Mason wiped the blood from his mouth as he stood on his feet with anger coursing through his veins. He looked around the balcony and noticed a little crowd had began to form, clearly waiting for what was to happen next.

The blue screen still towered above him, reminding him of the quest he had just received. Mason stared at the last message and felt his pulse quicken. Was he really going to lose the system if he lost the fight? Or was the system just playing pranks on him? He wondered but couldn't wait to gather his thoughts as a punch to the face send him flying backwards until he hit his back on the wall.

"What the fuck are you staring at?" Drake slurred as he raced towards him and threw another punch at his face but this time around Mason was quick to dodge, allowing the punch to hit the wall.

"How about that you prick?" Mason yelled while giving him the middle finger which only seemed to infuriate Drake the more. Without warning, Drake charged at Mason, his massive frame barreling forward like a freight train. Mason tried to dodge but Drake was too quick. He grabbed Mason and lifted him off the ground, spinning him around before hurling him towards the classroom door.

Mason crashed through the door, splintering wood and sending shards flying everywhere. He landed hard on the floor, dazed and oriented. And as he struggled to his feet, he saw his classmates cheering and chanting Drake's name.

"How do I defeat him?" Mason thought, his mind racing. "He's stronger than me, and if he senses he's losing, he'll use his wind ability. How do I fight against that?"

Mason's eyes scanned the room, desperate for an advantage. And that's when he spotted the open window behind him. A sly grin spread across his face as a plan formed in his mind.

"Hey, you prick!" Mason yelled, facing Drake. "Why the hell do you fight like a girl? my little sister can do better than that."

Drake's eyes narrowed, his face reddening with rage. "You think you can take me down, Mason?" he sneered, cracking his knuckles.

Mason just smiled, his eyes glinting with a fierce determination. "We'll see about that."

Immediately he said those words, they both charged at each other with Drake throwing a powerful punch at Mason, but this time around Mason was quick to dodge with ease before landing a swift counterpunch on Drake's face. Drake's eyes widened in anger, and he snarled, baring his teeth.

With a fierce cry, Drake unleashed his wind ability, summoning a gust that sent Mason flying across the room, towards the open window. Mason struggled to his feet, wiping the blood from his face with the back of his hand.

"Even your ability is as weak as a girl's." Mason taunted, his eyes glinting with defiance.

Drake's face turned beet red with rage. He charged at Mason, his fists clenched, but Mason just smiled as he dodged to the side at the last moment. And with a swift motion, he connected a solid punch to the back of Drake's head, sending him crashing through the window.

The classroom was on the second floor, and Drake's body plummeted downwards, landing with a sickening thud on the hard ground below. He lay there, motionless, knocked out cold.

The classroom erupted into chaos, with students screaming and rushing to the window to see the aftermath. Mason stood tall, his chest heaving with exertion, his eyes blazing with triumph.

The classroom fell silent as the students turned back to Mason, their faces filled with a mix of shock, awe, and fear.

As Mason stood there, staring at the broken window, he heard a familiar ding sound and the next moment, a few messages popped up before his eyes.

[Quest Completed]

[Defeat the opponent who is one level above you]

[50 Exp obtained]

[First time defeating a neohuman, another 50 Exp obtained]

[You have leveled up]

[2 stats points obtained]

[Additional quest completed - Becoming stronger]

[You have acquired the skill, The Golden Eye]

Mason felt dizzy as the messages popped up before his eyes. But he quickly composed himself when he noticed he had been staring at the screen for minutes now while everyone else in the class wondered what he was staring at.

He took a deep breath and cleared his throat before speaking boldly, "I'm not afraid of anyone of you. If anyone of you try to bully me then I will fight back with everything I've got." Mason said and was about to walk out when he stopped and looked over his shoulder. "And it'd be wise to take him to the infirmary on time before it's too late."

And with that, Mason walked out of the classroom, leaving behind a trail of stunned students and a defeated Drake.

Few Hours Later

Mason could be seen walking down Beverly town as he headed back towards the orphanage with his bag behind him. It has been hours since his battle with Drake and now everywhere in Avalon was filled with gossips about him.

There were rumours that he defeated Drake with just one single punch while others said he lifted Drake with one arm and then threw him through the window to fall to his death. But in the end, Mason choose to ignore them as his only focus was the system now.

Immediately he thought the word system in his head, the blue screen appeared before his eyes with information about him.

[User - Mason Blackwood]

[Race - Human]

[Class - ?]

[Level - 2]

[Hp - 20]

[Exp - 50/200]

[Strength - 7]

[Agility - 7]

[Stamina - 7]

[Intelligence - 5]

[Perception - 5]

[Normal Humans have stats of 5]

[Stat points available - 2]

Mason went through the system and noticed a few things had changed about them. First, he was now a level 2 and his Hp has increased by 5 making it a total of 20. Another thing he noticed was that the Exp bar had now doubled after he leveled up making it a total of two hundred. And it also seemed that completing quest gave him exp points and he needed to gather up to two hundred exp points before he could level up again.

Mason sighed as he scrolled through the screen to noticed that he had two extra stat points available. He remembered getting a message about tham after he leveled up.

"But how do I use them?" Mason thought in his head and gasped as a few messages popped up before him.

[You have two stat points available]

[You can distribute them to any stat of your choice]

[Would you like to distribute them now?]

"Would I like to distribute them now? Of course I would like to distribute them now!" Mason yelled in his head as he thought of which stat to distribute the points to.

"Increasing my stamina will be a waste right now. What's the point of having stamina if I can't defeat my opponent? Increasing my agility will be a good idea since it will serve as a good escape option but I don't want that right now. Increasing my intelligence and perception is also waste too. The thing I need right now is the strength to crush my opponent so it be better to increase the strength stat."

Mason thought in his head as he finally decided to increase the strength stat. Immediately he did, he felt a sizzling chill rush through his veins and body. After a while it stopped and Mason could feel that his body had gotten a little bit stronger.

He immediately went to the status screen and noticed his strength had indeed increased.

As Mason stared at the screen, his eyes spotted the skill tab and he immediately remembered that he had gotten a skill after defeating Drake.

Immediately, he went to the skill tab and noticed he indeed had unlocked a new skill.

[Active Skill - The Golden Eye]

[Level 1]

[Information: The third eye of the Archdemon Asmodeus. With the eye, you're able to pierced through any illusion and gain knowledge of any being or object.]

As Mason read through the information, he wondered what kind of skill it was and immediately tried using it on someone who was walking forward towards him.

[Name - Charlie Fox]

[Race- Human]

[Ability - stone skin]

[Level: 2.5]

[Information: Able to cover any part of the skin with a stone structure and hardened that part]

"Hell fucking no I can't believe this!" Mason yelled in his head as he read the information. He couldn't believe it, although the skill was not an offensive or defensive one, it was indeed a powerful skill and he couldn't wait to see what skills he would gain in the future.

As Mason continued walking down Beverly town with the screen towering above him, Mason knew for sure that the system was real and perhaps his only chance at getting stronger. And maybe one day, when he gotten really strong, the system would grant him his wish of fighting against the dragon bloods while protecting his home.

  • Night Has Come

In the long hours leading up to midnight, Mason stood before the broad mirror, dressed in a black suit that complemented the mask on his face. [Intermediate Gauntlets Equipped]The system announced, and Mason took a deep breath as he examined the gauntlets that had now appeared on his arms. Like the previous ones, the intermediate gauntlets were red in color and identical to the basic ones he'd just lost - with the only difference being the significant boost in defense and attack—two times more than what the basic ones had to offer. However, as he kept staring at them, Mason wondered if they'd be enough for what lay ahead tonight. His last gauntlets had been damaged by Carl Wallace's intense punches, after their intense battle at the Dead Grounds. And as night approached, something told him he'd be facing even more formidable opponents than Carl Wallace tonight. "I guess we have to see about that," Mason thought as he took another deep breath, before walking towards the open window

  • A Dreamwalker

"And that just about covers everything," Maya said after she had finished explaining her dreams to Aunt Vanessa and the woman whose name she still didn't know yet."So let me get this straight, you said you started having these dreams after meeting Jasper and Mason, correct?" Aunt Vanessa asked with a serious expression, and Maya nodded."And these boys, what are they?" Maya hesitated for a while as Aunt Vanessa asked the question, wondering why she had even asked it in the first place or what it had to do with the dreams she was having. But when she thought of the terrible dream she'd had and her reason for being here, Maya decided to tell her everything."Jasper is an original, from the house of Vaughn," she began and took a deep breath as Aunt Vanessa raised a brow."As for Mason... Well, it's hard to explain.""I'm a witch, Maya, trust me, I can handle hard. So just take your time and tell me everything. The more detailed it is, the better," Aunt Vanessa assured her, and Maya nodd

  • A Witch

"Welcome home, Maya. We've been waiting for you," Aunt Vanessa said with a warm smile, and Maya found herself staring in surprise."You were expecting me?" Maya asked, her voice laced with shock and confusion. How on earth could they have expected her to come if she had told no one she was coming? Or had her dad told them she was coming after she had left home? Maya wondered, but quickly decided to leave it at that and move on to the more important task at hand."My dad told me I could find you here. Please, I need your help, Aunty. Something's happening to me, and I can't explain it," Maya added, hoping Aunt Vanessa could provide some answers. But Aunt Vanessa just stood there, taking a quick, piercing stare at her. "The eyes of a newborn. I see. You've just awakened," she said with a knowing smile and Maya cocked a brow, confused. "What?""Come on in, Maya. Like I said, we've been waiting for you," Aunt Vanessa said, stepping aside to let Maya enter."Waiting for me? What do you mea

  • Finding Vanessa

Mr. Freyborn stood at the edge of his balcony, gazing up at the stars in the night sky as the sound of passing vehicles hummed through the streets. It was 8 pm now - an hour since Maya had left for Cole City, headed to her aunt's place in search of answers. And as Mr. Freyborn stood there, gazing up at the stars, he wished she'd find the answers she sought."Please, Martha—please watch over our little girl," Mr. Freyborn whispered under his breath, gazing up at the stars as a single tear rolled down his cheek. He knew exactly what Maya was and the kind of answers she'd find where she was headed. He had prayed every single day of his life that this day would never come, and that she'd never awaken to her true nature. His wife had done all she could to shield Maya from this life, allowing her to live a normal life, but it appeared fate had other plans. He could only wish now that the heavens would watch over his daughter and protect her from all harm. As her journey from here on out was

"Here, drink this. It will help with the headache," Mr. Freyborn said, handing Maya a cup of yellow tea as she sat on her bed. Maya took the cup and gulped down the tea, feeling it burn her palate like a smooth flame. Warmth spread through her body, all the way down her chest, and a few seconds later, her headache disappeared, as if it was never there."What is it?" Maya asked, returning the cup. The tea tasted different from any other tea she'd had. It was sour and bitter, but worked like magic. And she could feel her body buzzing with energy."It's Namal tea, a specialty of your grandma's," Mr. Freyborn replied. "Your mom taught me how to make it several years ago."Maya smiled at the mention of her mom's name. Ever since they'd lost her, her dad rarely spoke about her, leaving Maya wondering if he still hadn't gotten over her death. But after all these years, she was happy he was finally talking about her."I miss her too, Dad," Maya said, staring at her mom's portrait beside her b

  • Gluttony

"What are you talking about, Maya? What do you mean by 'we are all going to die'?" Mason asked as he settled on the bed beside her, wondering what she meant by that. Everyone else had their eyes on her, curious about why she was suddenly saying that."I... I had a dream, Mason, and in that dream, I saw you and Jasper die," Maya said with fear in her voice and Mason could swear he could smell it on her body."Like you said, Maya, it's just a dream," Mason said, and Jasper nodded from where he sat."He's right, Maya, it's just a dream. Nothing bad is going to happen to us, okay?""You don't understand, okay? It's not just a dream," Maya snapped with fear in her voice and immediately broke down to crying."I've been getting these dreams lately, and I fear they are not just ordinary dreams. They feel more real than you can imagine, and I fear it might turn out to be true, and... and then, I might lose you two," Maya explained as more tears flowed down her eyes and Mason wondered if this w
