Chapter 1:Hal Rodgraim
The glowing eyes of the raging monster, the relentless attack of the Hunters, the fatal strike...
Thud. His body slammed hard against the ground. "No!" he heard a voice scream. It sounded so distant, he thought. Why? He was dying. Hal lay motionless, staring into blank space, lost in thought. So, this was how he would die—like a weak, miserable E-rank Hunter. Worst of all, he didn't even get the chance to exact his revenge on those damned monsters. As he lay there, feeling the life slip away from him, like sand in an hourglass, he began to close his eyes. Suddenly, a blue screen appeared in front of him, with words written in white. [Potential Host found] [Do you wish to accept?] [Yes] [No] What was this? he thought. Well, it didn’t matter now; he was dead anyway, so there was no use being careful in making a decision. He decided to just choose "Yes." With that, he selected the "Yes" option. The next words filled him with surprise. [Congratulations, Hal Rodgraim! You have been chosen by the Omnix System!] 'Omnix System? What was that?' he wondered. 'Wait, scratch that. How in the name of the blights does it know my name?' ***** Present day. On a brightly lit street, several people could be seen walking about all with a look of anticipation on their faces. The cause for all this was the presence of a C-rank gate spawning here. Of course, it wasn't that there hadn't been occurrences of gates showing up in this part of the United States; it was just that Kansas wasn't famed for its high level of gates, thus the commotion. A small group of squads had been deployed to deal with it and among them was the squad Hal Rodgraim belonged to. The squads had gone in a few hours ago to deal with the issue, and now everyone on the outside was anxiously awaiting their return. Reporters could be seen everywhere brandishing their cameras like that was their very tool to ward off the monsters. A few minutes later, Hunters could be seen exiting from the gate and the shutters of cameras could be heard going off as each reporter present tried to get the perfect picture that was going to make the front page the next day. Exiting from the gate was a Hunter being assisted to walk by another Hunter. It was Hal Rodgraim. Looking up at the sky, Hal let out a long sigh as he walked while holding his ribcage towards the medical bay that had quickly been set up at a corner of the street for some check-ups. He must have broken a few ribs he thought, entering the bay he greeted the nurse there, she was also a hunter but was a healer type, Hunter, she was someone he knew pretty well due to the fact that he visited the medical bay a lot after almost every raid he participated in and she just happened to be the healer assigned to the squad he belonged to. "You have to stop getting injured like this every time you participate in a raid." she scolded as she treated him. "Well, it isn't like I have much of a choice." He retorted. Letting out a grin, he said, "A guy's got to survive, right? Besides, duty called so...." "But still, you should try your best to avoid danger, or else there will only be as much help as we can give you," she said back. Hal wanted to reply but instead thought in his mind, " It's not like there is much I can do, considering the fact that I am a rank E hunter." Exiting the medical bay, he left the surroundings of where the gate had spawned and headed home. It was late already, his little sister probably would have been asleep by now. The raid took longer than expected. He had promised his younger sister an outing today, but unfortunately, he couldn't do that now. The gate had an unusually high number of monsters, ranging from the basic tier monsters to the mutant tier, and even had an extremely strong boss monster at the highest level of the advanced tier. There had been an abnormality in the actual strength of monsters in a dungeon, recently. It had been a tough fight between them and the monsters, fortunately, or unfortunately for him, he had managed to get out of it with just a few broken ribs, which were almost completely healed all thanks to the specially designed suits used by hunters but still he could only draw little of it's healing powers to heal him, that was why he still had to visit the medical bay after raids. It took him an hour before he got home; on getting home, he entered the elevator and waited for it to get to the level at which his apartment was located. They lived in a two-bedroom apartment, he and his sister. "Aah! How tired I am." Hal thought; entering the room, he found his little sister fast asleep and smiled; she was the only reason why he hadn't quit being a hunter long ago. Getting on top of his bed, which was a bunk he shared with his sister, his thoughts ran through all that happened today; today, like every other raid, he had been so close to death but, as usual, managed to escape its grips once again. "how long am I going to continue like this." he thought. No, he wasn't going to think like that. He was going to continue fighting against the monsters to continue getting the funds to take care of his little sister and to get his revenge on those damn monsters that took both his parents from him and his little sister. With that thought in mind, he closed his eyes and drifted off into a peaceful slumber, totally fagged out.Expand

Omnix: Celestial system Chapter 147: Chaos Basek
The rising of a calamity. That was what happened next.A suffocating weight slammed down on the battlefield without warning, crushing breath from lungs and freezing blood mid-flow. Hunters staggered as their Qi instinctively compressed, defensive fields activating on reflex alone. Then the street split, concrete tore apart as something clawed its way upward from beneath the ruined city of Olathe, dragging with it shattered asphalt, twisted rebar, and the broken remains of lesser ants crushed beneath its emergence. The Legendary-tier Ant stood, towering far above even the mutated Emperor-tiers, its body was a mass of deep obsidian chitin so black it devoured light. The surface wasn’t smooth, it was layered, ridged, armored for war. Massive mandibles unfolded slowly, each serrated edge thick enough to shear through reinforced bunkers. Its front limbs ended in hooked scythes that scraped against the ground with a sound like grinding steel. And its eyes, were empty. No rage.No madness

Omnix: Celestial system Chapter 146: A Legendary Tier Monster (3)
The dome over Olathe trembled as a high, glassy shriek hit it, and the glowing hexagonal plates flickered, fractured, and stitched themselves back together in frantic pulses of light. Hunters looked up, and many of them swore, but they all already knew. “Barrier integrity at sixty-three percent!” a trembling voice shouted over open comms. “It’s dropping fast!” Then the ground moved. Not an earthquake. A coordinated surge. The streets below buckled as asphalt split apart, and from the depths came the sound every veteran Hunter feared, chittering. Thousands of overlapping clicks. Rhythmic. Purposeful. The first ant burst from the ground like a living battering ram. It was the size of a minivan, obsidian carapace warped and veined with sickly crimson lines. Its mandibles snapped once, tearing a parked armored vehicle in half. “CONTACT FRONT!” someone screamed, and the city erupted with Qi cannons firing. Blades flashed, and explosions turned streets into firestorms. But the an

Omnix: Celestial system Chapter 145: Legendary Tier Monster (2)
No one spoke at first. The silence that followed the cut transmission wasn’t empty, it was crowded. Heavy with memories that had no right to still breathe after all these years. Phil Cobblestone was the first to break it, not with words, but with a slow exhale. His eyes weren’t on the shattered chamber or the flickering screens anymore. They were somewhere else. Somewhere far older. “…It was ten years ago,” he said quietly. Hal felt the shift immediately. The air changed, not with Qi, but with memory. “We didn’t call them Legendary back then,” Cobblestone continued. “We didn’t even believe such a rank could exist. Emperor-tier was the ceiling. That was what all our models said.” Alexander Dragunov let out a low, humorless chuckle. “Models,” he muttered. “We lost three cities before we realized models don’t mean shit when the world decides to break its own rules.” The memory unfolded, not as a projection, but as a shared scar. A dragon. Not a wyvern. Not a scaled beast pre

CRACK! FWOOSH! Hal blocked. Redirected. Slid. His coat shredded under sheer force, skin burning as impact after impact landed. Strong, Hal admitted, teeth gritting. Stronger than I expected. Then he stepped in. He caught Dragunov’s wrist mid-swing and drove his knee upward— THUD!! The impact echoed like a cannon firing. Dragunov’s eyes widened as he was launched backward, smashing through two suppression pylons before skidding across the floor in a cloud of debris. The shadow-beast dissipated violently. For a heartbeat— Silence. Then Dragunov laughed hoarsely as he pushed himself up, blood trickling from the corner of his mouth. “Good,” he snarled. “Now it makes sense.” Cobblestone moved. Invisible vectors clamped down on Hal from every direction as Cobblestone activated full authority control. Gravity spiked. Space folded. Movement itself rebelled against Hal’s intent. Hal felt it immediately. He’s not attacking me, Hal realized. He’s commanding the battlefield. C

Omnix: Celestial system Chapter 143: The Generals (3)
The decision was made without ceremony. There were no raised voices, no dramatic declarations. Just a quiet shift in the room, subtle but unmistakable, like a current changing direction beneath still water.Phil Cobblestone was the one who spoke.“Numbers tell us what you are,” he said calmly. “But not how you move.”Hal understood immediately. He inclined his head once. “You want to see it for yourselves.”“Yes,” Liu Chen replied. “Under controlled conditions.”Hal didn’t hesitate. “Fine.”There was no bravado in his tone. No challenge. Just acceptance.Because if the world only had a year left, then wasting time pretending was pointless. The MHO training facility lay far beneath the headquarters, sealed behind layers of clearance and spatial reinforcement. It wasn’t advertised. It wasn’t listed on any public schematic. This was a place designed not for Hunters—but for failures that could not be allowed. The chamber they entered was vast, circular, its walls formed from overlapping a

Omnix: Celestial system Chapter 142: The Generals (2)
The door closed behind Hal with a muted thud. The room beyond it was wide and dimly lit, designed less like a conference hall and more like a chamber meant to endure the test of time. Dark panels lined the walls, etched with faint geometric patterns that pulsed softly with restrained energy. A long table stretched across the center, its surface matte and unmarred, as if no one dared leave a mark upon it. Five figures sat on the far side. Hal stopped a few steps in. No tension crawled up his spine. No instinct screamed danger. He simply… looked. Five generals. Each representing a country. Five pillars upon which the modern Hunter world rested. He had seen their faces before, on broadcasts, in historical footage, in reports dissected endlessly on HunterNet. But seeing them like this, gathered in one place, all eyes turned toward him, was something else entirely. Phil Cobblestone sat in the center. He represented the United States. Broad-shouldered even in his later years,

Loving the book. Although the first two chapters feel slightly without actions, the tension gradually rises with each subsequent chapter. I trust that author Nim can do even better. Overall, it's a great book.
