Make a Decision

Aaron checked the Virtual Reality helmet that Leen had given him. The shape is not much different from the one he had when he was still playing 'Martial Earth Online'.

In the past, Aaron bought it for 1,000 Credits. It used up all his savings meant for his later marriage. He thought his money savings would be better used to support his progress since he never found a mate.

Now, when Aaron doesn't have over 50 Credits, he gets the helmet for free. Plus the money in the big envelope. Out of curiosity, Aaron rushed to open it.

A moment later, his eyes widened in surprise. "This is all… 1,000 Credits!"

That's 1,000 Credits, and Leen said earlier as if that wasn't enough money to eat for a week. What kind of joke is this?

With 1,000 Credits, Aaron can get delicious food for three whole years!

Letting out a deep breath, Aaron just shook his head before putting back all the money. A card flew down when the envelope was lifted. On reflex, Aaron scowled at him before hitting the floor.

"This is a business card," Aaron muttered under his breath.

On the card, was printed the name "Leen Claudy" which belonged to the girl who visited him earlier. It has his phone number and e-mail address. Feeling that he would need it later, Aaron kept the business card.

"Excuse me! We came to clean the house!" A scream was heard from the direction of the bedroom door, which immediately made Aaron turn around.

"You guys must be Miss Leen's errands, right?" Aaron asked to be sure. It was his habit while in prison, everyone he couldn't fully trust.

"Yes, we were asked by Miss Leen to clean your house. And Miss Leen also asked you to relax outside until we're done cleaning this all up."

As he thought, he was silent. After ten years confined in prison, it is undeniable that Aaron longs for the outside world. He wanted to see what had changed.

When he was imprisoned, he was 17 years old. If international law had not limited the term of punishment for minors, then Aaron could have been imprisoned for life for a crime he never committed.

Now, at 27 years old, Aaron still looks like a young man. Her face shone, without the slightest blemish. So, he still deserved to take a walk outside and enjoy his youth before making up his decision.

Aaron took back his bag and the large envelope containing the money before finally walking out of his room.

***

On the bustling city streets, Aaron walked. He had bought all the necessities for the week ahead, and it had cost him only 5 Credits. Compared to all the money Leen give, it was nothing.

After buying all his necessities, he just walked around town and didn't buy anything else.

In the last decade, there have been many changes have occurred.

A person can play movies while sleeping because of the holograms on their phones.

The entire vehicle has been hovering above the ground using magnetic technology, so one doesn't even need to spend 2 Credits to do a 1,000-kilometer voyage.

Amazingly, some buildings also float above the ground and can move anywhere without much difficulty or expense, becoming mobile offices that can travel around the world.

"Being in prison for ten years is like taking me to another world!" Aaron could hardly believe what he saw.

The clothes worn by people on the streets have also changed a lot, dominated by white or gray with much denser fabric fibers. They weren't afraid of getting wet when the rain suddenly came.

Aaron didn't wear clothes like that. In a thick black sweater and headgear, he looked very old. Some men commented that her outfit was a good classic.

However, there was one thing that made Aaron feel a little uncomfortable. He saw the 'Martial Universe Online' game billboards at every intersection. He was imprisoned for a decade by the Martial Online Company, could he be happy with the advertisements?

Of course not!

Aaron again remembered Leen, who made an offer to pay off all his debts.

There's almost no reason for Aaron not to accept the offer, but he has vowed never to play a MMORPG game of any kind.

Just to kill 700,000,000 Goblins or Orcs should be easy, it just takes a lot of time. The stakes are almost non-existent because Aaron will only fight in the world of online games, not in the real world.

However, Aaron became suspicious. Isn't that too easy?

700,000,000 Credits… that's not a small amount. With that much money, the Martial Online Company should be able to hire a lot of Assassins to wipe out all those Goblins and Orks.

Why did Aaron, who was alone, get such a big task?

If the reason was that Aaron was The Unmatched Swords Master, then it still didn't make much sense. Destroying that many Goblins and Orcs would still take a lot of time to move alone.

But even though Aaron had realized the oddity of the offer, he felt he didn't have much choice.

"I should have died already," Aaron muttered as he shook his head.

Wasn't his original intention indeed to end his life with that rusty apple-cutting knife? Until Leen suddenly came along, it changed his whole decision.

"I was reincarnated right then and there since reincarnation is impossible. I got a second chance, and I swear not to waste my life again."

Aaron clenched his fists with determination. Ignoring the hustle and bustle of the surrounding city.

"I had to throw away most of my idealism and be more realistic. It would be stupid if I died just because of that ridiculous oath." Aaron's laughter almost exploded, but the young man managed to contain it, or else people would think he was crazy. "I have to go home right now. If I need to go back to living my destiny as the Unrivaled Sword Lord, then I will do it in earnest. Okay!"

Aaron walked briskly towards his house. Out of the city that is all luxurious and sophisticated, back into dense and slum housing.

Upon arriving, Aaron found his entire room to be very clean. The bed has been replaced with a new one. There was also a video game chair in the corner of the room. All of this must have been planned by Leen while reviewing his room.

Right after picking up the Virtual Reality Helmet and locking the door, Aaron took a comfortable position on the gaming chair. Putting on a Virtual Reality Helmet, Aaron was instantly sucked into the 'Martial Universe Online'!
