on his mind was far heavier. Every time he closed his eyes, he saw the fire. He saw the pillar of light exploding from his hand. He felt as if he carried a monster within his own veins.
In a small cave recess hidden behind a waterfall, they stopped to rest. Selama sat before a small campfire he had lit the ordinary way—by striking stones. He looked at Kael, who kept his hands hidden beneath his robe.
"You hate that power, don't you?" Selama asked without turning his head.
"I'm afraid of it," Kael admitted, his voice trembling. "I almost burned Mother. I could destroy everything if I lose control again."
Selama tossed a piece of wood into the fire. "That fire is like a sword, Kael. In the hands of a killer, it takes lives. In the hands of a protector, it provides safety. You are not a destroyer, unless you let your fear take control."
Selama rose to his feet, his movements, though slow, still exuded authority. "Look at me."
The old man raised his right hand. Without a spark, without the friction of stones, a small ball of fire appeared in the center of his palm. Its color was not ordinary orange, but a calm, pale blue. The fire did not burn Selama's hand; it seemed to breathe in sync with his heartbeat.
"You... you're like me too?" Kael's eyes widened.
"I am a remnant of a nearly forgotten past," Selama replied sadly. "A Master of the Fire Element. My task is to ensure that the descendants of the Conqueror do not fade before they have a chance to illuminate the world. Kael, the fire within you is a blood inheritance. You cannot discard it; you can only tame it."
Kael stared at the blue fireball with both awe and horror. "How?"
"Starting today, you will learn to breathe with your fire. You will learn to feel it not as an enemy, but as a part of your soul."
Selama instructed Kael to sit cross-legged. The first exercise was not to unleash a great blast, but something far more difficult: concentration. Kael had to try to transfer thermal energy from his chest to the tip of his index finger without burning anything.
Kael tried repeatedly, and repeatedly he failed. Sometimes the fire extinguished before it could even appear; at other times, small sparks erupted wildly, almost hitting his face. Frustration began to creep into his heart.
"Don't force it, Kael. Feel the flow. Don't hold it back, but guide it," Selama instructed patiently, though occasionally the old man winced, holding his waist, as if an old wound was throbbing again.
Amidst the emotionally draining training, the forest, usually bustling with the sounds of insects, suddenly fell silent. Birds perched in the trees suddenly took flight in unison, as if a large predator had just stepped into their territory.
Selama stood up quickly, gripping his staff tightly. His calm face turned tense. He sniffed the air, and his eyes narrowed. "He's too fast."
"Who?" Mara asked, her face paling again.
"Xarath," Selama whispered. "He no longer searches with his eyes. He seeks your energy vibrations, Kael. Your blast in the village has marked your soul like a beacon in the darkness for monsters."
Kael stood, his hands trembling violently. "Not yet. I'm not ready. I can't even light a candle properly!" His mind screamed in panic. He looked towards the dark forest outside the cave. The large trees seemed to tremble as something massive moved behind them.
A pungent sulfurous smell began to seep into the cave, masking the scent of damp earth. The atmosphere grew so cold, a strange contrast considering they were being hunted by an enemy hungry for fire power.
"Kael, stay behind me," Selama commanded, his voice no longer sounding like a frail old man. An aura of authority emanated from him.
Suddenly, from behind the dark thicket, a heavy, hoarse growl was heard. It was not an ordinary animal's growl. It was the sound of hatred, honed over centuries. A sound that made Kael's hair stand on end and his heart seem to stop beating.
Grrr...
The sound was very close. Too close. Only a few meters from the wide-open mouth of their cave. A pair of glowing red eyes emerged from behind the tree shadows, staring hungrily directly at Kael.
Xarath had found them.

CHAPTER 59: Traces of Life in the Healed LandsThe days in the City of Hope moved to a new rhythm—a cadence that was quieter, yet profoundly more meaningful. Kael, the Guardian of Will, was no longer just a war leader or a sentinel against the dark. He had become a catalyst for life. The power of his "fire of will," which now shone brightly, was no longer merely a shield; it had become a source of fertility. He was often seen in the fields beyond the city walls, not with a sword or weapon, but with bare hands. He would touch the soil that had once withered under the touch of the Nothingness, close his eyes, and channel the warmth from within. Slowly, new green shoots would break the surface, dry earth would grow moist, and life would bloom once more. It was not a spectacular magic, but a subtle process of healing—a reminder that true power often lies in the ability to nurture, not destroy. The farmers, initially hesitant, now looked upon him with awe and gratitude. they saw how barre

CHAPTER 58: Echoes of the Fire of LifeKael sat in his modest room, illuminated by the dim glow of a lantern. Spread before him were ancient scrolls borrowed from Dr. Elara, containing records of the Guardians of Light, The Stopper, and the Nothingness. He had spent days studying these texts, trying to grasp the essence of the "Fire of Life and the Fire of Will" that had now become his strength. He was no longer Kael the Fire Conqueror, the hero burdened by a devastating power. He was Kael, the Guardian of Will. His strength no longer originated from an external fire that burned, but from an internal flame that illuminated. A fire born of love, hope, and resolve. But what were its limits? How strongly could this "Fire of Will" hold out against the eternal Nothingness?Dr. Elara, despite her advanced age, remained spirited in her research. She had discovered more details on how the Guardians of Light once used the Fire of Life to hold back the Nothingness—not with destructive force, bu

Five years filled with reconstruction, peace, and healing. The City of Hope had become a beacon of prosperity, living proof that life and creation always find a way, even after the darkest of times. Kael, now known as the Guardian of Will, carried out his role with total dedication. His grey robes had become a symbol of hope rather than fear.He no longer wielded the Crystal of Clarity in physical combat. The crystal was now kept safely in the ancient library—a reminder of a dark past and a hard-won victory. Kael's strength no longer lay in a fire that burned, but in his ability to inspire, to unite, and to nurture the "Fire of Life" within others. He spent much of his time with Rian, now thirteen—a teenager full of curiosity and spirit. Rian did not possess magical powers like Kael once did, but he had a powerful will and had inherited Kae

CHAPTER 56: The Era of Pure FireThe blinding golden light slowly receded, leaving Kael panting in the center of the Ashfall crater. He was no longer alone. Before him stood The Stopper, the god of pure fire, now liberated from the clutches of the Nothingness. His figure towered high, no longer terrifying, but radiating an aura of soothing warmth and pure power. His eyes, which had once flared red with rage, now glowed softly like the rising sun."You... have freed me," The Stopper’s voice echoed, no longer through the resonance of the vacuum, but through a voice full of strength and warmth, as if carrying the very energy of creation. "Your fire of will... has reignited the spark of life."Kael looked at The Stopper, his heart filled with an immense sense of relief. He had succeeded. Though he had nearly vanished, he had managed to decouple the fire god from the void. He looked down at his hands; the Crystal of Clarity now felt cold, its light dimmed, its energy fully spent. From a d

CHAPTER 55: Battle at the Heart of the VoidKael staggered to his feet, the Crystal of Clarity in his hand emitting a dim but steady silvery-blue light. The piercing cold that had nearly erased him began to recede, replaced by a gentle yet potent warmth from the crystal. The giant shadow of the Nothingness hissed before him, its hollow red eyes glaring at the crystal as if disturbed by such pure light."You... found... it..." The voice of the Nothingness rasped in Kael's mind—no longer a whisper, but a hiss filled with hatred and disbelief. It was as if the crystal were an impossibility, an anomaly in its plan of total erasure.Kael raised the Crystal of Clarity high. The silvery-blue light began to shine brighter, reflecting off the carvings on the shattered remains of the seal's structure. His fire of will, which had almost been extinguished, began to pulse once more, bolstered by the crystal's pure energy. "I will not let you erase everything!" Kael cried out, his voice ringing wit

CHAPTER 54: On the Threshold of Emptiness and LightKael stood tall, his breath coming in ragged gasps, but his eyes burned with an unyielding fire. The silvery circle of light surrounding him expanded, stronger than ever before, pushing back the black mist of the Nothingness that had nearly swallowed him. He had rediscovered his core—the essence of the Fire of Life that does not burn, but illuminates. The fire symbol shone brightly in his mind, a beacon in the midst of darkness. However, he knew this would not last forever. The Nothingness was eternal; it was merely waiting for the right moment. He felt the energy of the trapped Stopper echoing within him—no longer with despair, but with pure rage. A rage against the Nothingness that had possessed him, a rage against the destruction that threatened everything.> "You will not erase me!" Kael roared, challenging the Nothingness as it took a clearer form: a giant shadow with glowing red eyes, stretching tentacles of vacuum toward him.
