Chapter Two

Marco laughed as he smacked the butt of his secretary, her eyes reddened but she dare not say a word.

"What? Are you not happy that I'm showing interest in you? What's with the frown? Do you wish to resign?" Marco threatened.

The Secretary's eyes widened in shock and she shook her head in disapproval.

"No sir, I'm sorry, please don't fire me. I have siblings and I'm the only one who sponsors their education, our parents are dead." She begged.

Marco smirked, he loved taking advantages of helpless people like her. He had lusted after her from the moment he hired her two weeks back and he was determined to get her in his bed as he has done to his previous secretary.

"Then you'll do exactly as I say." Marco instructed.

"Okay sir." She replied.

Marco was pleased with himself, there was no one around and he had intentionally built a side room in his office for occasions like this, he sucked on his bottom lips as he eyed her, she became uncomfortable under his stare and wished to escape. Marco rose from his chair and walked closer to her, he signed for her to come closer and she did.

He went back to his chair and sat down, he signalled for her to sit on his lap and she trembled but obeyed, he was about to take advantage of her when his P.A suddenly barged into his office. He was upset and about to retort when the P.A spoke up.

"I'm sorry sir but there seems to be a problem." The P.A said.

Marco frowned.

"What problem? I'm in the middle of something important, get out!" He thundered.

Janet, the secretary was scared and almost fell down but Marco sturdy hands held her.

"Sir, there's a messenger in my office and he requests your presence." The P.A insisted.

Marco was infuriated.

"Are you out if your mind? Nothing can be more important than this!"

"Sir, he was sent by Diego Sanchez." The P.A announced fearfully.

Marco sprang to his feet causing Janet to fall down, his whole body shook and his voice cracked.

"Sanchez?" Marco stuttered.

"Yes sir." The P.A affirmed.

Sweat creased Marco's forehead and he dismissed Janet immediately, he didn't know what to do.

"Lead me to him." Marco ordered.

The P.A led him to the convoy of Sanchez who was seated impatiently, he looked menacing and gave Marco a dirty look.

"Sir, I swear to you that I'll refund the money, I just need more time." Marco blurted out.

The man didn't say a word but grunted, Marco was scared out of his wits and was ready to burst into tears.

"Mr. Sanchez is waiting for you outside in his limousine." The man suddenly said.

Marco felt the earth beneath him tremble, his worst fear had materialized and no one could save him. Before he could utter a word; the man had sprung to his feet and began to leave, Marco hastened after him, though all the workers they met on their way out bowed their heads to him in respect, he couldn't reply any of them.

They got outside of the building and a black limousine parked right in front of them, the man stepped forward and opened the door. Marco couldn't see the interior and feared he was walking into a death trap.

"Come in." A rough voice ordered from within.

Marco recognized the voice and knew he'd be damned if he hesitated a minute longer, he gulped down his own saliva loudly. He stepped into the car and the door was closed.

"Let's go for a little drive shall we?" The voice said authoritatively.

Marco couldn't help but nod his head, he had no choice in the first place. The driver got the message and the car began to move.

"You do know that I can make you disappear without any trave right Marco?" The voice said more of a affirmation than a question.

"Mr. Sanchez...." Marco stammered.

"Marco Davidson." Diego Sanchez said.

Marco bowed his head and began to shake.

"Mr. Sanchez, give me few months more and I swear that I'll pay back your money, please sir don't hurt me." Marco begged liked a child.

Diego chuckled evilly.

"I've been sending messages to you for the past one month and you have been ignoring them, I had to come in person because I don't show mercy to those who are with my money." Diego said in a thick Mexican accent.

Marco almost bit his tongue, it was true that he had evaded all the messages and hoped Diego would forget his debt and let him be. The Sanchez was a powerful business family and no one in the entire of New York dared to get on their bad side. They're known to lend money to people and whoever failed to pay off was never heard from ever again.

"Do you think my family run this business on water?" Diego asked, interrupting Marco's thoughts.

"Of course not sir!" Marco agreed.

Diego light a Cigarette and puffed out some smoke, it choked Marco as it was an expensive cigarette, he wondered if he could ever afford such but he dared not.

"Do you know the punishment of those who dare withhold my money from me?" Diego asked.

Marco didn't utter a word, Diego was an underworld boss, he was the beast of the Sanchez empire and he was most feared in the whole City, going against him meant death. Marco blamed his bad luck. He had lent a huge sum of money from Diego and squandered it on baseless things while his wife went on shopping sprees and gambled.

"Please spare me." Marco begged.

Marco crackled.

"I know not of mercy, you've crossed your limits and must face the dire consequences."

"Please, I'd do anything! I'll give away anything you want and repay my loan, please don't kill me." Marco cried like a baby as he saw a gun on Diego's laps.

"What do you have to offer me? What will you use as an exchange for your life and more time?" Diego asked.

Marco fumbled for words, his wife was not a match for Diego's and he knew women wasn't a scarce commodity to the powerful man, all he lacks was a son as he was rumored to have only daughters.

"My son! I'll give my son to you!" Marco blurted.
