A man with a black suitcase in his hand stood not far from Ludwig.

All eyes were on the man who had just arrived. Hearing about 20 million dollars, everyone was filled with shock. But in a flash, no one wanted to believe it.

Hanry, who was just about to reach out to Charles, pulled his hand back. He looked at the man in the black suit. "Who are you?" His gaze shifted to Ludwig. "Is he your friend?"

Ludwig ignored Hanry's words. This time, he stared coldly at James. "Didn't I only give you 10 minutes?" Ludwig emphasized.

James, aware of his master's anger, could only lower his gaze.

He felt a domineering pressure emanating from Ludwig. Ludwig had never wanted to make the slightest mistake.

"I'm sorry." His voice was soft.

Everyone present was quite shocked to see Ludwig shouting at a man in a perfectly tailored black suit.

They thought this was a ridiculous spectacle. They thought Ludwig was trying to fool them all.

Hanry moved closer to James, staring at him closely, his eyes moving up and down. "How much did he pay you?"

The question made even more sense than believing Ludwig's words.

Everyone knew Harold's family was ruined, and of course a mere soldier wouldn't be able to hand them 20 million dollars.

Everyone was immediately provoked by Hanry's words. Some of them began to comment.

"Yes, I'm sure that man was paid to pretend."

"I'm sure after this, he'll secretly take Miss Lyra away from here."

Charles tried to get up. He felt his body still aching. But seeing a man come in carrying a suitcase made him curious.

Charles saw that his neat appearance had now become a mess. This made him even more annoyed. He looked at Ludwig's face and became even angrier. "Did you think you could fool us all?"

"I'm sure the suitcase only contains dry grass." He spoke with conviction.

Hearing the shouts, Ludwig exhaled. His gaze remained fixed on Jimmy. "You'll get your punishment later."

James's body stiffened. He didn't know what punishment he would receive. But for now, he tried to prepare himself.

Once again, everyone there laughed loudly. "He's just a soldier, but look at him acting like a general."

Everyone stared at Ludwig disdainfully. "You can't even afford decent clothes, so how can you even think about giving him 20 million dollars? Don't you know how much 20 million dollars is?"

Someone shouted. "Mr. Charles, I think this man's soul has been completely shaken."

This time, all eyes were on James. They noticed the fear on his face, which made them sympathize.

"Were you lied to by that man? Tell me, how much money did he promise you?" someone asked curiously.

“Yes, I’m sure Ludwig tried to trick him. He’s truly pitiful.”

Hanry looked at James. “Why are you so afraid? He’s just a lowly man. I’m sure you were truly deceived.”

Charles rolled his eyes gravely. “Wait, are you one of those men?” He rubbed his chin. “Or are you secretly conspiring to rob this house?”

Everyone who had previously felt pity now felt extremely wary.

“That could be true. They could be conspiring to steal from this place. This absolutely cannot be tolerated.”

Ludwig stared at them, increasingly fed up with their insane accusations. “That’s not true.”

“Didn’t I say I’d give you 20 million dollars?” He paused for a moment, staring at the briefcase in James’s hand. “It contains 20 million dollars.”

Charles couldn’t help but laugh. “Do you think we’ll believe you? We’re not fools you can fool.”

Charles looked at Lyra. “Look, do you want to stay married to a cheater?”

"It would be better if you married me, became the mistress of the White family, and lived in peace. In fact, I'm sure your life would be much more secure than living with that swindler." Charles provoked Lyra. He hoped Lyra would listen to him.

But Lyra shook her head. "No. I won't marry you."

Charles clenched his fists. Lyra's shout of rejection hurt him again.

Charles looked at Hanry. "It would be better if you immediately take your daughter and keep her safe, or they will try to kidnap Lyra."

Lyra's eyes widened. She shook her head and quickly approached Ludwig. "Please take me away from here. I really don't want to marry him."

Ludwig looked at her calmly. He touched her hand. "Calm down. No one can do anything bad to you."

Ludwig's words calmed Lyra a little. But she was filled with wariness. She didn't want to let go of Ludwig's hand. She didn't want her father to order someone to take her away.

Ludwig looked at Charles and Henry in turn. “Can't I return the 10 million dollars? I can take Miss Lyra with me?”

“I'm not just bringing 10 million. I'm bringing 20 million dollars,” Ludwig confirmed.

This time Ludwig looked at James. “Open the suitcase.”

James nodded obediently. But just as he was about to open the suitcase and show everyone, Charles stopped him.

“You don't have to do that, because no one will believe you.” He spoke arrogantly. “I'm sure it's probably filled with counterfeit money.”

Charles looked at everyone present. “Do you believe this loser?”

Everyone shook their heads. It was foolish to trust Charles.

“Look, no one even wants to believe you. You're just doing a useless act. You'd be better off getting out of here and taking that useless suitcase with you,” Charles said firmly. He didn't want to waste any more time arguing with Ludwig.

Ludwig sighed. “What if I really can return your money?”

“Then I’ll prostrate myself at your feet.” Charles blurted it out without thinking. He laughed out loud, as if it were hilarious.

Besides, Charles was certain Ludwig wouldn’t be able to do it. He looked at Hanry. “What about you, Uncle?”

“Of course I’ll do the same. But if I don’t, not only will you be punished, but I can’t guarantee you’ll get out alive,” Hanry added.

They would even prefer to prepare to kill Ludwig. Then, Harold’s family would truly be wiped out.

But Ludwig’s face didn’t react. He put his hands in his pockets. “Okay, then get ready to prostrate yourself later.”

They all couldn’t help but laugh. They thought Ludwig was utterly ridiculous. “Just show me if you can prove it. And then, prepare to die.” He was certain Ludwig wouldn’t be able to prove anything. They were still convinced the suitcase contained a counterfeit.

Ludwig didn't want to answer them any further. He looked at James and commanded, "Open it."

James nodded his head. He did so obediently. He began opening the suitcase and showing it to everyone present.

Everyone was immediately stunned to see the pile of money inside. This wasn't what they had initially thought, which was just dried grass. It was indeed a pile of money.

Hanry and Anne could barely keep their mouths open. The pile of money completely captivated their attention.

"How can we be sure it's real?" Charles shouted.

"We can call an expert to verify it," Ludwig answered without hesitation.

Hanry remembered that he had invited a manager who worked at the bank. He immediately sought him out. "Mr. Robert, you're a bank manager, so you can verify its authenticity."

Robert moved forward, without a word, approaching James and began examining everything. But the man was almost speechless.

Robert looked at Hanry and Charles. “Sir, all this money is real.”
