Chapter 9: Punishment

The setting sun had its dimmed rays shone on the horizons of Brion town, students were threading the path between the fields back to their parents’ home.

After experiencing, and escaping what could be their doom at Blood clot forest, most students were slightly mentally unstable since its their first hunting expedition, its normal for most of them to be scared out of their wits when fighting or attacked by a beast for the first time, but not when they are faced with a horde of beast which could easily trample a town down; they’re bound to experience psychological issues, except for a few among them, whose parents are either hunters, adventurers or are serving in the army.

A group of figures stood round a luminous circular diagram with different types of shapes drawn in it, the figures stood round the teleportation circle with a pale face as they tried their last attempt to activate the teleportation circle. They all clasp their hands together as the take in a deep breath, channeling the mana to the drawing which is on the ground before them, the drawing on the ground began to fluctuate as if it’s about to experience a power outage, suddenly, it glowed very brightly showing the beaming smile on the figures faces in the dark night.

“Yes we made it, now the kids would be teleported back.” their smile says it all.

Suddenly, their surroundings became pitch black instantly, “What!” they shouted inwardly as the teleportation circle dimmed and stopped, their mental fortitude almost shattered, now the students would surely die since they can’t keep the teleportation circle active in order to teleport them back to Brion town.

Drake, Harry and Iris sat behind an energy barrier shield as they watched the unfolding scene, they were afraid that the beast which was engaged with Han and his subordinates might change its trajectory and lunge at them at any time. This makes them set up a transparent barrier shield and watch the scene from behind it. Which makes it feels like a gladiator being watched by the audience in a coliseum as he fights against a wild beast.

“As expected of you, little tyrant and his subordinates.” Drake had a smirk on his face as he made a scornful remark while clapping.

“You actually killed such a savage beast.” Drake said as if he had expected such to happen.

It was a beast sharing the characteristics and similarities of a wolf, it stood in the middle of Han and his subordinates, its flesh scarred revealing the burns caused by fire magic, its body dripping blood onto the forest ground as multiple wind slash cut through its flesh, suddenly, it wobbled as it raises it paw, sending it towards the four of them. They duck out of its way without getting hit due to its slow sluggish movement.

“Wind strike: second form.” The two mages yelled as they joined their hands together, combing their mana as they unleashed an intermediate spell on the beast, while Han and the other guy pierce their sword through the beast abdomen.

“Thud.” The beast's legs wobbled as it fell on the ground, sword slashes and fire burns on its body, making it look like a dead beast whose body has been pecked by the wild birds.

“I never knew this beast would do such a good job avenging Harry on my behalf.” Drake said looking at Han and his subordinates whose bodies had been battered by bruises, he said as he stared at the four of them, the color on their faces going pale instantly.

Han gritted his teeth, clenching his hand tightly on his sword. He wished he could attack Drake right now, but he knew that both Drake and Harry are formidable opponents to him and his subordinates, now that they’re together.

“This is not Drake,” Han could only whisper, “why would he put the whole of Brion’s town's future in danger because of mere revenge.”

“Let’s get out of here.” Drake yelled at Harry and Iris as they all sprint towards the teleportation circle that’s lit up in the distance. Han and his subordinates had no choice but to chase after them if they really wanted to get back to Brion town and not rot here as corpse.

“If the alliance knows about this,” the teacher paused as he sniffed, “We would be done for.” He said as he stared at the teleportation circle.

“Let’s get going.” Mr Geo said as he stood up from the ground, while the others were still seated round the teleportation circle. “We can’t avert our fate since we failed to protect those damned fucking kids.” He yelled as other teachers also stood up to leave the place, suddenly a very bright light blinded their eyes for some moments as the teleportation circle activated itself, seven figures appeared on it as their gaze met with their teacher's own especially with that of Mr. Leo which speaks fury.

“Where have you been?” Mr. Leo roared, almost choking himself.

A gasp escaped the teachers’ mouth as it seems like a heavy weight has been lifted off their shoulders.

On a large open field filled with greenies to its edges, six figures were busy working as they cleared up the bushes, their clothes soaked in sweat, their palms swollen and sore due to how they continuously hold on tight to the machete in their hands.

From afar, a female figure approaches them with a wooden figure box on her back, grunting with each step she takes towards them, she drops the box on her back as she reaches their place, removing seven different plates from the box, she serves food from the box into the plates, she distributed the food among the six boys reserving one for herself; this has been the punishment they’ve been going through since the chaos they caused at Bloodclot forest when they went for their first hunting expedition, despite the pain they’re going through, Drake never felt remorseful, Harry has no expression either , Iris only revealed her tiredness. Han wished he could beat the trio up into a pulp, but his subordinates wished they had never followed him back then at blood clot forest. Blearing acres of land without magic is good punishment for them.
