It was Monday morning, and Nolan got dressed for school. He was in his final year and had been looking forward to this session for one reason, it was supposed to be the year he married Savannah. But that dream is gone now.

Since it was the first day of classes, He knew most students wouldn’t bother showing up for lectures. So instead, he decided to visit his friends at the dormitory.

He didn’t live in the dorm because It was too expensive. He barely managed to pay his school f*es, so he couldn’t afford the dormitory f*e either. That’s why he came from home every day, even though it was stressful. Sometimes, when it got too hard, he slept over in his friends’ room.

As he stepped into the room, the room fell silent and his friends turned to stare at him.

Nolan noticed the tension and raised a brow. “What’s going on?” he asked, walking in. “You guys were clearly talking before I came in. Don’t try to lie and say it’s nothing or a secret, because that’ll only make me more curious.”

He sat on the edge of the bed, waiting.

“We heard about…” Cole, the youngest of the group, started to say, but Gabriel, the oldest among them, quickly smacked the back of his head.

“Ow! Why did you hit me?” Cole frowned, rubbing the spot.

“You need to learn when to talk and when to shut up!” Gabriel snapped. “I tell you that all the time.”

“What’s wrong with talking about it now when we are still going to bring it up anyway?” Cole muttered, still pouting.

“Just shut up!” Gabriel snapped, hitting him again.

Cole stood up, ready to fight back, but Nolan quickly held him back.

“Hey, calm down,” Nolan said, placing a hand on his chest. “Do you really think you can fight with Gabriel? He’s the toughest one here, and you know that.”

“That doesn’t mean I should just let him keep hitting me,” Cole grumbled. “He thinks he can bully me every time. One day, I’ll snap.”

Gabriel rolled his eyes and folded his arms.

“Anyway,” Nolan said, cutting through the tension. “What’s going on? What were you trying to say before Gabriel stopped you?”

Gabriel shot Cole a warning glare, but Cole ignored him and looked at Nolan.

“We heard you and Savannah broke up,” Cole said flatly. “The whole class is talking about it. We were actually talking about it too before you walked in. We were wondering what happened.”

Nolan blinked, surprised. “Wait, what? How did you guys even find out? That happened just two days ago!”

“So it’s true?” Gabriel’s eyes widened. “You didn’t even deny it! Wow, wow. What happened between you two?”

Nolan rubbed the back of his neck, clearly bothered. “I don’t get it… How did the news spread so fast?”

“I thought you didn’t want us talking to him about it,” Cole added, shooting Gabriel a glare. “Now look at you, asking all the questions. Hypocrite much?”

Gabriel gave Cole a side-eye. “Just shut up, Cole.”

Jett started talking about it,” Cole said, avoiding Nolan’s eyes. “He said he went out with Savannah to the club, and they had a good time. He also said something else, something I don’t want to believe…”

“What did he say?” Nolan asked. “Tell me. I want to know.”

Cole sighed. “He said… he slept with her. She stayed at his place that night, and he dropped her off the next morning.”

Nolan’s heart sank. He had tried to stay calm, but hearing those words hurt. He remembered how Savannah had looked that morning, dressed in revealing clothes. Her mom had said she was going for a walk, but her clothes said otherwise. Nolan hadn’t questioned it at the time because he was focused on trying to get Savannah not to break up with him but now it made sense.

“Nolan?” Gabriel called, snapping him out of his thoughts. “Are you okay? I’ve been talking to you, but you didn’t say anything.”

Nolan blinked, then forced a smile. “Yeah, I’m fine. I’m okay.”

But he wasn’t. He was struggling to believe what Cole had said.

“You don’t need to worry about it,” Cole said quickly. “If it’s true, then she showed you who she really is. Be glad you found out now, before the wedding. She’s not worth your time. I’m sorry this happened to you.”

“Thanks, Cole,” Nolan said, letting out a deep breath. “You’re right. I shouldn’t be upset about someone who doesn’t care about me. Savannah isn’t worth it. She’s not worth my time.I deserve someone better. If she wants to be with someone else, that’s on her. It’s her loss.”

Cole and Gabriel exchanged surprised looks.

This wasn’t the Nolan they knew. He had always been so in love with Savannah. Now, he was speaking like he was done with her. They were both worried and surprised with his act. They had always seen him as the hopeless romantic, someone who believed in love no matter the cost. But now, he seemed almost indifferent to the situation, like he had already moved on. It was strange to see him already detached.

Gabriel quickly cleared his throat. “There are a lot of better girls out there, Nolan. I know so many who are way better than Savannah. I can introduce you to one whenever you’re ready.”

“Enough about all that,” Cole said, trying to change the subject. “Let’s go eat, I’m starving. Aren’t you guys hungry?”

“I am,” Nolan said. “I didn’t eat before I left home, so yes, let’s get something to eat. The bill’s on me. You can eat as much as you want, Gabriel. You’re the food lover among us.” Nolan laughed.

Cole and Gabriel stopped what they were doing and stared at Nolan. Did he really just say he’d pay for their food? That had never happened before.

Nolan had never bought food outside. Even when they did go out, either Cole or Gabriel paid for it because Nolan couldn’t afford it.

“What changed?” they thought, confused.

If Jett really wanted to prove himself, he would have to pay for everyone here and that was the only way to keep up the act. Still, he didn’t want to show that he was panicking. So he straightened his shoulders and put on a smile again.“Alright,” he said quickly, pulling his arm from Savannah’s grip. “You guys wait here. I’ll go talk to the butler and sort everything out.”He turned around and started walking slowly toward the reservation desk, each step heavier than the last. His hands were in his pockets, his fingers nervously tapping his phone. He was already thinking of ways to talk himself out of this without looking like a coward.Behind him, the girls watched with big smiles on their faces, proud of him like he was some kind of king.Jett walked up to the butler with slow steps, trying not to look nervous. His heart was beating fast, and he quickly looked back over his shoulder to check if Savannah or any of the others were following him. Luckily, they were all still standing

A man dressed in a neat black butler uniform stepped out from a hallway. He had white gloves on and a small notebook in his hand. With a polite smile, he walked toward the group and gave a small bow before speaking.“Good afternoon, everyone,” he said with a warm, professional tone. “Are you here for the grand opening event of the hotel, or are you just here to dine at the restaurant?”The group all turned to him. Jett stepped forward confidently and gave the man a quick look from head to toe, like he was sizing him up.“Just talk to me,” Jett said, waving a hand as if he didn’t want the man to look at the others. “I’m the one in charge here. What exactly is happening today?”The butler gave a polite nod. “Of course, sir,” he replied, keeping his voice calm and respectful. “Today is the official launch of the hotel and as part of the celebration, we also have our restaurant open for special guests.”He flipped open his small notebook and checked something quickly before looking up aga

“Excuse me, what’s your business here?” The bouncer asked firmly.Sonya blinked like she hadn’t heard him right. “What did you just say?”The bouncer stood straight and repeated himself. “What’s your business here? This entrance is for guests only.”Sonya’s face turned red. “Do you know who I am?” she snapped, planting her hand on her hip. “My uncle works here, and he’s not just anybody! If he hears that you stopped me, you’re going to lose your job today, you fat, bald idiot!”Sariah nodded quickly, backing her up. “Yeah, you clearly don’t know who you’re talking to.”But the bouncer didn’t move. He didn’t even pay attention to what she was saying. He kept his hand up and didn’t let them pass.Jett, Savannah, and Dora stopped behind the twins, looking confused. Sonya had promised that getting in would be easy since her uncle worked at the hotel, and now they were being blocked.Sonya’s mouth tightened, and she pulled out her phone angrily. “Ugh! “Where exactly are you even going that you’re calling it a place where I can’t be on the same level as you or that I wouldn’t be able to afford to go?” Nolan asked, folding his arms tightly. His voice was still calm, but his eyes showed that he was burning with anger inside. Normally, he would’ve walked away. Normally, he would’ve just let it slide but today was different.Jett moved closer to Nolan, standing right in front of him like he was trying to make him feel small. He folded his arms, raised his chin, and looked at Nolan like he was nothing.“This isn’t just some regular hotel, alright?” Jett said slowly, like Nolan was too dumb to understand. “This is a five-star place. A real luxury hotel. People who stay there have money, real money. People who wear designer clothes every day, not just on special occasions.”Nolan didn’t back down or step back. He stood his ground and kept his arms crossed, his jaw clenched tight. But inside, he was trying to hold himself back from hitting

“So… you all expect me to cry over a woman?” Nolan asked, raising a brow. “Is that what this is about? That I’m supposed to be sad and broken just because Savannah isn’t mine anymore?”He shook his head and let out a small laugh even though deep down, he was pained and still sad. “That doesn’t even make sense,” he said. “Do you know how many women I could have right now if I wanted to? I’m not heartbroken. Trust me. I just don’t chase people who don’t want me.” For a second, there was silence. Then Dora stepped forward with a scowl on her face.“You’re such a scum, Nolan,” she snapped, arms folded tightly across her chest. “How could you say that? It hasn’t even been two days since you and Savannah broke up! And now you’re talking about having women around you like she’s just some random person?”Nolan didn’t say anything, but Gabriel, who was standing beside him, let out a loud scoff.“Oh please,” Gabriel said, clearly annoyed. “Are you kidding me right now? Can’t you see that Sava

Nolan stepped out of the store first, his hands in his pockets, happy with how everything played out. Gabriel followed right behind him. “That,” Gabriel said, clapping Nolan on the back with a grin, “was legendary. I mean, wow. I didn’t expect you to do that. You really had me thinking Fiona was going to walk out with that bag.”He shook his head, still impressed. “But seriously, where the hell did you get that kind of money from? What are you not telling us? I’m so confused and curious at the same time”Nolan chuckled under his breath, the corners of his lips twitching. “It’s a long story,” he said, glancing at him. “But don’t worry. I’ll tell you about it soon.”Gabriel opened his mouth to say more, but then, Cole walked out of the store with a heavy sigh. He ran his hand through his hair and shook his head, looking like he hadn’t recovered from what just happened.“I just hope Fiona doesn’t hold a grudge over all this,” He muttered quietly, avoiding Nolan’s eyes.Gabriel turned to
