Bursting forward at a supersonic speed, Hal created sound waves that spread around him in every direction.

Hal’s burst of speed had turned the narrow corridor into a wind tunnel, blasting debris and dust outward like a miniature shockwave.

The Devil Dogs caught mid-charge, were hurled backward, their grotesque black bodies slamming against the walls with loud thuds.

For a moment, silence filled the dungeon, save for the soft crackle of flickering red torches lining the stone walls.

But the silence didn't last.

The creatures sprang back to their feet with unnatural swiftness, their spindly limbs bending and snapping as if their bones were rubber.

Their thin black eyes blinked once, twice then all seven of them let out simultaneous roars, their mouths stretching open to unnatural widths. Jagged, needle-like teeth gleamed under the red haze, and those long, red tongues whipped out like spears, slapping the air and walls with vicious force.

Fish!

A tongue lashed toward H

His strength stat had already hit a hundred, and the rest weren't far off, only intelligence and stamina lagging behind; still, he counted this as a milestone. All the days of grinding and tireless hunting hadn't been in vain; this was the result staring right at him. And he could feel the actual weight of those numbers in his very muscles. He could still remember those days when every raid was a struggle against life and death, but here h

  • Chapter 73: A good day.

With a complicated look, Tom kept staring at Hal, still finding it hard to believe the kid had turned him down without batting an eyelid. As it stood, Hal seemed more interested in the loot from the hunt than a contract with the top guild in Kansas. I mean, who the hell does that? “Sir, perhaps we should wait until we get outside,” Matthew said as he walked toward his boss. “Maybe then, he will listen to what you have to say.” “But...” Tom was about to vent his frustration when the Hunters who had initially been sent to clear this dungeon finally arrived, the B-rank Hunter leading the group. “I’ll take it you guys are done over here,” the leader stated. “There! That’s him!” the D-rank Hunter blurted at the same time. “…” The leader threw an annoyed look at his subordinate before walking toward Hal, who had just risen from his position in front of the monster, the loot in hand. “Are you the Hunter who separated from the team?” he asked in a gruff voice. “That’s right,” Hal rep

"Hey kiddo, that was one hell of a fight back there," Tom said, walking towards Hal, with a smile tugging at his lips. "Indeed, it was," Hal replied quite stiffly, as he was wary of the man, who, despite having helped him win a battle that would have been otherwise impossible to win, remained a stranger to him. Only the other guy, his partner, was quite familiar to Hal, and even him, Hal had only come across once, and wasn't expecting to meet him again. Not to mention that, the terms they met were very suspicious, which made Hal even more wary of both guys. "Oh, how you fight is also quite unexpected for an E-rank Hunter, you know?" Tom chuckled, revealing a hint of his knowledge regarding Hal's situation. "And what makes you think I'm an E-rank?" Hal replied, voice steady, neither affirming nor denying the statement. This was also one of the reasons he was wary of these guys. If they found out he was supposed to be an E-rank Hunter, they wouldn't believe it, due to the performa

Hal's brows knitted as he saw the system update. _Tch. I guess this system never changes. Now that my chances of survival have increased due to the presence of those guys, it actually made the quest harder, by requesting me to kill the very monster it had initially issued a Survival Quest for!_ _Ah, I guess it’s inevitable. At least the penalty has already changed, and the rewards are quite clear now. Besides, stealing a kill is a good skill of mine, hehe…_ [Skill: 'Dash' has been activated!] Hal summoned his daggers and joined the fray, going straight for the boss monster. Tap, tap, tap.He ran along the walls, kicked off, then spinning through the air, he passed right over the demon’s head and stabbed its neck with his Bone sword. Roar! The demon let out a scream as the blade lodged itself deep, drawing out lava-like blood that smelled of brimstone. “Woah, I knew my instincts never let me down!” Tom smirked. After seeing Hal’s little performance, Tom felt he had been right

  • Chapter 70: Fighting the Demon Duke (1)

[Skill: 'Dash' has been activated!] Hal attempted to escape the seal by using the skill Dash, which granted him more speed, but it seemed he had underestimated the strength of an Emperor-ranked monster. The extra speed helped his body move faster, but it had no effect on his thoughts, which were slowly freezing up, stopping him from coming up with a quick plan to counter the situation. "Think, think, think Hal!" He muttered to himself. Despite his reasoning slowly going numb, Hal used what little he had control of, to formulate a plan. If his skills only helped to increase his speed, then that meant he could still swing a sword, protecting himself from the monsters' attacks The only problem was that, the spell or whatever magic was working on him, overwhelmed his thoughts, hence making quick thinking réflexes a problem. Snarl! Snarl! The Devil dog's lunged again, their snout opened wide, with tiny ferocious teeth lining them, ready to tear him apart. A devil snapped

  • Chapter 69: Shepherd of Infernal Hounds

The atmosphere was getting more hazy now, and the temperature had risen to another level, but this wasn't enough to stop Hal's advancement. The dungeon was dark, hazy, and all, making visuals poor, but Hal applied his senses to maneuver the crooked paths of the dungeon. His pace quickened on, along the floors of the dungeon, as his perception told him he was closer now. _Hmm, I've never seen an Emperor-tier monster before, not to mention fighting one. This will be quite a tough one.._ Even though he was moving towards the dungeon quickly, seemingly unafraid, Hal was still cautious, as an Emperor-tier monster wasn't something to joke about. They were the 5th strongest class of monsters out there, so they weren't to be joked with. As Hal went deeper, the energy he had been tracing became clearer, and the sounds of hounds howling could be heard from a distance. He followed the pull deeper, weaving through jagged tunnels until the narrow walls opened into a vast chamber. W
