Chapter 1
Ch.1 Arcana High
The grand library of Arcana High Academy stretched three stories high, with shelves that seemed to touch the painted ceiling. Dust particles floated in the afternoon sunlight that poured through the arched windows, making the whole place look like something out of a dream.
"Gather around everyone," the homeroom teacher called out, her voice echoing off the marble floors. Over fifty students shuffled into formation, their chatter bouncing off the old stone walls. All of the students wore the standard academy uniform which was dark blue robes with silver trim, though some had already loosened their collars or rolled up their sleeves. The teacher, Professor Aldine, was a middle-aged woman with sharp eyes and red hair pulled into a tight bun. She gestured dramatically at a massive, heavy woven cloth with decorative pictorial designs hanging on the far wall. "This library has stood for over eight hundred years," she began, pacing before the crowd. "During the Great Beast Wars, a Titan-class monster actually 'ate' the west wing." She paused for effect, enjoying the students' stunned expressions. "The librarian at the time was still inside. May his soul rest in peace." A few students gasped, while others giggled nervously. "There are rumors that say on quiet nights, you can still hear him reshelfing books," Professor Aldine added with a completely straight face, her voice down to almost a whisper to get maximum effect. But surprisingly, more laughter rippled through the group. Raiden Crowe stood near the back, only half-listening as he looked around the hall. His silver-white hair, a rare trait that drew stares wherever he went, caught the light as he turned to his friend beside him. "Do you think that's actually true?" Jace Rowan whispered, adjusting the large medicated glasses sliding down his nose. His round face was flushed from climbing the library steps, and a few strands of brown hair stuck to his forehead. "Which part? The monster or the ghost?" Raiden replied, keeping his voice low. "Both." Raiden shrugged. "Probably made up to scare first-years." "But what if it's not?" Jace's eyes widened behind his thick lenses. "What if there really are ghosts here?" "Then we'll make friends with them." Jace snorted, then quickly covered his mouth when a nearby student shot them an annoyed look. Professor Aldine continued her lecture, now pointing at a row of leather-bound books protected behind glass. "These are original spell manuscripts from the Founder's Era. Each one is worth more than your family's house — yes, even yours, Lord Fenwick." A blond boy in the front row looked offended, which made several students snicker. Though no one dared laugh out loud. Raiden barely registered the joke as his gray eyes had caught movement near one of the towering marble pillars. A girl with long night-black hair slipped behind the column, her steps quick and filled with purpose. She glanced left, then right, before disappearing deeper into the library. Raiden's eyebrows lifted. "That was Mira Valen." Everyone at Arcana High knew Mira. She was the top student in their year and had been for two years straight already. Her test scores were sky high. Her family, the Valens, controlled half the mage towers in the Starhaven Continent. Rumor had it she could cast first-tier spells without breaking a sweat, something most students their age couldn't dream of doing. She was also incredibly hard to approach, with a cold, distant personality that seemed to repel anyone, especially boys who wanted to make friends with her. She was the type who studied during lunch and never joined group projects unless forced. So what was someone like her doing sneaking away from a mandatory lecture? "Hey." Raiden nudged Jace with his elbow. "Look." Jace followed his gaze just in time to see Mira's robes vanish around another corner. "Is that... Mira Valen?" "Yeah." "Where's she going?" "No idea." Raiden's curiosity flared. "Want to find out?" Jace's face went pale. "Are you insane? We're in the middle of class!" "Exactly. No one will notice." "Professor Aldine will notice!" Raiden glanced at their teacher, who was now showing off an enchanted quill that wrote by itself. The entire class had pressed forward to watch with their phones out, capturing video. "She's busy, Jace. Quit being a scaredy-cat" Raiden said. "Come on." Before Jace could protest further, Raiden grabbed his friend's sleeve and tugged him backward. They moved slowly at first, staying low, using the crowd as cover. A tall girl shifted to the left, and Raiden slipped through the gap. Jace stumbled after him, wheezing softly. "This is a bad idea," Jace hissed. "This is a 'really' bad idea." "You say that about everything." "Because I'm usually right!" They reached the pillar Mira had disappeared behind. Raiden peeked around it, scanning the shadowy rows of bookshelves ahead. The library extended far beyond the main hall where Professor Aldine was holding her lecture. There were side chambers, reading alcoves, and spiral staircases leading to restricted sections. And somewhere in that maze, Mira Valen was going somewhere she wasn't supposed to be. Raiden grinned. He was getting excited to discover the unknown. "Come on." He took off at a light jog, keeping his footsteps soft. Jace groaned but followed, his robes swishing loudly with each hurried step.Expand

Level Up Arcana Ch.14 The Chase
The moment they stepped outside the training complex, the full extent of the devastation hit them. The campus looked like a war zone from the movies.Buildings that had stood proud yesterday were now crumbling ruins. Smoke rose from at least a dozen fires scattered across the grounds. The beautiful flower gardens were trampled and destroyed. Bodies lay everywhere — some torn apart, others still twitching as they slowly turned. The air smelled like death. Burnt flesh, rotting meat, and chemicals.Raiden tightened his grip on the Silvermoon Sword. "Stay close and move quietly. We should avoid fights unless we have no choice."Mira and Kade nodded. They'd instinctively taken him as the leader of their group. They moved along the eastern pathway, using buildings and landscaping as cover. The girls' dormitory was roughly two kilometers away, and that was normally a fifteen-minute walk. Today, it would take much longer.Every shadow could hide a zombie and every corner was a potential ambus

Level Up Arcana Ch.13 Mira's Request
By the time Kade finished explaining the basics of handling the weapons, everyone who wanted a gun was given one. A single magazine clip for each of them.Handguns were distributed first since they were easier to carry and use. Those who preferred melee weapons kept their swords and axes but took a handgun as backup.Bulletproof vests were also given to anyone who wanted one. The night vision goggles were divided among the group leaders.Raiden strapped a vest over his uniform and holstered a Glock and three magazine clips at his hip. The Silvermoon Sword remained his primary weapon, but having a gun made him feel marginally safer. The sun had fully set by the time they finished arming themselves. Darkness pressed against the windows, broken only by distant fires burning across the campus."We should rest," Mira said. "Everyone's exhausted. We've been running on adrenaline for hours."Raiden nodded. She was right. They needed sleep. Tomorrow would bring new challenges."Find rooms on

When the group reached the landing, Raiden immediately spotted the problem. The armory door stood at the end of the hall. It was a thick reinforced steel with a digital keypad lock mounted on the side. This was not a simple wooden door that they could kick in. It was serious security."Of course it's locked," Kade muttered. "Nothing can be easy."Raiden approached the door and examined it closely. The steel was at least three inches thick, designed to withstand both physical force and basic magic attacks. The keypad blinked with a steady red light."Any chance someone knows the code?" Raiden asked, glancing back at the survivors. They all shook their heads. No one knew what the passcode was."We could try to guess it," Jace offered, scratching his head."Four-digit code means ten thousand possible combinations," Mira said flatly. "We don't have that kind of time."Raiden ran his hand along the door's edge, feeling the heat-resistant coating. "I think we can burn through it."Mira step

The others slowly got to their feet, exhaustion written on every face. Some of the survivors looked like they could barely walk, but they managed.Raiden turned to Mira and Kade. "We need to clear this building floor by floor and check every room. There might be survivors hiding inside, and there's definitely going to be more zombies."Mira nodded. "Makes sense. This place was packed with students and staff when everything went down. Not everyone made it outside.""And some who didn't make it... most likely turned," Kade added grimly.Jace adjusted his glasses nervously. "So we're going zombie hunting in a building that could have them around every corner. Great. Just great."Raiden looked at his friend and pulled him aside, away from the others. He kept his voice low."Jace, listen. I know this is terrifying. Trust me, I'm scared too." He paused, making sure Jace was listening. "But we need to use this opportunity."Jace blinked. "Opportunity? What are you talking about?""To level u

Level Up Arcana Ch.10 S1 Zombie
[You have killed a Level 4 Spirit Circle S1 Zombie and acquired its mana] The white orb shot into his chest, and Raiden felt the surge of energy flow through him. His mana reserves expanded, and the ache in his shoulder dulled slightly. But there was no time to rest as two more zombies were closing in fast. Mira intercepted the first one. This one was a female student with half her face missing. She sidestepped the zombie's clumsy lunge and thrust her palm forward. "Ignis!" A concentrated burst of flame erupted point-blank into the zombie's chest, blasting a hole clean through its torso. The creature staggered backward, flames spreading across its body. Mira didn't wait for it to fall. She spun and kicked its legs out from under it, then stomped down hard on its head while it was prone. Crack! The skull gave way to mushy brain matter, and the zombie stopped moving. Meanwhile, Jace was struggling with the second zombie — a thin, wiry boy who moved with surprising speed. It lun

Kade stepped forward, positioning himself with a clear line of sight to the supply shed. His hands were already beginning to glow with orange light as he gathered mana into his palms. The shed was about forty meters away. He could get a clean shot from this distance because it was well within his range, and also not close enough to accidentally draw the zombies directly to them. At least, that was the plan."Everyone get ready," Raiden whispered, his grip tightening on the Silvermoon Sword. "The second those zombies start moving toward the fire, we go fast and quiet."Mira nodded, positioning herself at the front with Raiden. Jace stood slightly behind them with the metal rod gripped so tightly in his hands that his knuckles had even turned white. The eleven survivors clustered together at the back, trying to make themselves as small as possible.Kade took a deep breath, focusing his energy. His eyes locked onto the shed."Flame Lance!"A spear of concentrated fire erupted from his pa
