A dark skinned boy with flowing, short white hair rolled to the side nimbly, dodging out of the way of a hammer strike and popping back to his feet in one fluid motion.
He pushed off the ground right after, crossing the short distance between himself and his target before punching out as hard as he could. A mystical swirl of translucent energy layered over his fist—hardening to protect his fist and boost his attack power—and as it landed on his opponent's torso, a dull boom resounded. However, Darion didn't budge an inch, not even registering the punch as his knee was already flying towards Aethan's head. Aethan's eyes widened, and he moved back, his palm driving forward and parrying the knee strike smoothly. “That's cheating, Father!" Aethan groaned, a cold look in his eyes. "It's not cheating," Darion responded. “I'm just making use of my advantages.” A frown crawled up Aethan's face, and his eyes flashed with a red light for a split second. Darion laughed uproariously upon seeing Aethan's reaction, dropping his hammer to the ground and causing the earth to quake. Aethan turned out to be almost like his other sons; hotheaded, brash and impulsive. Almost. He would make some irrational decisions sometimes, but that didn't mean he was dumb. He was only young and didn't have much experience. Besides, it had only been a few months since he awakened the Narok Bloodline, so he was still new to a lot of things. His father knew precisely how the power worked, so he had done just enough to give his son the strength to move. The Narok Bloodline was unique. Only one Ability had been discovered so far, which was draining a 'living’ target's Blood Essence through touch, but it was enough as Blood Essence Extraction came with multiple perks. One of those perks was gaining an affinity for an Element after accumulating enough Essence of the said Element through the absorbed Blood Essences. This was not only a surefire way to become an Arcane Sorcerer, but also another way of improving one's affinity and mastery of any Element. Darion knew all these, and he took advantage of it. He brought the bodies of recently killed beasts to Aethan, allowing him to absorb their Blood Essence and start accumulating Elements while getting better. Gaining an affinity for an Element wasn't as easy as it sounded though. It took time, years sometimes—according to his father. But that wasn't his father's concern at the moment. Aethan could figure it all out by himself in the future, but firstly, he had to absorb enough energy and vitality, using the Blood Essence Extraction, and get a body strong enough to produce a Core and start Cultivating, and practicing Martial Arts too. Aethan was diligent and extracted enough Blood Essence to finally take his first step since birth. The day that happened, Martha's joy knew no bounds. She beamed with joy, so much so that she lost control of her Element for a second, making her body glow like a miniature Sun. Darion felt proud and half fulfilled too. His son was well on his way to becoming one of the strongest persons in the Kingdom, the Empire even. But he still needed to build his foundation… after all, he had yet to accumulate enough energy to form a Core. “Cultivate while I prepare for our next hunt," Darion said after he was done reminiscing. “Your brother will return in a few days, and I need you to be ready for your journey.” Aethan's eyes glowed with excitement upon hearing the last sentence. The last few months had been hectic for him. Mostly because his father was preparing him for his journey to another part of the Kingdom, a place where most children of his age were sent. The Eclipse Sect! The Eclipse Sect was founded by Aeris Valen, so he had heard, a powerful dual affinity Ninth-Circle Mage. He was spoken off as an infamous legend known to dabble into Forbidden and Cursed Magic. Aeris Valen had long created the Eclipse Sect before it was discovered, but because the Sect had produced formidable Warriors and Mages over time, it was left to thrive ‘on its own.’ The Nobility and some organizations seeked to have ties with the Sect, but the Eclipse Sect shunned everyone, powerful and influential or not. The Sect's authorities knew that they only wanted to take control of them and their resources to train soldiers for their own benefits. This led to a situation where the Nobility and organizations had a grudge with them. And though this grudge was unwarranted and petty, since it was general, they secretly were the enemy of all large organizations and Nobles, except the Guilds and a rare few. On the surface though, hiding all of the enmity behind, it was one of the two best organizations for the study of Magic, Martial Arts and Totembeast Binding. The other organization being the Shardbinder Academy, an Academy created by the Nobles and Church working together. They did so in order to have a place where their own scions and future Warriors could be trained. Since the Eclipse Sect decided to cut themselves off from them, they would prove to them that they weren't needed. Aethan sat on the ground in the silent meditation, his concentration reaching its peak as his energy surged. His control over Aether, the magical energy used for casting spells and techniques, was superb. It was already on par with a Mage of the First-Circle, when he wasn't even one yet. To become a First-Circle Sorcerer, one had to form their Aether Core—an ethereal construct within the body that stored Aether, allowing it to be harnessed for casting spells and performing techniques. Aethan was very close to forming his Aether Core. He had accumulated a lot of Aether and stored it in his body, which he was using to temper it. His brother had taught him a Technique he could use to build his foundation properly. The Technique was quite simple. It used the stored Aether in his body to pressure his muscles, bones, organs, and energy pathways, forcing them to grow and adapt. The Technique was used by most, and it proved effective over multiple generations. The Technique not only made Mages physically stronger than they were meant to, it also made Warriors more adept at controlling their Aether for circulation and using Techniques. Aethan's mind sunk into his body, and he began pooling all the Aether stored within his body towards a region in his lower torso. The effects on the surroundings were miniscule at first as he performed his task diligently, but a tornado of energy soon began to rush around him, whipping the air and raising dust. Martha peeked through the window to see what was causing the surge of Aether, only for her to see a black matter oozing out of Aethan as he sat on the ground, his brows furrowed in concentration, and his body quivering in fatigue.

Bandits
Aethan landed nimbly on the ground before Ignaroth, shifting his gaze to one of the bandits—who he assumed to be the leader—their eyes locked in a furious exchange, neither looking away nor blinking for a second. The bandit leader tensed upon sensing that Merek was of a higher Circle, but him not moving gave him an idea of what was going on—or at least, what he thought Merek was thinking. He believed that Merek was using them—the bandits—as training for Aethan, thinking that if things went south he could swoop in and save Aethan. However…'Cocky bastard,’ the bandit leader thought, his expression not hinting at his cunning thoughts. ‘He'll be dead before you can even think of moving!’Then suddenly, both exploded into action, erupting with attacks that even took the other bandits off guard.Where was the signal?! Hadn't they all planned the attack together?!— Those were the bandits’ thoughts.Unfortunately, their leader had seen something dangerous, and he didn't believe the newbie
The Green Forest
Aethan woke up to the uncomfortable lurching of Ignaroth, looking up just to find the night sky out with millions of stars twinkling in its infinitely wide expanse. He redirected his gaze and found Merek sitting across Ignaroth's back, his eyes focused on the road.Merek turned his head slightly, sending a glance towards Aethan before focusing ahead again."How's your head?" He asked, to which Aethan simply shook his head and sat up properly. He knew his brother was just messing with him, as nothing was wrong with his body—just a little fatigue that more sleep could alleviate."Where are we?" Aethan asked after noticing his surroundings. He looked back, staring at Mt Veyrun, remembering all that had happened within it—the dungeon stages and how he had almost lost his life.Truth be told, the moments where his life was at risk had forced him to tap into a latent potential he didn't know he had. Although the knowledge gained from the first dungeon level had given him the necessary ideas
Otherworldly
Aethan flashed forward in a line of blue and silver, his blades cutting forward even faster. BOOM! He was blasted back by an unseen force, leaving him to cough out another mouthful of blood. His Aether rushed through his body quickly, mending his wounds as fast as it could, but... it wasn't fast enough. Aethan's prowess took a downward dip, and his next attack failed to even begin before he was flung back again. He grit his teeth and got up, blood dripping down his form, his eyes glowing with an intense crimson light. 'Whatever it is that is behind the veil of dim light, cannot attack,' Aethan deduced swiftly as the cogs in his mind rattled. He noticed that the attacks so far where just flares of the beings aura, not tangible or elemental attacks. Even the spell used earlier was mental, having no physical form. In spite of that, Aethan couldn't do much. If he foolishly charged in without a proper plan, then he was basically handing his head on a silver platter. 'Still, there is
The Voice
A familiar white space welcomed Aethan—to his surprise; but unlike the previous white spaces that had an orb floating midair at the center by some mystical force, he found nothing. He took a few cautious steps forward, crouching as he moved and preparing himself for anything. For all he knew this place might be dangerous, having hidden traps that could put his life in danger.Aethan inched closer to the center of the white space, taking note of where he stepped and how many steps he took. As soon as he got close enough to the center, a flash of light forced him to close his eyes, and he didn't hesitate to retreat a few steps back, his Aether churning. His blades appeared in his hands like they had been there all along, and Aether circulated in the next second, activating their Runes.Aethan dropped into a defensive posture, his feets spread apart, his knees bent slightly, and his swords raised before him. Volt Edge flickered with sparks of lightning, it's penetrative amd destructive p
Rewards (3)
Aethan looked through the rest of the rewards and was surprised to find a set of clothing within it. The clothing laid in a corner inconspicuously, looking bland and easy to ignore. He hesitated before taking it out cautiously, checking out its design with intrigue. Just like most equipment he had come across, the clothing had Runes shimmering on its surface as his finger tips traced over it. Its material was soft to the touch, but when he tried piercing through it, Runes flashed unceremoniously across its surface, blocking his attempt at destruction.“Interesting," Aethan muttered, taking a liking for the regalia immediately. If he remembered correctly, this was the attire worn by royalty—not the usual royalty of his world, but the royal family of the Stormcallers.Aethan immediately put on the black cloth, letting its tight, comfy material stick to his body. He felt his physical capabilities elevate by a few percent, and a smile unknowingly crept up his face. Satisfied by what he
Rewards (2)
Aethan picked up the third scroll, activating the Runes on it as he returned Volt Edge into his Space Ring. He had successfully enhanced Volt Edge after the second try.The Runes on the blade now glowed with a brighter light when activated. Its sharpness was elevated to another level, and above all, when Lightning or Thunder Aether was channeled through it, it amplified it by a certain margin, boosting its destructive and piercing power. It was only a First-Circle weapon, but it was certainly sharp enough to cut an average Second-Circle Sorcerer if enough force was put behind it, and the Second-Circle Sorcerer in question didn't possess a strong defense.Aethan watched as the second Enhancement Scroll burned away. Silent Fang had been enhanced once, but the second Enhancement Scroll had failed, unfortunately. “Hmm." Aethan's brow furrowed as he studied the Runes on Silent Fang. They looked… familiar to him, as though he was seeing them again after a very long time. He had wielded Si
