"Looks who finally decided to show up," Jacob muttered with a smirk playing on his lips. Even when Mason had a hunch Jacob would be here, deep down he wished he wasn't.

"Where have you been, Mason? Have you been trekking all day?" Jacob, not missing the chance of being a jackass, laughed, and others beside him giggled.

"It's too bad you're looking all dolled up, but sadly, you can't afford a taxi," Flora, beside Natalia, said, sending a wave of silent laughter.

"If he can borrow expensive clothes, why can't he beg for a couple of dollars for a taxi?" a voice asked, but Mason ignored them, taking the empty spot at the corner of the room. He was here because of Cleopatra, and if she hadn't called him, he wouldn't have shown up as he was the one who proposed the school project.

With the question hanging in the air, Billy walked in with measured confidence, taking the seat opposite Jacob. He dropped the files on the desk before raising his gaze to meet his gaze. “Mr. Williams sends his regards,” Billy replied. “I will be representing him today.”The temperature in the room suddenly dropped. Jacob instinctively glanced at his watch, noting their late arrival. It also struck him that they had waited for hours just to be attended by someone who, to him, did not seem worthy of his time. His jaw tightened in frustration, but he managed to keep a steady smile on his face, though anyone familiar with reading between the lines could see through his facade. "I was under the impression that the presence of the Williams heir was required for this meeting." "And I was under the impression that the proposal was more important than appearances." Billy responded calmly.Jacob, with his hand hanging by his side, clenched his fist in irritation. When he looked at Billy, he

For weeks the Highs have been trying to secure a meeting with Williams, who has always declined their offer for some reason. Now after finally securing a million-dollar deal, the thought of messing it up already made Billy's stomach twitch with uncertainty.‘He wants me to attend a million-dollar deal?!’“Me?” Billy asked, lowering his voice, as though the walls themselves might overhear him. “Sir, the Higgs family requested you personally. Jacob Higgs is already inside.”Mason raised his brow, his expression composed, almost as if he was bored, and yet his eyes held a sharp awareness that made Billy straighten unconsciously.“That is precisely why you’re going in instead of me,” he answered. Billy searched his face, hoping to find a trace of doubt, but there was none. Mason trusted him enough to reveal the surface of his plan to him, but he wasn't ready to take the chanc
