Chapter 28

When she got to the office, she unlocked the door and stepped in. The heater was on, and immediately she felt the warmth, she had to lean her back on the door for a minute before exhaling heavily.

Then she started rummaging her drawer for the key to the drug center. It was next door beside her. She found the key and stood in front of the door.

Staff were not ordinarily allowed in there, the door is only opened every Saturdays to refill drugs or on days inmates were released and they would need them to sign a paper or on rare days death row inmates are to be executed like Lewis.

She sighed before unlocking the door. The coolness of the placid room chilled her, and the white ambience added to the fresh smell of mint. They sprayed nontoxic substances to mask the smell of drugs.

Immediately she went to the file holder and searched through. It didn't take time to find Lewis's file.
