“Thalia, you're kidding, right?” Ethan tried to smile even though his heart was beating very fast at the moment. “You came home drunk. You must not be fully sober yet--”

“I'm really going to divorce you, Ethan!” Thalia cut Ethan off without hesitation. She looked at Ethan sharply. It wasn't an ordinary stare, but like someone who hated for a long time.

Ethan frowned. “What did I do to make you say that, Thalia?”

Thalia clicked her tongue. She rolled her eyes, disdaining the question asked by Ethan. “Of course it's because you're useless, Ethan. What else could you be? Your presence here only adds to the burden of the Blake family. With you being so poor and unemployed, do you think I'd be proud to tell people that you're my husband? Think about it with that shallow brain of yours!”

Ethan was confused by this situation. If that was the reason, why hadn't Thalia said so from the start? Ethan wasn't a lazy person who couldn't work. “Thalia, I can work. If that's what you want, I'll do it.”

Thalia glared even more. Her gaze was getting angrier. “You still don't understand. Someone like you doesn't deserve me. Remember, you were able to marry me only because of my stupid grandfather's request. Now that grandfather is dead, of course I can end this marriage at will. Besides, Mr. Edward is better than you.”

Thalia turned to Edward. The man immediately let out a smile with one side of his lips higher. He deliberately glanced at Ethan to mock him.

Sonia smiled and snorted. “You heard what my daughter said, Ethan. You're not her husband anymore.”

Ethan shook his head. He could not accept something like this. This was not news that should be heard at a family party. Moreover, Sonia and the other family members were smiling at this moment.

Ethan took a deep breath. “I can't. I won't divorce you, Thalia.”

Thalia clucked her tongue again. She took out a folder containing divorce papers. Then she threw the folder in front of Ethan. “Sign that! I'm sick of always sharing a room with a loser like you.”

Ethan's brow furrowed. His breathing became heavy. For three years Ethan had thrown away his pride and resigned himself to being treated like a slave. When there was a glimmer of hope to get love from Thalia, he received this cursed letter instead. There was no way Ethan would just give up. Thalia couldn't be out of Ethan's hands.

Ethan steeled himself. “Thalia. I won't do this. You remember what happened that night, right? We did-”

“I've been pregnant since last month, Ethan. And it's Mr. Edward's child.” Thalia cut Ethan off again before he could finish. “I have no reason to continue this stupid ‘husband-wife play’ thing with you. Mr. Edward will be my husband and take care of my child together. After all, Mr. Edward is a man of honorable standing. Unlike a loser like you. Stop whining and sign it!”

Ethan's head was like being struck by lightning. Thalia was already pregnant? And even it wasn't Ethan's child, but the man with the annoying smile? Ethan's mind and heart were completely broken. With sweaty hands, he picked up the paper.

The Blake family members chuckled. They felt very satisfied seeing Ethan's pale face. Sonia folded her arms in front of her chest. “Don't think too long, loser. I can't wait to get a handsome and rich new son-in-law. Shabby person like you better get out of this house before I report you to the police.”

Ethan closed his eyes for a moment. In his brain, his emotions were already peaking. “Alright... if that's what you're asking.”

Ethan quickly picked up the pen and signed the letter. He then stood up from his seat. He glanced at Thalia who was smiling down at him. The woman already felt victorious.

Ethan inhale deep breath. “If that's what you want, then I'll fulfill it, Thalia. However, don't regret your decision. If you come crawling to me and kiss my feet for mercy, then remember ,  I will not forgive you and the Blake family!”

Ethan immediately turned around and walked out. The entire Blake family burst out laughing. Sonia threw 10 coins with 10-cent denominations in front of Ethan. “Take it, you need it to get on the bus!”

Ethan tightened his grip. Even these people were still insulting him when Ethan was at his lowest. They didn't realize what kind of danger awaited them. Ethan walked away from them towards the exit.

There was a heavy downpour of rain. Lightning flashed and the sound was deafening. Not caring about any of that, Ethan walked towards the gate of the Blake family mansion. He turned around and looked at the mansion.

Ethan then raised his left hand high. “Master Volland... I cannot fulfill your request. My duty is over here. And as for the rest of them, I assure you they will be destroyed.”

Ethan closed his eyes. Slowly, his lips mouthed something that was not a human language. Vaguely, several transparent blue ropes appeared in Ethan's left hand. They were very long ropes surrounding the Blake family's estate. And from those ropes, there was a magical wall that protected the Blake residence from the intrusion of invisible creatures. For the past 3 years, Ethan had been protecting the land.

When Ethan finished the spell, he opened his eyes and immediately grasped the ropes tightly. Then he pulled the rope as tightly as he could, making them all cut off. Instantly the magical wall protecting the Blake residence disappeared. From Ethan's vision, the black mists that had previously been unable to enter, now began to approach and search for an opening from the Blake family residence house.

Ethan turned around and left the house without looking back. “This is your own fault. I've been unwilling to protect you from those creatures.”

Ethan walked slowly through the terrain without knowing his destination. After 15 minutes of walking, a Lambo suddenly stopped beside him. A person in a suit and pay got out of the car. He hurriedly came up to Ethan and put his arm around him.

The person smiled. “Mr. Ethan. After 3 years of disappearance, we finally found you. Your protective spell was spotted on our radar, so I immediately searched for your whereabouts. We've been looking for you all this time, the most genius Hunter, Ethan Hunter.”

Ethan glanced at the man. His face seemed familiar, but Ethan couldn't remember what his name was. However, what Ethan can be sure of, this man comes from the Hunters organization. An organization of people with special abilities. Where Ethan used to work.

The man then opened his car door. “Mr. Ethan, maybe it's presumptuous to ask you directly. However, the organization really needs you. Will you follow us to deal with the imminent disaster?”

Ethan narrowed his eyes. The Hunters organization has enemies that are beyond human reason. Monsters, invisible creatures, and other strange phenomena are the dangers they face. If they say disaster, then this is something very serious. In the end Ethan nodded, getting into the car of the person he didn't know the name of.

The Wendigo's right hand that should have vanished... reappeared. The flesh crawled, sticking to itself like an upside-down wound. His fingers tightened on the revolver's handle, almost pulling the trigger involuntarily. A disgusting sound rang out as the Wendigo's skin fused back together. And within seconds... his hand was back in one piece.“No way...”Ethan's voice was almost a whisper. “A Demon Hunter like you? How could...,” Ben's words trailed off. He knew how strong Ethan was. He had seen it himself-how this man stood unwavering despite being shotgunned, how he kept moving forward despite being thrown molotovs. But his eyes were now fixed on something different. The blood seeping from Ethan's stomach. Ben's breath caught. Slowly, he raised his gaze, looking directly into Ethan's face. There was something in the man's eyes-something Ben had never seen before. Doubt. “You... who can't be pierced by bullets, who doesn't even falter in fire... could be hurt by that thing?”Ethan was silent. His jaw hardened slightly. He hated this fact, but he knew there was no point in denying it. Slowly, he nodded.Ben swallowed. If Ethan could get hurt, then... what could anyone else do?Ethan took a deep breath. His voice was low, but there was something in it-weight, certainty, and an inviolable truth. “You need to get out.”Ben remained silent. Inside his chest, a battle betwee

The wendigo groaned, its hoarse voice echoing through the air, almost like a fusion of a wolf's howl and a tortured human scream. Its thin, towering body bent over slightly, its long claws gripping the wet ground. He could not see clearly, but he did not need to. Its black nostrils flared, inhaling the air deeply, searching for traces of scent in the surroundings. The smell of gunpowder... sharp, burning his sense of smell. It mixed with the sweat and blood of the human in front of him-not prey, but a threat. It's head turned quickly towards Ethan, as if he had just realized something. It's long, ragged ears twitched, detecting every slightest movement.
