Bianca walked into her parents' room, furious, with bloodshot, red eyes.

"Why didn't you two do anything??" She questioned, as soon as she got in, the look on their faces threw her off.

"What are you talking about?" Her father requested, in a deep frown.

"Grandma humiliated my husband!" She said, "Or didn't you see it?"

"Your husband? You think your grandmother is pleased with your little escapade with him?" Her mother fired back.

"You got married to him without our consent, did you? So deal with the consequences." Bianca clenched her fist.

"I am twenty-five years old. I'm not a kid and for the record, I love my husband." She said firmly.

"But does he love you?" Her grandmother's voice said from behind, with the gentle thud of the shut door.

"Why would you say that? You don't know him and you haven't even given him the benefit of the doubt." She answered back.

Her grandmother smiled, then turned back facing the beach painting hanging on the wall, her hands crossed behind her back, she went silent for a while prolonging the tension in the room.

"Do you know how long I have built the Langston empire?" She suddenly asked, confusing Bianca.

"And how is that of my relevance?"Bianca resorted.

"You have to get rid of him. I have informed your parent to tell you but it seems I am the only competent one in his household."

"What??"

"We wanted to mother.... " Her father tried to say.

"But you didn't." She fired back.

Bianca stood in shock, her mind trying to process her thoughts. "I cannot divorce George. He loves me as much as I love him."

"He is a leech! Bianca. Only here to suck on money from you! Don't you get it?" Grandma Lang turned to her briefly, her eyes squinting in disappointment.

"He is my husband!!" She fired back, "And I love him!" And with that, Bianca couldn't take it any longer, she stormed off shutting the door behind her.

Grandma Lang stared in displeasure, holding her cane firmly, her face masked into a frown.

"What do we do now, mother? She's clearly in love with that nitwit." Mr. Langston replied.

"We'll have to break them apart." She cursed under her breath, and Miko and Diane exchanged glances with each other.

"How?"

"Leave that to me." She replied, "And get your acts together." She resorted, "I can't be doing all this by myself.." She grunted before walking out of the bedroom.

.

.

Bianca opened the door slowly, closed it, and rested her back against it, as she heaved a deep sigh of frustration. Her gaze was staring at the roof of her bedroom.

"You look exhausted..." A soothing voice said, she immediately drifted her glance to the bed to see her husband sitting at the edge of the bed with a white towel in his hand.

"Babe..." She slowly called, "You're here."

"Yes I am....you look tired, I'm sure your grandmother has given you an earful " He said in a light giggle.

"When has she not?" she replied, rolling her eyes as she walked towards him.

George gently held her soft hands, "I'm sorry your family treats you this way because of me."

Her brows arched in a tease, "Oh, really now.." They both shared a laugh, " You shouldn't let them treat you like that, you are my husband and therefore you are a Langston."

"Are you sure? Because the name Garcia is a dent to your name." He said with a pang of pain laced in his voice.

"And I will choose a Garcia over and over? Because he's sweet and kind." She said giving him a light kiss on the lips.

"If only I could solve the company problems then maybe Grandma would be happy for me."

"You will, even if I have to buy the whole company for you..."

Bianca sharply drifted her gaze to him, "Really now...my husband's so kind." she teased.

George flashed a warm smile before saying again, "So for now I can only afford to give you a warm, soothing, and refreshing bath. And how about massages?" He asked.

"Oh my gosh, you're the best!" She lets out a happy laugh as he scoops her up in his hands, heading for the bathroom.

.

.

.

The next morning she opened her eyes to see that the room was empty, George had gone to work, just as she turned her gaze she saw a tray of breakfast with a note,

"Enjoy your day " Feeling giggled, she got up and dressed up for the office.

By eight in the morning, she walked into the Langstons' Empire, feeling ecstatic about starting her day.

He phoned buzzed, then she stopped on her tracks as she took a look at it, it was a message from George.

"Have a pleasant day today..." Just as she was about to reply, her assistant walked in half-panicking.

"Ma'am..." She called approaching Bianca.

"Mel? What's with the looks on your face??"

"The boardroom is on fire..."

Her face instantly switched to worry, "Fire?"

"Not technically....your grandmother is having a meeting with the members of the board and shareholders and..." Her voice trailed.

"It's not looking good, is it?" Bianca asked and Mel shook her head.

"Let's go." She said in an instant,

By the time they got to the boardroom, she walked in, it was rowdy and noisy.

"What is going on here?" She asked, her eyes darting around she rushed to her grandmother, "Are you okay, Grandma?" She tried to hold her but Grandma Langston snapped her hands away.

"You caused this." She frowned deeply," You and that husband of yours!"

"What is going on??" She asked in confusion.

"A certain Mr. Whitemore has been buying our stocks." One of the directors said, his voice laced with anger.

"And you know what that means?" Her grandmother frowned.

"They become a major shareholder of the company." Bianca finished.

"Your decision to stay with your husband would kick us out of our very own company. You ungrateful child!!!" She raised her cane to hit Bianca in anger.

"Don't you dare hit her!!!!" George's voice roared from behind as he held the cane before it could hit his wife but unfortunately, Mrs. Langston lost her balance, falling to the ground and losing consciousness.

Briefly opening her eyes, Bianca sees her grandmother on the floor. Her eyes widened in shock.

"Grandma!!!"

  • Chapter 12: I Want to See Her

The glare of the setting sun hit George Whitemore"'s eyes from the tinted windows of the matte black Bentley, and blurred across his view into a dizzying muddle of concrete and light. He jolted with a slight tremor from the engine, though nothing from the vibrating rumble could penetrate the turmoil within his chest. Four years, it had been. Four soul-crushing years since she’d shoved his plain silver ring back into his fist in the bedroom. Her eyes was cold and hard as flint, and yet here she was-an item that the city, and for all intents and purposes, his own empire, had already learned-walking the floors of the Whitmore Group every single damn day. The nerve of it.'Terminate it,' his own internal voice, steely and absolute. But as the Bentley picked its way through the chaotic streets of downtown, it felt as though a suffocating fist was tightening around his throat. • Chapter 8: A New Love

The Langston open field had been decorated to the nines-or so the planners had intended. Each of the twelve ivory rose and pale gold floral pillars that marched the length of the yard, stood dressed in the most diaphanous white silk. Each floral arrangement, twined through the ivory roses, connected in three varied sizes of diamond and crystal chandeliers suspended by arches, strung over the rows of precisely arranged plump chairs spread over the lawn, their lights flickering in the light of the diminishing sun. Business moguls, politicians, and socialites alike sat face to face, awaiting the biggest wedding of the society season.Right in the center of it all sat a giant floral altar at the end of a long, white aisle, complete with white flowers. The scene could have been a wedding advertisement, and was picture-perfect.It was just not for the bride.Bianca stood at the opposite end of the white aisle from the guests and bridegroom who would be arriving in a few moments, her face a
