Reese shifted his gaze back to Tessa, who was waiting anxiously for him to say something.
"Reese?" she called, softer this time. "Please say something, I know I did something bad. Just say..." "What do you want me to say?" Reese finally spoke up, staring up at her with a saddened gaze, yet it held no emotion whatsoever for her. Then he continued. "Do you want me to kiss you for visiting me? Do you want me to tell Trey to leave so we could talk and resolve things? You want me to cry here and beg you to stop whatever you're doing because it hurts…" "....." "Tessa, tell me, what do you want me to say that I haven't said before? Is it 'I love you'? Is it 'sorry'? Is it 'give me time'?" He paused for a reply, but she just kept her head low in silence. "Yeah, didn't think so. As you can see, I'm paralyzed, so you don't need to act like you care because I'm out of your way now, okay?" "Reese, look I..." "Leave." "Just let me explain. It's not what it looked like. Hear my own side of the story, please," she pleaded, clasping her palms together to beg even more. But Reese just scoffed. "They didn't force you. You went to them yourself and gave them access to every part of you. I have no say in this because we are done. Now leave." "Reese, please." Trey sighed loudly. "Didn't you hear him?! He said leave!" "I won't," she turned around to face Trey now. "Beg him, please. At least let me explain myself." Trey stared at her for a moment, and then the most.... or simply put, a wicked grin appeared on his face almost instantly. "Explain yourself?" She nodded frantically. "Explain what?" He tilted his head, pushing off from the table he leaned against. "What do you need to explain, Tessa? Why you're leaving your course rep's room at 1 am.? Why your lecturer had lipstick on his nape after he dropped you off? Explain why you tried to flirt with me when Reese was sick?" "Wait, what?!" Reese yelled, finally speaking after trying to force himself to stay calm. "She flirted with you?" Trey shrugged. "I don't know if I should call it that, but to me, it seemed like it was. The day I told you I wasn't really sure about your relationship with her was when she did it." "But..." Reese shifted his gaze to her, his jaw refusing to drop. "That was the night of my birthday. You told me you couldn't come over because you had school stuff to do." "She told me she was willing to talk it out over wine, since you were busy with work and we were both lonely," Trey stated, watching with satisfaction in his eyes as Tessa lost her composure almost immediately. Tessa gulped back the saliva that had been building up in her throat. Of course she was cooked, yet she couldn't understand why Trey knew all those things. If she could remember clearly, he skipped a year and graduated with the finals, which meant he had no business with her. Yet he knew about her meeting with her lecturer and other guys. She opened her mouth to speak, but when she saw the look of betrayal in Reese’s eyes, she dropped her head. "I'm sorry. I just didn't know what came over me that day." "That day?" Reese said slowly. "That day, Tessa? I was sick. I called you over, yet you declined and wanted to hang out with my best friend." Tessa exhaled. "Look, Reese, just listen to me. I didn’t know what came over me. I just..." "Trey." "Yeah?" "Please get her out of here," he said, averting his gaze from Tessa and to the plate on his lap. "I feel like I’m going to throw up from looking at her." "Reese, you can’t do this to me. You want to let go of nearly two years just like that?!" Reese replied, "Nearly two years of wasting my time being loyal to you, yet you go behind my back to cheat on me, and went as far as trying to do the same with my best friend." Her brows curved, showing how upset and guilty she was, even more so with her tears. "It wasn’t intentional!" "Yeah, Trey messaged you and said if you didn't ask him to hang out with you, he would kill you...." He paused. "Or did Eli put a gun to your forehead and said 'ride me,' because what I remember was you grinding your hips like it was the best thing in the world!" Reese yelled in one breath, causing the nurses to rush in with panicked looks on their faces. "You didn’t call an ambulance. Instead, you panicked and faced Eli for help, and somehow you remembered Trey. If you actually loved me, you could have called the ambulance right when I lost consciousness, or when I was hit....." "...But no... you didn’t," Reese continued, not letting her off the hook. "Trey did. You know what that tells me?" Tessa said nothing. "That I was never your priority. Not once." "Reese, please..." He blinked, and the surge of emotions, the ache, the confusion, the leftover affection, all went silent. Reese set the plate down. "You can go now, Tessa." "But Reese...." "I’m not going to scream, or throw things." He looked at her one last time. "Just leave." Tessa stood still for a second, and for the first time, she didn’t look beautiful, she looked small, and it pissed him off. The nurses stared, watching Tessa crying uncontrollably, Trey in the corner with his arms crossed and a look of disappointment on his face. Then there was Reese, who was breathing heavily. "Is everything alright here?" one of the nurses decided to ask, moving cautiously to Reese’s side to check if he was alright. When no answer came, she bent to Reese's level and whispered, "Mister Myles, is everything alright?" "No," he uttered, staring straight at Tessa. "She's not supposed to be here." "Isn't she your girlfriend, sir?" "No. She's the reason I almost died." The nurse glanced at Tessa, who watched with wide, teary eyes, disbelief written all over her face. The nurse gave the other nurses a signal, and without wasting time, they packed up what Tessa brought and led her out of the room in silence. Reese, who had been trying his best to keep his composure, slumped back into the bed and exhaled loudly. "Thank you, ma'am." She nodded. "No problem. If you need anything, please call my attention." She bowed, rose to her full height, and exited the room. "Sorry about that," Trey mumbled with an unreadable expression on his face, but Reese just smiled and shrugged. "Should have told you when she did that, I don't even know why I said it now." Reese chuckled softly, "I know you to be an idiot, so it's fine" Trey exhaled, "But honestly, I'm really sorry," she looked at Reese, "It's not like I didn't warn you that that they too." "I actually feel a little relieved right now," Reese replied, and then smiled at Trey. "Can you fill the documents now? I can't think properly here." Trey nodded with a smile as well. "Sure. Finish your food, take those drugs over there..." He pointed at the desk where Reese's wallet was, "And change out of those clothes... if you can walk, that is." "Sure." That said, Trey exited the room, leaving Reese, who now shifted his gaze to his front, where a new panel of the screen opened up. ___ [Cold Clarity Challenge: Confront the Source ] Reward: Emotional Detachment [Passive] unlocked → Future interactions with Tessa will no longer affect your morale, decision-making, or strategic focus. Should I Hit The Gym?
"I feel like I'm losing my mind."Reese thought, his gaze fixed on where the woman had been standing. He pushed his fingers into his hair and let out a sigh, believing that he must be seeing things. And that was likely due to the slight headache he was feeling. While he was lost in his thoughts, the front door opened with a creak that echoed through the massive space.Reese turned his head just enough to see Trey step inside. The light from the doorway briefly lit his face, and it was exhausted. It made Reese frown as he watched Trey sluggishly turn on the lights in the living room.He toed off his shoes, tossed his jacket onto the couch, and walked in without saying a word, or even acknowledging Reese’s presence.Reese left his spot, with a raised brow, a frown, and a hidden worry as he approached the kitchen area, where Trey was also heading. He stopped by the counter."You look like you got hit by a bus."Trey dropped his keys in the ceramic tray on the counter and gave a dry chuck

Message From An Unexpected Person
"It depends on your taste," Trey simply replied, taking a sip of his juice. He watched Reese from the corner of his eyes as he lowered his gaze and stabbed his chicken over and over again. At first, he thought Reese was just trying to pick at it, but realizing he was actually continuously doing that and was lost in thought, he frowned. He always knew Reese was like that, ever since they met. Anytime the issue of money came up, Reese would always go far deep into his thoughts without bothering to answer or even acknowledge your presence, until you were done. His gaze softened, and a feeling of regret washed over him. He wanted to do more than just assist Reese, he wanted to support and even sponsor whatever he was doing, but then, knowing Reese, he would rather work till he bled than accept anything from him. Always with the stupid excuse of, "Use that money for yourself and keep it for your future self, not spend it on someone else, especially if it's not urgent."Trey finally spoke

The ride to the legendary Coral Isle felt like the best thing that had ever happened to Reese in a very long time. "That was surprisingly easy," Reese thought scooping the last bit of food I to his mouth. He shifted his gaze to the magazine Trey had dropped on the table by the bed, before he went to clear Reese's papers.Reese frowned at the title at the top, and then scoffed under his breath.
