Inside the tunnel, the clangor of blade colliding against the bony hands of the abnormality could be heard.

Theobald could be seen swinging his swords against the two bony hands that constantly tried to stab his heart. The captain was already perspiring, having been swinging his sword non-stop for more than ten minutes against the rapid attacks.

Not so far away, William could be seen sprinting towards the main body of the abnormality while blocking off the other hands twisting towards him from different directions.

His uniform was already stained with blood from two new injuries sustained in the last ten minutes. His body was constantly reminded of the pain as he moved around.

"Caring about the hands would only lead to exhaustion. I need to find a way to end its life before it ends mine," William concluded.

Since he arrived in this world, this was the only time he doubted his capability to survive. The three injuries on his body made him realize how possible his death was.

SCREECH!

The abnormality screeched furiously, finding William’s bravery annoying — why wouldn't this measly human just die and become its dinner without putting up such a useless fight?

Its eyes sparked with bloodlust, and it unleashed more attacks on the hero — all its hands, except the two William had managed to chop down, lunged at the hero.

The terrifying sound of them tearing through the air echoed.

But William was more than prepared this time.

He was only a few meters away from the main body and his eyes were already locked on a specific target — its eyes!

"Come at me with all you've got!"

William barked as he accelerated further. His provoking words enraged the abnormality, which could be seen from its hands moving more violently, colliding against the hard ground and walls while missing the hero.

Although moving so fast with injuries was uncomfortable and difficult, William managed to pull it off and successfully closed the distance.

Feeling threatened by the closeness, the abnormality began retracting all its hands, including the one Theobald was struggling with.

The sound of the bony appendage coming back to the body was easily perceived by William, prompting him to act even faster.

William quickly exerted more strength and agility into his feet as he sprang off the ground and shot several meters into the air, aiming at the massive head of the abnormality.

Time appeared to slow down following his action — the crew could be seen staring at the battle with eyes and mouths wide open. The bony appendage of the abnormality retracted towards the original body at a comically slow pace.

The hero was still midair, body launching at his opponent with determined focus in his eyes as he clashed with the massive abnormality.

STAB!!

Time resumed at its normal pace after William’s collision with the abnormality. The sound of his sword stabbing through the mirror-like eye of the abnormality could be heard, followed by a sound similar to glass shattering.

At the same time, the retracting limbs arrived, albeit very late.

SCREEECH!

The abnormality screeched, this time with frustration, anger and desperation. This one was even more terrifying, sending shivers down the spine of its onlookers.

While screeching angrily, the abnormality, now blinded in one eye, thrashed the entire area with its remaining six hands. Its only goal at the moment was to sever the hero into as many pieces as it could.

Unfortunately for the abnormality, the hero had already landed after his attack succeeded and created a safe distance between them.

He had already gained his composure. He stood his ground and blocked off the hands with ease while yelling at the rest of the crew to move further away from the battlefield.

The amazed crew obeyed the warning of the hero and created enough distance between themselves and the battlefield. Although Theobald wanted to be of assistance to the hero seeing that he was injured, he still joined the others in moving away — he knew he would only stand in the way of the hero if he participated.

SCREECH!

The enraged screech of the partially blinded abnormality did not stop, nor did its attacks.

William sprinted around and blocked as fast as he could. He even managed to chop down another of its arms, enraging it even more.

However, the fight became easier for the hero with one less hand to deal with.

"Its attacks are more erratic than precise at this point."

William muttered as he began planning his next assault.

"Once I take down the second eye, it would lose control and then I can easily finish it off," he decided, "I wonder how many experience points I would gain from killing this one."

William clutched his sword even tighter and began accelerating towards the main body once again.

The abnormality, having realized just how lethal this human was, made all the effort to stop him from reaching its main body.

Its hands clawed downwards and stabbed sideways erratically at the position of the hero.

It also began retracting two of its hands to defend against the hero should he manage to get close.

Fortunately, William had already predicted this action from the abnormality. He pushed his body forward with all his might, bombarding himself with unimaginable pain which he temporarily ignored.

His new movement speed amazed the crew watching from afar as they had never seen any human being move so fast. Not even the hero had been able to move this fast till now — it made them wonder if he had grown stronger once again in the midst of battle.

On the other hand, the abnormality became scared for its life. Its terrifying screech became more of desperation and frustration than anger. Its movements were even more erratic, like a cornered prey fighting for its life.

The human he saw as measly no longer seemed measly. Heck, he saw a reaper moving towards it instead of a human.

William reached his target position.

The three hands twisted in his direction, one stabbing downward from above while the other two serpented towards him from both sides.

The two hands the abnormality had retracted earlier lunged at him from the front. But this was exactly what the hero wanted.

A cold grin appeared on his face.

The scene that took place the next moment was nothing the onlookers nor the abnormality expected.

Early morning had already arrived over the dark island. The sun shone brightly over the evil island, radiating a strong golden glow and heat. The sun easily permeated the small confinement of the room which only comprised of a few wooden chairs, a bed and a tall wooden cupboard where the previous owner of the room kept their wands and attires.Inside a spacious, dimly-lit room at the dark island, the core members of the two groups could be seen standing around a small desk.Melissa and Peterson brought out a more detailed ancient map of the place and described it to William and Theobald who represented their group. Only two members were allowed to attend the meeting thus both of them were sent."The first three floors are very easy to clear, they comprise mostly of mid-level apprentice wizards with barely enough mana in their mana reserve to cast powerful spells. While they are a little bit stronger than the wizards guarding the fences, they are not that much trouble for a well-traine

The crew ended up spending more than half an hour discussing about the plans to infiltrate the dark tower, how to act within it, how to avoid suspicions, path to follow, and where to find certain important people inside the tower. Most of the explanation was done by Peterson, the trustworthy assassin of Melissa's squad. His information and description were clear and vivid—better than reading it from a map.Melissa and a few members of her squad also added to the information available. As they had been around the tower for several days, their understanding of the place was an important lesson to William and the others.During their discussions, they had to halt several times—either when the surveillance light flashed in their direction or when actual members of the cult walked by.They were able to finish their discussion without drawing that much attention to themselves. After they were done discussing, they began preparing to act on the plans they had just finalized."Here."Melissa

William and the crew, now under disguise, were strolling around. From ahead, a group of Gravemind cultist strolled in their direction. They were about fifteen of them in numbers, each of them stood tall with heights above six feets. A few of them had huge muscular builds similar to Theobald's.Their strides were filled with arrogance, something the other cultist William had slayed lacked.William was the first to notice the oddity of the group marching in their direction, and he couldn't help but frown. Why were they so different from the others? he asked himself.William kept his eyes on the small group as they closed in on each other. His eyes was fixed on that of the biggest one in the ground who, coincidentally, also had his eyes locked with his. William could sense weird emotions from his eyes as they jammed; it was something between hatred and disgust. The two groups were just a few meters away from walking past each other. The silence between them stronger than ever, almost as

A few men adorning dark robes and masks could be seen patrolling the mighty fence that enclosed the evil gathering of Gravemind cult. They walked in separate groups, each of them moving in different directions, ensuring that all the perimeter of the fence was covered at all times.A small group of three cultists could be seen strolling together while discussing amongst themselves, unaware of the arrival of an unstoppable opponent."I heard the great leader would be arriving tonight," one of them brought up a new conversation."Frederico told me about that a few hours ago, I thought he was lying. So you guys heard the same thing?" The one in the middle replied."Frederico wasn't lying, I overheard two of our superiors discussing about his arrival.""I suspect something important would go down in a few days. The great leader never visits the tower unless for a very important event, could it be that the preparing of the grand ritual has been completed and he is here to finalize it?"The

William and the crew could be seen strolling towards the vast water body with silent and cautious step. At the moment, each of them had a long black fabric covering their head. The black fabric served as a camouflage each time the beam of the light rotated in their direction. As the land was plain and filled with dark sand and skeletal remains, covering themselves in black clothings made them more difficult to detect from afar.Thankfully, this barren land had no sort of abnormalities, not even corrupted creatures that usually raided the night. If there were unlucky enough to have faced anyone, their location would be revealed to the cult once and their entire plan would be ruined."Walk faster! We need to be at the island before morning arrives!"Theobald announced to the others while strolling beside the hero. Both of them took long strides forward, their eyes cautiously scanning their surroundings from time to time.King Julian and the others increased their pace and soon caught up

After the peculiar sensation of passing through the portal faded, William found himself standing in a strange, unfamiliar location."Wow!"The scene before him prompted the hero to exclaim in genuine astonishment.Spread before his eyes was a vast, barren land plunged into darkness and gloom. Only the faint crescent light of the full moon hanging in the sky battled the intense blackness. Not far from his current position, William’s gaze fell on a truly vast, large water body that stretched over a long distance, seemingly unending from his perspective. The hero needed no geography expert to tell him this was Dark Island, the sacred landmark and hideout of the most terrifying dark wizard cult in this dark world. The sound of water calmly flowing could be heard clearly, and the waters were almost visible as they softly reflected the moon."What is that?"A surprised voice muttered behind the hero as its owner’s eyes suddenly and instantly fell upon a mysterious, silhouetted structure ris
