It was Monday morning, and Nolan got dressed for school. He was in his final year and had been looking forward to this session for one reason, it was supposed to be the year he married Savannah. But that dream is gone now.
Since it was the first day of classes, He knew most students wouldn’t bother showing up for lectures. So instead, he decided to visit his friends at the dormitory. He didn’t live in the dorm because It was too expensive. He barely managed to pay his school f*es, so he couldn’t afford the dormitory f*e either. That’s why he came from home every day, even though it was stressful. Sometimes, when it got too hard, he slept over in his friends’ room. As he stepped into the room, the room fell silent and his friends turned to stare at him. Nolan noticed the tension and raised a brow. “What’s going on?” he asked, walking in. “You guys were clearly talking before I came in. Don’t try to lie and say it’s nothing or a secret, because that’ll only make me more curious.” He sat on the edge of the bed, waiting. “We heard about…” Cole, the youngest of the group, started to say, but Gabriel, the oldest among them, quickly smacked the back of his head. “Ow! Why did you hit me?” Cole frowned, rubbing the spot. “You need to learn when to talk and when to shut up!” Gabriel snapped. “I tell you that all the time.” “What’s wrong with talking about it now when we are still going to bring it up anyway?” Cole muttered, still pouting. “Just shut up!” Gabriel snapped, hitting him again. Cole stood up, ready to fight back, but Nolan quickly held him back. “Hey, calm down,” Nolan said, placing a hand on his chest. “Do you really think you can fight with Gabriel? He’s the toughest one here, and you know that.” “That doesn’t mean I should just let him keep hitting me,” Cole grumbled. “He thinks he can bully me every time. One day, I’ll snap.” Gabriel rolled his eyes and folded his arms. “Anyway,” Nolan said, cutting through the tension. “What’s going on? What were you trying to say before Gabriel stopped you?” Gabriel shot Cole a warning glare, but Cole ignored him and looked at Nolan. “We heard you and Savannah broke up,” Cole said flatly. “The whole class is talking about it. We were actually talking about it too before you walked in. We were wondering what happened.” Nolan blinked, surprised. “Wait, what? How did you guys even find out? That happened just two days ago!” “So it’s true?” Gabriel’s eyes widened. “You didn’t even deny it! Wow, wow. What happened between you two?” Nolan rubbed the back of his neck, clearly bothered. “I don’t get it… How did the news spread so fast?” “I thought you didn’t want us talking to him about it,” Cole added, shooting Gabriel a glare. “Now look at you, asking all the questions. Hypocrite much?” Gabriel gave Cole a side-eye. “Just shut up, Cole.” Jett started talking about it,” Cole said, avoiding Nolan’s eyes. “He said he went out with Savannah to the club, and they had a good time. He also said something else, something I don’t want to believe…” “What did he say?” Nolan asked. “Tell me. I want to know.” Cole sighed. “He said… he slept with her. She stayed at his place that night, and he dropped her off the next morning.” Nolan’s heart sank. He had tried to stay calm, but hearing those words hurt. He remembered how Savannah had looked that morning, dressed in revealing clothes. Her mom had said she was going for a walk, but her clothes said otherwise. Nolan hadn’t questioned it at the time because he was focused on trying to get Savannah not to break up with him but now it made sense. “Nolan?” Gabriel called, snapping him out of his thoughts. “Are you okay? I’ve been talking to you, but you didn’t say anything.” Nolan blinked, then forced a smile. “Yeah, I’m fine. I’m okay.” But he wasn’t. He was struggling to believe what Cole had said. “You don’t need to worry about it,” Cole said quickly. “If it’s true, then she showed you who she really is. Be glad you found out now, before the wedding. She’s not worth your time. I’m sorry this happened to you.” “Thanks, Cole,” Nolan said, letting out a deep breath. “You’re right. I shouldn’t be upset about someone who doesn’t care about me. Savannah isn’t worth it. She’s not worth my time.I deserve someone better. If she wants to be with someone else, that’s on her. It’s her loss.” Cole and Gabriel exchanged surprised looks. This wasn’t the Nolan they knew. He had always been so in love with Savannah. Now, he was speaking like he was done with her. They were both worried and surprised with his act. They had always seen him as the hopeless romantic, someone who believed in love no matter the cost. But now, he seemed almost indifferent to the situation, like he had already moved on. It was strange to see him already detached. Gabriel quickly cleared his throat. “There are a lot of better girls out there, Nolan. I know so many who are way better than Savannah. I can introduce you to one whenever you’re ready.” “Enough about all that,” Cole said, trying to change the subject. “Let’s go eat, I’m starving. Aren’t you guys hungry?” “I am,” Nolan said. “I didn’t eat before I left home, so yes, let’s get something to eat. The bill’s on me. You can eat as much as you want, Gabriel. You’re the food lover among us.” Nolan laughed. Cole and Gabriel stopped what they were doing and stared at Nolan. Did he really just say he’d pay for their food? That had never happened before. Nolan had never bought food outside. Even when they did go out, either Cole or Gabriel paid for it because Nolan couldn’t afford it. “What changed?” they thought, confused.

He looked like he was about to fight with him..“Who do you think you are?” Gabriel said in a loud voice. “Is it me you’re talking to like that? Are you okay in tne head…”Before Gabriel could say more or do anything, a voice from behind stopped him.“Are my eyes messing with me or isn’t that Gabriel?” the voice said in a playful tone. “Are you really about to fight a worker in a car shop?”The voice was laughing, and it made everyone stop what they were doing and they all turned to look at who was speaking. It was Damien. Damien was Jett’s best friend and he was standing at the entrance of the car shop, smiling and right behind him was Jett, standing with his usual proud face and wearing clothes that looked very expensive.Damien was actually richer than Jett. “Who were you talking to just now?” Cole asked the moment Nolan ended the phone call and walked back to where they were standing.Nolan rolled his eyes. Cole was always asking questions about everything he did. He always wanted to know who Nolan was talking to, where he was going, what he was thinking. It was almost like Cole had made it his full-time job to poke into every single thing.“That was from work,” Nolan said quickly, not wanting to say too much. He just wanted to move on before Cole asked more questions.“Let’s go inside to check the cars already,” Gabriel said as he wiped sweat off his forehead. “You’ve made us stand out here under the sun for too long. I’m tired already.”They all walked into the showroom together. As soon as Nolan stepped inside, he stopped and looked around. His eyes went wide in surprise. There were so many cars inside. New cars, fairly used cars, and even some old models. All of them looked neat and shiny like they had just been polished. The white f

“I think my budget should be about five thousand to six thousand dollars,” Nolan said slowly as he looked around the car shop. “I’m not sure if it’s too much or if it’s just enough… but let’s work with that range for now.”The words had barely left his mouth when Cole’s eyes widened in complete shock.“Six… SIX THOUSAND DOLLARS?!” Cole shouted, almost jumping. “Nolan! Are you serious right now?”He grabbed Nolan by his shoulders and shook him a little, as if trying to wake him up from a dream.“Did you really just say six thousand dollars?” Cole repeated, louder this time.Fiona and Gabriel who were walking around the car shop quickly turned around to look at them. They had heard Cole’s loud voice and wanted to know what was going on.“Yes, six thousand dollars,” Nolan repeated, now feeling a little nervous because everyone in the shop was now staring at him.“Six thousand?” Cole said again, his voice still loud. “As in, one, two, three, four, five… SIX?!”He covered his mouth with h

“How about you take this taxi with Fiona?” Nolan said as he stepped away from the car door and looked at Cole.Cole’s eyes lit up and he didn’t hesitate to move forward. He wanted to be the one to sit down with Fiona initially. “Really?” he asked, already moving closer to the car. “Okay! No problem!” He was so happy that he didn’t even wait for Nolan to say anything else. He just went in and sat beside Fiona, grinning from ear to ear but Fiona didn’t smile. In fact, she was very angry and if a glare could kill someone, Nolan would have been dead. Her face changed so suddenly because this wasn't what she wanted. She didn’t want to sit beside Cole and she didn’t come all the way just to sit in a taxi with Cole or just to be with Cole. Her plan was to be alone with Nolan and she wanted to sit close to him, talk to him, maybe even flirt a little, just like last time butnow, Cole had ruined everything. She was so mad and she didn’t want to be in the car with Cole at all. Chapter 85
Nolan started thinking about Fiona again and he remembered the last time he spoke to her, and how it didn’t end well. She had said some things that really annoyed him and she had acted in a way that made him sure she wasn’t someone he wanted to be close to. In fact, after that last encounter, he had promised himself that he wouldn’t even speak to her again but now, she was coming with them to check out his car.He didn’t even want to see her face again, but Cole had already told her to come along. It was too late now to stop her because Cole had already made the plans without asking anyone else.Nolan sighed and looked around. He spotted Gabriel packing his books as he was getting ready to leave the classroom too and he quickly walked up to him.“I was waiting for you to say something about Fiona coming with us,” Nolan said, walking beside him.Gabriel scoffed and rolled his eyes. “What’s the point?” he asked, clearly annoyed. “Cole doesn’t listen and no matter how many times we
Chapter 84
Nolan thought Cole was going to ask him some questions. He expected him to say something like, “How did you get money to buy a car?” or “Where did the money come from?” He thought Cole would be curious about how he suddenly had enough money to think of buying a car but Cole didn’t ask any of that.He was just too happy and too excited and he didn’t even stop to think about anything. He didn’t ask where the money came from and it was as if he was the one buying the car, not Nolan. Nolan was still waiting for the questions but he didn’t ask them. Instead, Cole went to Gabriel and started telling him all the types of cars Nolan could buy. “It must be big and sleek,” Cole said, raising his hands to show the size. “It must be finer than Jett’s car, and it must make noise when it moves. You know all those sounds those sports cars make? Something like that."Gabriel shook his head and said, “No, you’re wrong. What matters the most in a car is how it performs and instead of how fine it l
