CHAPTER EIGHT

            When we got to the palace, Queen Elizabeth led Sarah and me to the king's private study. When we arrived at the door of the study, she knocked twice before we got permission to enter.

                The study was huge. It had shelves that were as high as fifteen feet, stacked with books of different colours. Some of the books were about magic, which is surprising because the king was a broadsword user.

            We saw the king sitting behind a desk filled with files and ledgers. Behind him were a blue lion shield and a great sword behind it. Sarah hurried to him and told him what happened at the awakening ceremony, while the queen sat on the couch at the centre of the room and made a cup of tea for herself

            I could see the surprise and astonishment from the king as he looked at me with a strange glint in his eyes.

            “Peter my boy, you sure a full of surprises, this old man knew you would be a knight but to imagine that you got magic too, your parents would be proud,” the king said as he patted my shoulders.

            “your majesty, you shouldn’t say that you are an old man, what would people say when they see the queen, are you calling her an old woman too,” I said to the king with a smile.

            I could feel the temperature in the room drop and I knew the queen understood what I meant, ‘good luck mark, you will need it, and gave the king the sympathetic look.

            “Dear, are you saying I am old,” the queen asked the king in a sweet voice but to him, It did not seem that melodious at all, because I could see him shivering.

            “My dear wife you know I don’t mean that, it’s the cheeky brat twisting my words,” he said trying to appease her.

            “Peter, do you want to test my sword skills, it will help you a lot,” he said and I knew that would be an ass whopping for me.

            “Oh great king, you know I just got my talents awoken, so I am no match for your amazing sword skills,” I said declining his tactfully and promising myself not to tease him again.

            “Alright, since the both of you have gotten your talent awakened, I have a gift for both of you,” he said as he placed two small white boxes in front of us and made a gesture for us to open them.

            We opened the boxes and saw red rings in them. I picked up the ring in my box and examined it. The artisanship was nice and I could see some magic runes on them.

            “These are storage rings that I have prepared for you”, “inside the rings are books on magic and mana control, with some magic equipment,” he said to us.

            I wore the ring on my right index finger, it fitted it well and I wondered what was inside the ring.

            “To access the storage ring you have to release a little bit of mana into it, since both of you just got your first circle I will teach you guys how to do it,” the queen said putting down her cup of tea.

            She directed Sarah and me on how to circulate our mana into the ring, it took me more time because it was my first time ever tapping into my mana core.

            When I accessed the storage ring, I could see different types of magic books from mana absorption to mana control and the equipment was all silver grades, which was fair enough because higher grades are harder to get.

            I took my mind out of the ring and looked at Sarah, she also was surprised by the number of things inside the ring.

            “Thank you, your majesties,” I said; as I bowed to the king and queen that were now sitting on the couch.

            “Go and rest up both of you, you will be called once lunch is ready,” the queen said to us with a smile.

            “Peter, I will talk to the director of the academy about your classes, since you will start the academy in two weeks, we need to set your class schedule,” the king said to me and I thanked him.

            Sarah dragged me out of the study. When I got to my room, I plop down on my bed thinking about what happened today and held the red dragon pill.

            “Dragon race,” I said remembering what they told me and closed my eyes to sleep.

            King Mark’s, P.O.V

            I watched both my daughter and Peter leave the study and rested my back on the couch with my wife.

            “Dear, I know you felt something from him when you touched him,” she said as she rested her head on my shoulders.

            “There is really nothing I can hide from you my dear wife,” I said as I hugged her closer.

            “Yes, I felt a great source of power inside that boy. His potential is limitless, to be able to awaken both knighthood and magic at the same time I really want to nurture him and see what he becomes in the future” I said and she replied with a nod.

            “He is a good kid and I know that he would be a great mage in the future”, “let’s wait and see what will happen”. She leaned into my chest and I stroked her back.

            “We need someone to protect our daughter from them when the time arrives. I hope he would stand by her at that time,” I said as I thought of the other kingdoms.

            “Take him to the vault next week, let him pick a weapon of choice, it will be of great help to him” my wife suggested after some time.

            “I agree with that, and seeing his style of swordsmanship, a great sword is not his type and I know the perfect sword for him.” “It all depends if he can control the sword,” I said as I agreed to her suggestion and the room turned peaceful and quiet.
