"Looks who finally decided to show up," Jacob muttered with a smirk playing on his lips. Even when Mason had a hunch Jacob would be here, deep down he wished he wasn't.

"Where have you been, Mason? Have you been trekking all day?" Jacob, not missing the chance of being a jackass, laughed, and others beside him giggled.

"It's too bad you're looking all dolled up, but sadly, you can't afford a taxi," Flora, beside Natalia, said, sending a wave of silent laughter.

"If he can borrow expensive clothes, why can't he beg for a couple of dollars for a taxi?" a voice asked, but Mason ignored them, taking the empty spot at the corner of the room. He was here because of Cleopatra, and if she hadn't called him, he wouldn't have shown up as he was the one who proposed the school project.

"Wait! Did he trek to this place?!" Another voice cut in.

"He isn't even sweaty for walking such a far distance," astonishment laced their tone, but Mason remained calm. He knew they would all be eating their wor

Inside the Williams mansion, the dining hall glowed with soft light, and long curtains towered over the tall windows that overlooked the gardens. Voices and laughter echoed faintly from within, and Cleopatra’s steps slowed the moment she heard it.“How dare you!” a voice giggles ahead, causing Cleopatra to turn her head to glance over her shoulder at Mason, who is trailing behind them. His face is adorned with a reassuring smile, yet it’s not quick enough to hide the hint of amusement as he catches Grace's voice. “Relax, dear. My daughters don’t. Much,” Grace says with a warm smile, as she notices the subtle expression Cleopatra is desperately trying to suppress. As they entered the space, the conversation at the table paused, and the three figures stared in their direction.A brief silence lingered through the room as the girl shifted their gaze from Mason to the girl his mother held close. Cleopatra's eyes quickly glanced across the table, and her eyes immediately fell on Haley.Ma

Then Mrs. Williams’ face lit up as if someone had turned on a light inside her. “Cleopatra?” she asked, disbelief and joy masking her voice. “Your girlfriend?”“Yes, Mom.”She rose from her seat. “Finally! My only son has kept her hidden for far too long.” She clasped her hands together. “I must meet her.”Haley grinned. “This is serious if you’re bringing her to dinner.”“Call the kitchen staff and tell them to prepare dinner.” Grace paused. “No, I'm doing all the cooking,” she added, making all eyes turn in her direction. “Now this is serious,” Helen muttered, making several laughs fill the room.Later that evening, Mason’s car slowly rolled through the gates of the mansion; the rustling of leaves and the distant chirping of insects filled the quiet night. Inside the vehicle, the figures remained silent, allowing an overwhelming stillness to envelop the space. When Mason finally turned off the ignition, Cleopatra turned toward him, her face a mask of shock and disbelief as she too

Mason's car soared through the empty street of the WPD; its tires barely touched the ground at its immense speed. ‘Slow down!’ The thought surged in once, prompting Mason to carefully hit the brakes. The car's tires screeched, and when it finally came to a stop, Mason exhaled, his eyes averted to the incoming truck just a short distance ahead.“You’re being reckless,” Emoji called. Mason shifted his gaze to the left to the figure floating in the air. “If you are wondering how long I have been here, it was the moment where one slip from that steering wheel could end your life,” he completed.Mason sighs, leaning into his seat. The words of Miranda replayed in his mind. His enemies could already be making plans, and yet he didn't know who they were. Though he maintained a calm expression, deep down he was worried and more worried since he couldn't talk to his family about the dangers lurking around.“How am I supposed to protect them when I can't even tell them who I'm protecting them

  • They Declared War

The interior of the car was sealed off from the outside world, creating an insulated environment. Mason's fingers gently traced along the smooth surface of the bulletproof glass, which muted the bustling city noise. He could already feel her gaze waiting for permission to speak. “Go ahead,” he said, as his eyes remained fixed on the distorted reflection in the glass.Miranda studied him carefully. Among all the celestial captains, she was the only one who had the rare opportunity to work directly with their master. That fact alone was a huge responsibility any captain would carry with pride. Mason's calm and precisely unreadable expression has always impressed her.“The attack on your sister wasn’t random,” she announced. "We've confirmed it was planned to send a message.""I know," he replied in a low, controlled tone. Though he didn't know their initial goal, he was aware that such an attack would require meticulous planning and a subsequent follow-up strategy, and the fact that t

“What's going on? What's he talking about?” Cleopatra asked, curiosity masking her voice. She shifted her gaze from Mason to the man on his knees. She remembers him, not because of the uniform he wore, but because of the expression he had earlier when he was rudely accusing Mason of cheating.Mason reluctantly lowered his gaze to the security officer, who was once barking orders. “You should head home and get some rest. I'll come by later to pick you up," he replied.“Later?”Mason nodded. "I'd like to introduce you to my family," he added, finally meeting her eyes. When he saw the expression flash across her face, a small smile appeared on his face. "I'm sure they would love to meet you," he added. Cleopatra, with a slowed breath, nodded. She took one last glance at the kneeling man, then turned toward her car.Mason watched silently as her vehicle pulled away from the engineering faculty, its taillights vanishing into the distance. Once the car was out of sight, he turned his atten

Ignoring the attention, Mason scanned around for Cleopatra, but she was nowhere to be found.“She left a few seconds ago; you might catch up to her if you leave now,” Ms. Sonia whispered.Mason met her gaze and nodded his head before walking away from the preemies.Mason slipped through the double door into the corridor, whose outside felt longer than it had minutes earlier. The cheers faded behind him as urgency slowly replaced his triumph. Even when he had seen Cleopatra earlier, he could still see the facade she wore, the pain lingering in her eyes, and the hint of betrayal lacing her voice as she spoke. That morning was still clear in his mind. He could still picture her face the last time he’d seen her on his screen. She had frozen into silence, hurt flashing before the call ended too quickly for words.“Cleopatra!” Mason called, breaking into a jog as he spotted her near the exit. Her shoulders tense, her steps quick and deliberate. She didn’t turn, making his heart skip a beat
