"I don't know how to tell you this, but I've got to make it known to you anyway."

"What do you mean?" Doctor Hemmingway cast a curious glance at Styles who still had the files in his hands. They were in the army truck, driving back to Atticus' lab with the rest of the teens and some soldiers.

"I'm sorry...b-b-but, I have to withdraw from being your intern," Styles adjusted his glasses and quickly looked away from Doctor Hemmingway with his heart hammering down his chest. He hadn't recovered from what just happened in the abandoned corn farm.

"Why?" Doctor Hemmingway turned to face the boy who neared the car door, even more, avoiding the man's face.

"I'm sorry, but I just can't anymore." Styles blurted out, gulping unsteadily.

Doctor Hemmingway blew out a big puff of breath and then face-palmed. Styles was one of his best interns and he wanted to leave simply because of what happened.
