Chapter Three

Diego laughed hysterically, Marco was amusing him with his foolish words. As the head of the Sanchez family and empire he never showed his face to those who owes him money, if he did then it would be the last thing they'd see before they die. He needed reasons to keep the fool alive, all he cared about was his money.

"Your son? Is he worth more than you?" He asked rhetorically.

"Of course not but all that I have is willed to him, you'll have my entire empire under your command, it will bring in more money and assets to you and he might be more useful to you some other way." Marco offered.

Diego glared at him and he shut up, he began to contemplate his words, what was he to do with a worthless chronic gambler's son? If he needed a man he wouldn't need to lift a finger when a hundred men would troop him, that's how powerful he was.

"I don't need your useless son, I want my money." Diego concluded.

Marco went on his knees in the car not minding his reputation, he held the Hem of Diego's trousers and begged for his life.

"I'll pay the money, I swear." Marco promised.

"How? Your company has being facing huge losses in the past few months and it would take at least three years to get back on your feet and pay me back my money, I simply do not have that amount of patience in me." Diego declared.

Marco shook violently, there was nothing or nowhere he could hide from the all-powerful Sanchez, he was doomed.

"Please." Marco whispered.

"Stop." Diego ordered the driver who complied.

Marco was sweating profusely, was he to be killed?

"Get out." Diego said firmly.

Marco didn't dare move for the unknown, he might just step out and be anonymously shot, that would be the end of him.

"I said get out!" Diego half yelled.

Marco scrambled out if the car and looked around suspiciously for a hidden snipper, he waited few seconds for a bullet to pierce his head but none came, the window wound down and Diego peered out.

"You have a day to repay my money else I'd have your family die right before you after which I'll feed you to my dogs." Diego threatened.

Marco shivered and still watched the road in terror after the Limousine had zoomed off, his debt was so huge that even if he sold his company shares at the lowest amount he could find; he still wouldn't be able to pay for it. Running away from the city was not an option as Diego would fish him out and kill him before he managed to leave.

He was finally doomed and no one would save him, he staggered back to the road and attempted to hail a cab, the limousine was in aight once more and Marco was confused, were they back to kill him? He looked around and saw that there was nowhere to run to or hide. They had chose the perfect spot to finish him off, no one would find his corpse in that secluded area.

The limousine stopped right beside him and Diego popped his head out of the window.

"How about you become my in-law in three days time?" Diego asked with a smile.

Marco was more scared now, Diego never smiled to anyone less behave nice to them.

"Ex.. excuse me?" Marco stammered.

"You have a son, you've pledged him to me moments ago remember?" Diego asked.

"I... I don't understand." Marco stuttered, he was evidently confused.

"You suggested I take your son and after thinking about it, I've agreed, I have a daughter who is unmarried and the only way to keep you in my clutches is to have your most priced treasure with me, you have just one son right? Let's see just how far you'll go to repay your debt just to save his life." Diego said announced.

"Sir." Marco said, lost for words.

"I'll send a car to your residence in three days, get him ready by then, he'll become my son-in-law." Diego said dismissively and once again, the limousine zoomed off.

Marco couldn't believe his eyes or ears and stood there transfixed for several minutes, his phone buzzed and he received with call with trembling hands.

"Sir, what do we do now? The board of shareholders wants to have a meeting with you?" Janet said over the phone.

"Reschedule it to tomorrow, I won't be coming in to the office today." Marco said and hung up.

Minutes later; a cab was in sight, Marco hailed the cab and went straight home. No one was home safe for his drunk wife who was making a fool of herself on the staircase, she laughed loudly as she saw him enter and staggered towards him.

"Darling..." Elena drawled.

"Get off me." Marco said harshly.

Elena rained kisses on his face and Marco was disgusted at the stench of alcohol oozing from her, he pushed her away and she fell to the ground.

"You little whore! See what you've done to us? You spent an entire fortune on gambling and boozing all day long now my life is on the line!" Marco shouted in frustration.

"What happened darling? What have I done?" Elena asked, still drunk.

Marco bent over and dragged her to stand on her feet.

"Diego Sanchez is on my neck, he wants his money back and I have stupidly pledged our son to him and now he's agreed that our son become his son-in-law in three days we both know that's a suicide mission, what the hell am I supposed to do now?" Marco yelled.

He let go of Elena who staggered backwards and gasped, she became sober immediately she heard Diego, Marco ran his fingers through his hair in frustration he was at a crossroad and no matter what he chose, he was still in trouble.

"Diego Sanchez?" Elena asked in disbelief. "Our son".
