[You have killed a Level 4 Spirit Circle S1 Zombie and acquired its mana]
The white orb shot into his chest, and Raiden felt the surge of energy flow through him. His mana reserves expanded, and the ache in his shoulder dulled slightly. But there was no time to rest as two more zombies were closing in fast. Mira intercepted the first one. This one was a female student with half her face missing. She sidestepped the zombie's clumsy lunge and thrust her palm forward. "Ignis!" A concentrated burst of flame erupted point-blank into the zombie's chest, blasting a hole clean through its torso. The creature staggered backward, flames spreading across its body. Mira didn't wait for it to fall. She spun and kicked its legs out from under it, then stomped down hard on its head while it was prone. Crack! The skull gave way to mushy brain matter, and the zombie stopped moving. Meanwhile, Jace was struggling with the second zombie — a thin, wiry boy who moved with surprising speed. It lunged at him, jaws snapping inches from his face. Jace screamed and swung the metal rod wildly, catching the zombie in the shoulder. The blow knocked it off balance but didn't stop it. It came at him again, claws raking toward his chest. "Jace, down!" Kade yelled. Jace dropped flat to the ground just as a fireball roared over his head. It slammed into the zombie's torso, engulfing the creature in flames. The zombie shrieked a horrible, inhuman sound and stumbled backward, clawing at itself as the fire consumed it. Kade didn't give it a chance to recover. He thrust both hands forward again. "Pyro Burst!" Another wave of flames shot out, smaller than before but concentrated. It hit the burning zombie and finished the job, reducing it to a charred husk that collapsed onto the ground. Jace scrambled to his feet, breathing hard. "Thanks," he gasped. "Don't mention it." Raiden scanned the area quickly. Five zombies were down already. The survivors had reached the gate and were frantically trying to get it open. A few more zombies were starting to notice the commotion and turning away from the burning shed. They had maybe thirty seconds before things got bad again. "Move!" Raiden shouted. "Everyone inside, now!" The group sprinted toward the gate. One of the latter survivors Owen, had managed to pry it open just enough for people to squeeze through. The survivors were filing in one by one, shoving and stumbling in their panic. "Come on, come on!" Finn urged, holding the gate open as wide as he could. Raiden, Mira, Kade, and Jace were the last to reach it. Behind them, more zombies were shambling closer, drawn by the noise of the fight. "Go!" Raiden pushed Jace through first, then Kade. Mira slipped through next, and Raiden was about to follow when he heard a scream. He spun around. One of the survivors, Dante, the quiet boy, had tripped and fallen a few meters away. A zombie was closing in on him fast, reaching down with bloodied hands. Raiden's body moved before his mind could catch up. He sprinted back, raising the Silvermoon Sword high. The zombie's fingers were inches from Dante's face when Raiden's blade came down, severing the creature's arm at the elbow. The zombie turned toward him with a hiss. Raiden kicked it in the chest, sending it stumbling backward, then grabbed Dante by the collar and hauled him to his feet. "Run!" They bolted for the gate together. More zombies were converging now. At least six of them were all moving faster than before, as if sensing prey slipping away. Raiden and Dante reached the gate. Finn and Owen pulled them through, and the moment they were inside, Mira and Kade slammed the gate shut. The heavy metal doors clanged together with a resounding boom. A second later, the zombies crashed into it from the other side. The gate shuddered but held. Dry, wrinkling hands clawed at the bars, reaching through the gaps, but they couldn't get inside. Everyone collapsed against the walls, gasping for breath. Sweat poured down their faces and hearts pounded like war drums. For a long moment, no one spoke a word. They just sat there, trying to process what had just happened. They'd made it. But barely. Raiden leaned back against the cold stone wall, chest heaving. The Silvermoon Sword rested across his lap, and the blade was still dripping with black blood. His hands were shaking again. He'd almost died out there. Multiple times, in fact. One wrong move then or one second of hesitation, and he'd be one of those things on the other side of the gate. "Everyone okay?" Mira asked, her voice steady despite everything. Murmurs of agreement rippled through the group. A few people were crying quietly. Others just stared blankly at the ground, still in shock. Dante, the boy Raiden had saved, looked up at him with wide red eyes from crying. "You... you came back for me." Raiden met his gaze and shrugged, trying to play it off. "Couldn't leave you behind." "Thank you," Dante said quietly. Raiden nodded but didn't say anything else. He didn't feel like a hero right now. He just felt tired. Jace slumped down beside him, glasses fogged up and crooked on his face. "That was too close." "Yeah," Raiden agreed. "Way too close." Kade wiped sweat from his forehead, his body a little pale from the mana expenditure. "How much farther to the armory?" Mira pointed down the corridor ahead. The training complex stretched out before them — long hallways lined with practice rooms, storage areas, and equipment lockers. "Should be on the second floor," she said. "If we can get there without running into more of those things." "Let's hope the building's clear," Jace muttered. Raiden pushed himself to his feet, ignoring the protest from his aching muscles. "We rest for two minutes. Then we clear out the building and see if we can salvage anything. The longer we stay in one place, the more dangerous it gets." No one argued. They'd all learned that lesson the hard way already.Latest Chapter
Ch.22 General Office
Raiden and Kade quickly headed toward the sound. Through the office's glass door, they saw five people inside — four men and one woman, all pressed against the far wall, looking terrified.Raiden looked them over briefly. None of them appeared injured. No bites or scratches."If you trust us, then follow behind us," Raiden said through the glass. His tone was calm but firm. "Stay close. Don't fall behind."He didn't wait for their response. He turned and continued running toward the General Office. On this level, the only zombies left were scattered former staff members. Following behind him wouldn't be too dangerous as long as they stayed close.Inside the Financial Office, a guy wearing glasses turned to the handsome young man beside him. He held a wooden staff in one hand."What now, Zhao Zhen?" the glasses-wearing guy asked nervously.Zhao Zhen looked toward the direction Raiden had gon

Ch.20 Recovery
Raiden walked back to the group, his mind already working through the logistics. Getting out of the dorm was one thing. Getting vehicles and making it to the Golden District was another."Driving a school bus, that's not a problem, right?" Raiden asked, looking at Talia specifically. What he needed was someone who could handle a large vehicle whilst he, Mira, and Kade focused on protecting the vehicle.Talia confidently replied, "There's no problem at all!""Do you know where the keys to the school bus are?" Raiden continued. Without the keys, even if they found the bus in the garage, it would be useless.Talia thought for a moment, then quickly said, "The school bus driver's room is between the General Office and the Academic Affairs office. His name is George. If nothing else has happened to him, we should be able to find the keys in one of those two places."Talia had been the president of the second-year student council, so she regularly dealt with the academy's administration. Ch.19 Plan
Raiden sat on one of the beds with his eyes closed, sweating profusely. Though he was stronger than both Mira and Kade, the fierce battle with the zombies had consumed most of his stamina. His muscles ached and his arms felt like lead. Every breath came harder than the last.Right now in the dorm room, besides Raiden, Mira, and Kade, there were four other girls. The four girls looked at Raiden and Kade with curious eyes, especially Raiden.Just moments ago, they'd watched him rush into a horde of zombies, cutting them down with brutal efficiency to protect the dorm entrance. That scene was now engraved in their minds.A sweet scent drifted over.A girl wearing jeans and a white t-shirt with long flowing hair walked toward Raiden. She was beautiful and vibrant, with an energy that seemed impossible given the circumstances. She stopped in front of him with a slight smile."Hello, my name is Talia Crow," she said, her voice warm. "What's your name?"Raiden looked up at her, his gray eyes
Ch.18 Close Call II
The female zombie was right in his face now, close enough that he could smell the rancid odor coming from its rotting body. Its face was tattered, chunks of flesh missing, and teeth exposed in a permanent grimace.Raiden wanted to vomit. But more than that, he wanted to live.He kicked out brutally, slamming his boot into the zombie's abdomen. His enhanced strength, boosted by multiple level-ups, erupted through the blow. The zombie flew backward two meters, crashing into the wall with a sickening thud.Raiden didn't give it a chance to recover. He stepped forward and brought his sword down in a clean overhead chop, splitting the zombie's skull open.[You have killed a Level 6 Spirit Circle S1 Zombie and acquired its mana]The moment the zombie died, something appeared beside its corpse. The familiar black treasure box, about the size of a shoebox, materialized out of thin air. It glowed faintly with energy.Raiden stared at it for a second, then quickly grabbed it and shoved it into
Ch.17 Close Call I
The trio worked together with brutal efficiency, cutting down every zombie that surrounded the girls' dormitory entrance.Within minutes, the area was clear. Bodies littered the ground, dark blood pooling across the concrete. But Raiden knew more would come. The sounds of combat had echoed across the entire district. Every zombie within hearing range would be heading their way soon."We need to secure this place," Raiden said, already moving. He sprinted toward the dormitory's security room, a small office just inside the entrance. The door hung open, and the guard who'd manned it was nowhere to be seen. Probably dead or turned into a zombie.Raiden rummaged through the desk drawers, searching frantically for keys. He needed the keys.There. He found a ring of them, dozens of keys labeled with room numbers and building codes. And beside them, a heavy-duty padlock with a thick chain."Perfect." Raiden grabbed both and ran back outside.Mira and Kade were already at the gate, keeping wa
