Everyone was shocked.
“What's happening? Why is the bank closing at such an hour?”
“This is a theft involving a huge amount of money. Don't you think the manager is right to close the bank?”
“Besides, he must have stolen it from one of Casington's bigwigs. He's in big soup today.”
“But what will happen to me,” the rich man from earlier complained. “I need to withdraw right away,”
One of the security men moved closer to him. "You are to leave immediately or we will force you out," he threatened.
The man groaned but eventually followed the others out.
Philip felt bad as he was not able to collect tips from the man this time around. Yet, he was happy that he was able to catch Noah. Humiliating Noah was enough for the day.
Within a twinkle of an eye, the whole bank was empty except for the workers and Noah. At this point, Noah had no idea what was really happening.
But everyone gathered around and started whispering among themselves.
The first thing that came to his mind was to call Gilbert. But just as he brought out his phone, Philip hurriedly took it from him and smashed it on the floor.
Noah gasped. “What have you done!”
“So you are thinking of a way to escape? Never in this life! You will confess to us where you got the cheque from!”
“Imagine the idiot who came to withdraw such a huge amount from the bank. See the kind of phone he uses and he wants us to believe he didn't steal it,” Mark laughed.
Noah went to the floor to gather the phone but it was all scattered on the floor. Even if he assembled it, he wasn't sure it was still going to work.
He looked up at Philip again, angrier this time. “Someone gave it to me this morning! Why would you think I stole it?”
“You know what I think?” Philip laughed, “That you got angry about being fired by Oliver so you decided to steal from him.”
“Are you dumb? Is that his name on the cheque?”
“Well, what if you stole from his customers? You used to be a waiter. You have access to a lot of things. You could have easily sneaked inside and stolen from the guests. Now, you will confess or you will be taken away by the police,” Philip warned sternly, an evil smile appearing on his face.
“See! It has Mr. Gilbert's name on it. He must have stolen it from Mr. Gilbert,” Mark suggested.
Noah sighed. What was he supposed to do now? He couldn't even call Gilbert to help out. How would he verify his claim?
“Mr. Gilbert gave it to me this morning,”
“Really, liar! How did Mr. Gilbert know to give you this amount of cheque! You are just a filthy liar. And this is the reason why Chloe left you!” Philip accused unprovoked.
“What the heck is happening here!” a deep voice boomed suddenly, with a hint of anger.
“It's the manager!” one of the workers whispered.
“Good, now he won't be able to escape.”
Everyone knew the manager, he was a no-nonsense man. The bank has held its name upright because of him. He would not allow the image of the bank to be tarnished.
Mark smiled, “Now you are in trouble.”
But when Noah looked up, he not only saw an elderly man marching towards him, with a deep frown on his face but also Gilbert walking closely beside him with almost the same expression.
“Mr. Robinson, “ Philip started, with a calm expression. “This is a_”
Robinson, the manager, walked past him and over to Noah. He gently helped him up.
Everyone was shocked. What did the manager just do? Perhaps he had no idea what the whole commotion was truly about.
“Mr. Robinson,” Philip tried again. “This is Noah, the man who came with a cheque of fifty million dollars. I know him. He was recently sacked due to insubordination. I'm sure he stole this money from Mr. Gilbert..”
Robinson turned to him.“You must all be out of your mind!” He roared.
No one could talk for a moment. They were all scared. It wasn't every time that Robinson would be angry and his anger was as intense as the burning funnel.
“Do you have any idea what you've just done?”
“Mistreating your customer is a huge crime!” Gilbert added.
Philip was confused. Everyone knew how close Gilbert was to Robinson even though Robinson was younger. These two were always inseparable. Offending Gilbert was offending Robinson. Since Noah stole from him, shouldn't his anger be focused on him?
“But Noah is not a customer, he's a thief and should be dealt with. Let me ask you, were you in Olive and Vine’s restaurant recently?”
Gilbert looked at him and nodded slightly. “Yes, yesterday.”
Philip and Mark exchanged a knowing gaze.
“Yesterday was when he was fired. He must have stolen the money from you when you were at Olive and Vine's restaurant.”
Robinson moved closer and slapped him across the face. “You must be out of your mind.”
“But_”
“I gave him the cheque!” Gilbert announced.
What!
“Are you saying I stole the cheque?” Gilbert taunted.
Shock kept Philip motionless and speechless for a moment. How could this be? How could Noah be familiar with Gilbert, a known doctor in all of Casington?
Noah was shocked at the turn of things. Who would have thought he would be seeing Gilbert here of all places?
He scoffed and looked at Philip. “I told you it's not every time you look down on people.”
Philip's eyes widened with shock. The event unfolding before him was very fast.
Robinson turned to Noah nonetheless, his expression soft and gentle. It in fact looked like he was smiling. “Are you alright Mr Davies?”
“Yes, he just broke my phone.”
“Really!” Robinson roared and turned back to Philip. “Seriously? Is this how you treat all the customers when I'm not watching?”
Seeing the turn of things, Philip went on his knees. “Please, forgive me. I had no idea. Noah used to be so poor that he couldn't even afford his tuition f*e. I was worried for the safety of this establishment,” he pleaded.
Robinson huffed. “For this thing you have done, four months of your salary is gone. I will use the money to repay Mr. Davies for his phone that you broke. And you!” He pointed at Mark. “Three months' salary, gone!”
Mark collapsed to the floor. How would he survive?
“And where is the cheque!” Robinson yelled.
Philip got up quickly and raced to retrieve it. Mark was too dumbfounded to even stand.
When Robinson received it, he turned to Noah with the same soft expression from earlier. “Please, follow me, I will personally see that you get your money. You can stay in my office while I do that. Please, I'm sorry about all these.”
Noah smiled. “Thats fine.”
Just as Robinson turned to leave, he stopped suddenly and turned to Philip again. “Bring coffee for Mr Davies right away!”

64: Shocking revelation 2
Only three people in the city owned the VIP black Alpha card from Heritage Bank. The President, Leonardo, and Alaric heir. But who would have thought the son of Alaric would come to his restaurant that night? And an ordinary waiter couldn't even recognise the famous Alaric Cedric!“But sir, the card was declined. I swiped it and it didn't even recognise it,” the waiter explained.“This is why you need to be extra careful whenever you are at work. This isn't a regular card,” he continued, his voice dropping into something edged. “It's encrypted. You don't swipe it, you authenticate it.”Encrypted? What does that mean?Martin didn't answer immediately. Instead, he took the machine from him with controlled patience, like someone correcting a costly mistake. Then, he placed the card flat against the reader.A soft beep cut through the silence.Everyone froze.Martin's eyes flicked to the screen. For a moment, he just stared, then a smile spread across his face.“Payment of forty-five thou

“Yes, sure. His order is $45,000.”Richard's throat went dry. His lips parted, but no words came out first. He dragged a hand down his face forcing himself to breathe as every eye in the room turned towards him. “Who_who hasn't opened their wine yet?” he asked, his voice tight, almost cracking.“Everyone has!” Linda answered quickly, her tone laced with rising fear. “Every single bottle.”A ripple of unease spread across the table.Richard let out a hollow laugh, shaking his head. “That's insane. Where am I supposed to get that kind of money from? My budget was $100,000.”Noah leaned back slightly, a faint, almost amused smile playing on his lips. “Well, I tried to warn you,” he said calmly. “But you didn't listen.”Richard snapped his head towards him, irritation flashing. “Why don't you speak for yourself!” he shot back. “It's not as if you can afford your bill.”Noah's smile didn't fade, it sharpened. “Who said I can't?" Noah replied. “I am nothing like you.”“Oh please,.” Violet

Everyone stared, as if trying to find out if it was fake. Then, they relaxed.Noah pocketed his phone, with satisfaction. For a second, no one said anything. Then, Violet let out a soft laugh.“Wow, you've finally gotten it,” She feigned surprise, and her lips slightly curled into a fake smile. She tilted her head, eyes running over him slowly. “How many years later is that?”A few people chuckled.“Don't get me wrong,” she added lightly. “It's nice, really. Everyone deserved a second chance.”NoH stared at her. No matter what he did, they would always think low of him and find flimsy reasons to back it up. He was not surprised. They had always been like that.“She's right,” Richarded added suddenly, supporting Violet. “Let's not act like this is some big moment,” he said, glancing around the room. “A certificate is the minimum requirement, not exactly an achievement.”A couple of heads nodded, agreeing with him.Violet smiled with victory. “Exactly! We all have one,” She gestured laz

“But we can settle this_” Tiffany started.“In Court,” Noah completed. “For intentional destruction of property of this value.”“It's fair,” the man added quickly. “Perhaps you have something of value too, aside from your BMW car because it's just going to handle the side mirror.”Tiffany thought for a moment, her heart beat accelerated. Then, she remembered something. “Rose’s necklace. It's a Graff Diamond necklace and is worth three million dollars. It can sort it and we will still have some change remaining.”Rose hesitated as if thinking about it but slowly shook her head. “Please, not the necklace,” She begged softly. The man moved closer nonetheless. “Can I see the serial number?”Rose paused. “Serial number?”“Don't tell me you don't know what that is.”Rose took the necklace off and did a quick check. There was no serial number anywhere. She looked up at the man again, as tears welled up in her eyes. The man shook his head in pity and slowly backed off. “Can't work, that's a f

Everyone stared, shocked.Rose lowered her bat, breathing hard. She smiled like she had done something enormous. Then, she turned to Tiffany. “Come, join me.”“Ma'am!” The guard froze. “You need to stop!”Ignoring the guard, Tiffany removed one of her stilettos and smashed the side mirror with its pointed side.“That is,” Rose started, turning towards Noah. “_what being stubborn is.”Tiffany laughed. “Relax, we will pay for it.”“Yeah,” Rose added. “Don't start crying now. How much could it possibly be?”Noah smiled softly. “Do you know the value of the car? Let alone the windshield you have broken?”“Of course,” Rose rolled her eyes. “Maybe at most $30,000,” she said with disdain. “Isn't it just Mercedes? It's something I can afford, so don't fret. I will pay for it,” she uttered, tossed the bat aside, and moved to grab her purse. She pulled out a card from inside it and stretched it out. “There's a sum of $30,000 in the card. Use it. At exactly 7 o'clock, his phone beeped. It was a broadcast message, reminding him that it was time for the reunion party.Noah remembered and, in fact, was driving towards the venue. After Harrison had left, Noah did a little research on Daemon. Daemon was ruthless and currently ranked in the top 5 among the businessmen in Orangeville. He had a lot of resources alright and he also had Leonardo backing him to do whatever he so wished.Online, Daemon had some disputes with some CEOs and they ended up being pushed down. Some left the city while some merely stayed as if they were never there. That was what power could do to someone. So, Daemon was like Leonardo but in a different state. If it wasn't for the Il fuoco establishment, which Jay almost pulled down as well, Leonardo would have been the one controlling the whole of Casington too. Also, according to the details that Harrison provided, Daemon was the same age as him. He was too young to control so many mafia lords, too young to b
