OUT OF PRISON, HIS REVENGE BEGINS

This was just another typical sunny day in Warlington. However, Nicholas's mood was not very sunny.

From a distance, these beautiful women looked like kind goddesses, each with their unique charm. However, not everything seen from afar would still look the same at a closer distance.

At his wife's command, Nicholas brought out three buckets of warm water and replaced their foot bath, choosing not to complain because he was only a live-in son-in-law.

He and Georgina had been married for three years, but their relationship was merely a facade. They hadn't even touched hands! Every night, Nicholas had to sleep on the floor because Georgina despised him from the bottom of her heart.

Every little thing he does would trigger scolding from his wife and mother-in-law. Nicholas would cook, clean the house, and do the laundry, but even with all that, his status was still worse than that of a dog in this house. Once while cooking, he accidentally dropped a plate and got rained on with insults from his wife. There was also another instance when he got up to go to the toilet at night, and somehow, he woke Georgina up, and she slapped him so hard out of the blue, then forced him to kneel all night as punishment.

That was the first time Nicholas had ever been physically abused. Even in his childhood, his parents had never laid a hand on him, but he couldn't bring himself to get angry and could only bow his head apologetically.

He had grown accustomed to this kind of life as time went by. The most painful part was that after spending three years together, he had undeniably fallen in love with Georgina even though she despised him and constantly belittled and called him a waste!

Who asked him to become a live-in son-in-law anyway?

Nicholas is the second son in the main line of the Godfrey family, known as the biggest family in San Francisco. Three years ago, he used eight million cash to purchase an eight percent share of a Southeast Oil Company called Pureflow.

At that time, many people within their family criticized Nicholas. Some thought he was crazy, while others believed he was careless and embezzling the family funds. The uproar his decision caused resulted in his, including his parents, expulsion from the family. They even got their names removed from the genealogy.

Over these three years, Nicholas experienced the complexity and reality of human emotions. His former friends and brothers distanced themselves from him. To survive, he had no choice but to become a son-in-law, and he buried this matter and never brought it up once. Even his wife, Georgina, was unaware of his past.

"Gina, you've really tamed your husband," one of her besties, Blaire Smith, commented.

Georgina coldly laughed, "Nicholas? Just looking at him disgusts me. While others marry into wealthy families, I ended up with this loser. Look at him. He's shabby like a beggar. You can tell he's from the countryside at first glance. My family's having our annual gathering tomorrow. Can you imagine how embarrassing bringing him along would be for me?"

Blaire glanced at Nicholas. He did look shabby and unkempt in the cheap clothes he was wearing. Blaire chuckled, "Let's not talk about him then and get down to business. I heard your company has been facing some problems recently?"

Georgina nodded after a long sigh. "Last month, our clothing business incurred a few million losses. Now the company is short of funds, and we urgently need five million. We have to find an investor within a week to support our company."

Blaire sighed, "But Gina, who would be willing to invest five million in such a short time?"

Georgina fell silent, then realized Nicholas was overhearing their conversation. She glared at him and yelled, "What are you dawdling about, Nicholas? Get lost and wash my clothes!"

"Oh, while you're at it, my jeans are in the suitcase. Wash them for me too," Blaire added with a demeaning smile.

Desensitized by all the abuse he had endured in the past, Nicholas didn't complain and quietly disappeared to the laundry room. He put their clothes in the washing machine while considering doing his laundry too. His high school batch was holding a reunion tomorrow, so he needed a neat shirt to wear, but he was in a bit of a pickle.

Georgina was right about his clothes looking worn out. With little to nothing in his bank account, he rarely shopped for new clothes, and if he did buy some, they would always look cheap in the eyes of the rich.

'A new shirt would be nice. What do I do?'

As he thought about it, his phone belled with a notification. He quit checking his shirt and took out his phone from his pocket. The screen lit up with a message banner from an unknown number ending with six and eight.

Nicholas' eyebrows instantly furrowed as he recognized it.

'Wasn't this the Godfrey family's phone number?'

Curious, Nicholas clicked the notification to check what it was about, but it had him frozen and even more perplexed.
