“Senior Victor! Senior Victor!”

Victor, who was busy training his magical power in his room, immediately opened his eyes in annoyance when one of his juniors called out from outside his room.

“What’s all the noise about?! Don’t you know I’m training my magical power?!” Victor snapped as he opened the door.

“Master Elena has returned!”

Victor’s right eyebrow rose. “Good that Master has returned,” he said with a furrowed brow. “Why do you look so panicked?”

Victor already knew that his master had immediately gone to look for Lucan at Mount Mistveil when she heard about the boy’s disappearance.

However, three months had already passed. His junior fellow disciple could not possibly have survived on Mount Mistveil with his poor magical abilities.

The best thing Elena could find on Mount Mistveil was probably just his bones!

“However, Senior, Master Elena found–”

“Silence,” Victor interrupted when he saw Elena’s group entering the courtyard where the students lived.

Although he was confused about why Elena had come there, Victor knew what he had to do.

Victor hurriedly straightened his clothes, then left his room to approach Elena.

“Master!”

Victor’s loud cry drew the attention of Elena’s group. The lively atmosphere became silent when Victor prostrated himself before his master.

“Forgive this foolish student for failing to protect my junior fellow disciple!” Victor cried again.

“What do you mean?” Elena, who was talking to her eldest student, frowned in confusion.

“Lucan’s disappearance was my fault!”

Hearing Victor’s words, Elena’s furrowed brow relaxed. She only knew that Lucan had disappeared on Mount Mistveil from her eldest student, but she had not had time to find out the general details of the story and who had allowed Lucan to climb the mountain alone.

Now, she knew.

“You did not accompany him?” Elena quickly asked, the aura around her becoming slightly cold.

With a guilty expression, Victor answered with his head lowered, “My junior fellow disciple was very understanding. Knowing that I was busy training my magic to break through to the next level, he refused to be accompanied and said the monster-repellent pouch was enough to protect him.” Victor’s hands clenched. “I should have insisted on accompanying him at that time!”

Beside Elena, Lucan simply remained silent as he watched Victor’s pathetic performance. It was truly amazing how all those lies and hypocritical words came smoothly from his senior’s lips.

Lucan’s eyes studied Elena’s expression, realizing that the woman was very skilled at hiding her feelings in front of her students. At this moment, Lucan had absolutely no idea what the woman was thinking.

Would she punish Victor? Or would she simply let him go?

“Victor,” Elena called in a low voice, making Victor’s entire body freeze slightly. However, a wide smile appeared on Victor’s lowered face when he heard his master say, “It has already happened.”

What did Victor say? Everything would be fine, right?!

Lucan was only an ugly student without magical ability, how could Elena defend him excessively!

When Elena asked him to stand, Victor erased the smile from his face and quickly put on a guilty expression. He insisted on kneeling. “Master, a mistake is still a mistake. I was negligent in protecting my junior fellow disciple! Please punish me!”

Seeing that, Elena nodded her head and said, “You are right. A mistake is still a mistake and must be punished.” She sighed and said, “Tomorrow, go to the Founder's Altar and kneel there for three days. Only when the sun rises on the fourth day may you return.”

Victor grinned inwardly. That punishment was not a problem at all for him, who was a fourth-level Mage.

Elena did care about Lucan, but his master also valued Victor greatly. That was why the punishment he received was quite light.

Victor then thought, ‘Lucan, Lucan, you can die in peace. Now I will replace you as master's favorite student–’

“Besides, Lucan has already returned with us,” Elena continued while looking at Lucan, who had been standing beside her all this time.

THUMP!

Instantly, silence enveloped the place.

“Lucan … returned with us?” With his heart pounding rapidly, Victor repeated Elena’s words.

Victor’s confusion made Elena unable to help smiling. “You may not recognize him because his transformation is so great, but the young man beside me is Lucan.”

“What?!”

Victor gaped with his eyes wide open. “He’s Lucan?!” Victor could not stop himself from pointing his index finger toward Lucan’s face. “How is that possible?!”

Lucan looked at Victor for a moment, then answered in a polite tone, “While trapped on the mountain, I managed to break through to first-level basic magic, and all the impurities and toxins in my body have been cleansed.”

He then bowed respectfully and said, “Sorry for startling you, Senior Victor.”

That was Lucan’s voice, Victor was certain of it. That gentle and annoying voice was something he would clearly never forget!

However, how could this brat still be alive?! Not only that, his appearance had become extremely captivating!

Training magic on Mount Mistveil? Why didn’t the beast spirits attack him!?

Victor’s gaze swept around him briefly, finding the female students looking at his junior fellow disciple with admiration.

‘Instead of dying, why did he return with abilities and an appearance like this?!’ Victor became even more unwilling to accept it. However, Victor quickly suppressed his anger and irritation.

“Lucan? Are you really Lucan?” Victor immediately discarded his attitude. He approached Lucan and gripped both sides of the young man’s arms. “The gods have been kind to you!” Victor hugged him tightly.

At that moment, Lucan heard Victor’s whisper. “I don’t know what happened to you, but keep your mouth shut if you don’t want to die.”

A moment later, Victor flinched when he felt a cold aura piercing his bones. He immediately released Lucan and stared at the man for several seconds.

‘W-what was that gaze?!’

Victor felt horror when he met Lucan’s black eyes that resembled bottomless darkness. For a moment, Victor felt that the person before him was not the weak Lucan, but a stranger capable of destroying him with a snap of his fingers!

“I appreciate Senior Victor’s concern,” Lucan replied with a flat expression.

Brushing aside his discomfort, Victor forced a smile as he said to Elena, “Master, you must be tired after coming out of meditation. Allow me to escort Lucan to his room!”

He needed to know what had happened to the boy before him while also making sure his junior fellow disciple would not say anything to his master.

“No need, Victor,” Elena refused, making Victor startled. “There are many things I want to discuss with Lucan.”

She then glanced at Lucan. “Lucan, come.”

Without waiting for Victor’s response, Elena continued walking while holding Lucan’s hand.

When they were about to turn, Lucan stopped walking and said, “Master, we are going the wrong way.”

Elena blinked. “What do you mean? This is already the right way.”

Lucan’s room was in the West Wing, Elena could not possibly remember incorrectly.

Lucan slowly shook his head. “Since Master began meditating, I no longer live in the West Wing,” he said calmly. “I live in the back storage room.”

Elena’s brow furrowed deeply, clearly confused and slightly angry. “What do you mean by storage room? Who told you to live in the storage room?!”

The next second, Lucan’s eyes shifted to look at Victor, who immediately went pale.

‘That damn brat isn’t going to tell her that I moved him to the storage room, is he?!’

Victor’s hopes were destroyed when Lucan pointed his finger toward Victor’s face and said, “Senior Victor told me to go there.”

  • Fry, the Fried Chicken

Lucan did not know how it happened. Perhaps the contract occurred when the little chicken fell onto his face. However, the contract was clearly a one-sided contract that Lucan had not agreed to, and this showed that the little chicken had devoted itself to him. With a one-sided contract, whatever happened to the little chicken would have no effect on Lucan. It was different from a contracted familiar with the consent of both parties. If the familiar was injured, then its master would also be injured. And vice versa. However, putting that fact aside, Lucan still did not want it. After all, the little chicken was so talkative and could not stop chirping!“You’re happy, aren’t you? Not everyone can be as lucky as you! I–”Unfortunately, no matter how much Lucan did not want it, he had no choice. Even after repeatedly driving the little chicken away, the annoying creature refused to leave and continued following him. From that moment on, Lucan’s days no longer felt peaceful because of the

Not much different from Gideon, who was extremely confused, Elena’s smooth forehead also furrowed because the answer sounded strange to her. As far as she remembered, the boy did not like Victor very much in the past, and often even avoided contact with him.Her chin was raised somewhat high as she observed Lucan. Her movement was somewhat awkward because before cultivating, Elena had always been more accustomed to lowering her head when speaking with her disciple.“Lucan,” she called softly. “If you want to ask to be accompanied by another disciple, just tell me. I will immediately replace him with a disciple you prefer more.”Lucan’s black eyes met Elena’s gaze with a firmness the woman had never seen before. Elena’s heart trembled because of the sharpness in Lucan’s gaze.“There is no need, Master Elena. I am already quite satisfied with Senior Victor.” Lucan respectfully bowed to Elena to express his deep gratitude.Elena sighed inwardly. Even though Lucan had repeatedly stated th

  • Lucan’s Request

“Fully responsible … for Lucan?” An awkward laugh escaped Victor’s mouth to conceal his anger. “Why?”Elena did not laugh along. Her almond-shaped eyes met Victor’s gaze sharply. “As the third strongest disciple and at the same time the guide for the first-level disciples, naturally you are the most suitable person to accompany Lucan in his magical training.”“B-but Lucan hasn’t even reached first-level Mage, Master Elena! He will only have difficulty when he joins the other disciples.”It sounded concerned, but what Victor actually meant was … he was unwilling to take on a burden like Lucan! At this moment, Elena smiled. “Don’t worry, Lucan has already managed to clear his Mana pathways. In three days, he will be able to train with the other disciples.”Victor’s mouth opened again, agape at his master’s statement. ‘The idiot cleared his Mana pathways?’ He glanced at Lucan with an incredulous expression. ‘How is that possible?!’Before Victor could object to her words again, Elena spo

Victor walked hesitantly, as did his two friends following behind him. Their usually long strides were now deliberately slowed down to stall for time.“What are you doing? Master Elena has been waiting for a while,” Gideon reprimanded impatiently. He had already walked ahead to lead the group, but was forced to turn back again because Victor and his friends had yet to appear.“I’m not sure this is a good idea. Master Elena is still exhausted. Maybe this meeting can be postponed so she can rest first,” Victor replied.“What Senior Victor said is true. It would be better for Master Elena to rest first,” one of his followers chimed in.Gideon narrowed his eyes, observing Victor who stood anxiously.
