Chapter 1:Hal Rodgraim
The glowing eyes of the raging monster, the relentless attack of the Hunters, the fatal strike...
Thud. His body slammed hard against the ground. "No!" he heard a voice scream. It sounded so distant, he thought. Why? He was dying. Hal lay motionless, staring into blank space, lost in thought. So, this was how he would die—like a weak, miserable E-rank Hunter. Worst of all, he didn't even get the chance to exact his revenge on those damned monsters. As he lay there, feeling the life slip away from him, like sand in an hourglass, he began to close his eyes. Suddenly, a blue screen appeared in front of him, with words written in white. [Potential Host found] [Do you wish to accept?] [Yes] [No] What was this? he thought. Well, it didn’t matter now; he was dead anyway, so there was no use being careful in making a decision. He decided to just choose "Yes." With that, he selected the "Yes" option. The next words filled him with surprise. [Congratulations, Hal Rodgraim! You have been chosen by the Omnix System!] 'Omnix System? What was that?' he wondered. 'Wait, scratch that. How in the name of the blights does it know my name?' ***** Present day. On a brightly lit street, several people could be seen walking about all with a look of anticipation on their faces. The cause for all this was the presence of a C-rank gate spawning here. Of course, it wasn't that there hadn't been occurrences of gates showing up in this part of the United States; it was just that Kansas wasn't famed for its high level of gates, thus the commotion. A small group of squads had been deployed to deal with it and among them was the squad Hal Rodgraim belonged to. The squads had gone in a few hours ago to deal with the issue, and now everyone on the outside was anxiously awaiting their return. Reporters could be seen everywhere brandishing their cameras like that was their very tool to ward off the monsters. A few minutes later, Hunters could be seen exiting from the gate and the shutters of cameras could be heard going off as each reporter present tried to get the perfect picture that was going to make the front page the next day. Exiting from the gate was a Hunter being assisted to walk by another Hunter. It was Hal Rodgraim. Looking up at the sky, Hal let out a long sigh as he walked while holding his ribcage towards the medical bay that had quickly been set up at a corner of the street for some check-ups. He must have broken a few ribs he thought, entering the bay he greeted the nurse there, she was also a hunter but was a healer type, Hunter, she was someone he knew pretty well due to the fact that he visited the medical bay a lot after almost every raid he participated in and she just happened to be the healer assigned to the squad he belonged to. "You have to stop getting injured like this every time you participate in a raid." she scolded as she treated him. "Well, it isn't like I have much of a choice." He retorted. Letting out a grin, he said, "A guy's got to survive, right? Besides, duty called so...." "But still, you should try your best to avoid danger, or else there will only be as much help as we can give you," she said back. Hal wanted to reply but instead thought in his mind, " It's not like there is much I can do, considering the fact that I am a rank E hunter." Exiting the medical bay, he left the surroundings of where the gate had spawned and headed home. It was late already, his little sister probably would have been asleep by now. The raid took longer than expected. He had promised his younger sister an outing today, but unfortunately, he couldn't do that now. The gate had an unusually high number of monsters, ranging from the basic tier monsters to the mutant tier, and even had an extremely strong boss monster at the highest level of the advanced tier. There had been an abnormality in the actual strength of monsters in a dungeon, recently. It had been a tough fight between them and the monsters, fortunately, or unfortunately for him, he had managed to get out of it with just a few broken ribs, which were almost completely healed all thanks to the specially designed suits used by hunters but still he could only draw little of it's healing powers to heal him, that was why he still had to visit the medical bay after raids. It took him an hour before he got home; on getting home, he entered the elevator and waited for it to get to the level at which his apartment was located. They lived in a two-bedroom apartment, he and his sister. "Aah! How tired I am." Hal thought; entering the room, he found his little sister fast asleep and smiled; she was the only reason why he hadn't quit being a hunter long ago. Getting on top of his bed, which was a bunk he shared with his sister, his thoughts ran through all that happened today; today, like every other raid, he had been so close to death but, as usual, managed to escape its grips once again. "how long am I going to continue like this." he thought. No, he wasn't going to think like that. He was going to continue fighting against the monsters to continue getting the funds to take care of his little sister and to get his revenge on those damn monsters that took both his parents from him and his little sister. With that thought in mind, he closed his eyes and drifted off into a peaceful slumber, totally fagged out.Expand

Omnix: Celestial system Chapter 79: Eventful Break
“CI?… Personification of the Celestial System?” The words tumbled across Hal’s mind like a stone skipping water, leaving ripples of disbelief. His chest tightened. His eyes darted across the dim pod chamber, searching for the owner of the voice that had echoed inside his head. But then, he didn’t need to look far. A meter in front of him, the air began to warp. It was like light itself was bending, folding into pixelated fragments that hummed and shimmered. The warped light trickled downward, condensing into the faint outline of feet. Slowly, like a sculptor chiseling marble, the rest of a form assembled: legs, a waist, arms unfurling like streams of light, and finally…. A head. A face. Hal’s breath caught. Standing before him was not flesh and blood, but a being woven of holographic threads, a mosaic of pixel-light constantly shifting between transparency and form. She was slim and graceful, with contours that carried a faint glow. Her eyes, however, were the most striking,

Omnix: Celestial system Chapter 78: Simulation Lord!
Slice! Roar! The headless bodies of monsters kept falling aside as the dagger-wielding Hal cleaved his way through the sea of monsters. He had challenged five hundred monsters at the beginning, and now he had successfully halved their number, tearing them apart through sheer will and unbridled skill. Tti-ring! [+10 Kill Points] Tti-ring! [+10 Kill Points] His dagger made a ripping sound as it coiled around the arm of an orc before ripping it off. Hal swung the severed arm and used it to clear a set of incoming Orcs before turning back to the orc the arm originally belonged to and, with great proficiency, drew lines across the monster's body, causing it to drop in little chunks of skin and fat. Tti-ring! [+10 Kill Points] Although this was a simulation, Hal still felt every moment of the battle. He was fully focused and deeply immersed in the fight; it was like he had found serenity in the chaos. Everything seemed to move slowly, with Hal at the center orchestrati

Omnix: Celestial system Chapter 77: The Netherealms Dungeons
The black door slid shut behind Hal with a low hiss, sealing him away from the lobby’s red carpet and polished bronze. A rush of chilled air swept over him, and as his eyes adjusted, the inside of the gaming hall opened before him. The place was enormous, more like a futuristic arena than an arcade. The lights were dim, tinted blue, and the air carried the faint hum of machinery. Pod chambers lined the walls in neat rows—sleek, egg-shaped capsules glowing faintly with veins of neon light. Hunters milled about the space, some waiting their turn, others laughing and chatting like gamblers at a race track. The room pulsed with quiet energy, the atmosphere tense but playful, competitive yet relaxed. Clusters of people stood before the giant leaderboard display at the center of the hall. The holographic board hovered in mid-air, its translucent surface divided into sections by rank: E, D, C, B, A, and S. Each list displayed the top ten names, their scores, clear times, and a glowing

Omnix: Celestial system Chapter 76: Welcome to the Netherealms.
Fifteen minutes later, after Hal had eaten his meal and cursed off his bad luck, he went to his room and lay idly on the bed. “Uh!” Hal grunted as he sat up. He couldn’t just sit around all day, doing nothing. The time was barely past ten in the morning, what was he supposed to do with the rest of his day?_Pfft, and there are no dungeons to be cleared now…_Hal wouldn’t have minded having another go at some monsters, despite having cleared a dungeon earlier that morning. Now that he had the system, raiding dungeons had become one of his hobbies. It meant more strength, more progression. But wouldn’t living a life that only revolved around leveling up be a boring one? Sure, the power was worth it… But power corrupted. He felt that while he was giving his all to accumulate it, he shouldn’t lose himself to it. The power should be his to control, not the other way around. “Ah, I guess what I’m just trying to say is, a little bit of fun wouldn’t do any harm, right?” Hal said aloud, spe

Omnix: Celestial system Chapter 75: Rifted out of luck
Wisp! A cloud of black smoke swirled in the air, two huge black dogs with thin eyes stretched backwards, and a tail like that of a devil appeared around Hal, a black wisp of smoke arising from their body. These were the Devil dogs; they were at the King-tier, and Hal could summon two of them for now. "Two, hmm, that's quite expected, besides once my rank levels up, I'll be able to summon more of them...." Hal crossed his hand, as he looked at the Devil dog's standing right there in his living room, a sight that was only supposed to be seen in a dungeon, and if ever seen outside one, would be as a result of a successful dungeon break, which was an extremely rare occurrence. It would attract a lot of attention if people found out he could summon monsters only found in dungeons. Worse, people could start getting ideas, and might mistake him for a human-type monster. _Hehe, at this rate I could be called a necromancer, since I can now raise dead monsters, and get them to do my bid

His strength stat had already hit a hundred, and the rest weren't far off, only intelligence and stamina lagging behind; still, he counted this as a milestone. All the days of grinding and tireless hunting hadn't been in vain; this was the result staring right at him. And he could feel the actual weight of those numbers in his very muscles. He could still remember those days when every raid was a struggle against life and death, but here h

Loving the book. Although the first two chapters feel slightly without actions, the tension gradually rises with each subsequent chapter. I trust that author Nim can do even better. Overall, it's a great book.
