To most, Trevor had only beaten Andrew physically. Unknown to them, he had also targeted the spine with a precise, concealed energy strike. It damages the spinal cord and surrounding meridians at a microscopic, internal level without breaking any bones or leaving external marks.

The damage is purely energy-based, so normal hospitals and scans would show nothing conclusive — maybe vague "nerve inflammation" at best.

This attack was brutal for a normal mortal. Sporadically, one would feel immense pain as if their flesh were being fried from the inside, which would also cause temporary paralysis.

This attack was truly brutal, but for someone as cruel as Andrew, it was perfect — a fitting way to make him live with regret for the rest of his days.

Meanwhile, inside the hotel, the wedding was reaching its critical point.

"Do you, Frederick, take Anne to be your lawfully wedded wife, to have and to hold, from this day forward, for better or for worse, for richer or for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish, till death do you part?"

"I do." They simultaneously replied with gentle smiles as they looked at each other.

"If anyone here knows of any lawful reason why this man and this woman should not be joined together in holy matrimony, let them speak now or forever hold their peace."

Hearing those words, Anne couldn't help but silently pray that none of Frederick's exes would show up or cause a scene. This was her only chance to marry into wealth — the dream life of almost every girl she knew.

Clap!

Clap!

Clap!

"Bravo. You both truly look cute together."

A piercing round of applause followed by those words cut right through the sound of the audience.

Simultaneously, everyone turned toward the source.

Standing at the entrance of the hotel hall in simple clothes was a man walking calmly toward them.

"Tre... Trevor?!"

Anne's pupils shrank to the size of needles.

How? When had he been released? Wasn't he supposed to still be in prison?

Meanwhile, Frederick saw him and couldn't help but laugh lightly. He walked over to Anne and stood deliberately by her side before saying, "Released or broke out? Either way it doesn't matter. Be a good boy and go back to your sister's place. Don't cause any trouble that will end you right back in there."

Saying so, his hand found its place resting on Anne's hip. She smiled without minding it and rested her head on his shoulder in a loving way.

Seeing their open display of affection, Trevor felt nothing but pain and anger as he looked at her.

"I have no issue with you leaving me. But why subject my sister to pain? Why lie to me that she never wanted to see me, when in truth you never told her what had happened to me, and even allowed your brother to worsen her condition?"

At that moment, the last shred of hope he had harbored — that Anne had only married Frederick to protect his sister somehow — was completely shattered.

Hearing his words, Anne snorted coldly. "You're asking me why? Frederick is the first son of the Dunn family and a future heir. He's loving and gets me everything I want. Do I need more reasons?"

"Stop being emotional. I'm sure if you had found a way into a better situation and it involved sacrificing our love to get there, you wouldn't hesitate either. We are all after our own betterment here."

Trevor looked at Anne with disbelief.

This was a completely different woman standing before him.

There was no way this was the same lady he had fallen in love with.

What had happened to all the promises they had made to each other?

At that moment, he truly understood what those so-called online alpha males always preached.

Love meant nothing without money and influence. And standing here, watching her, he knew it was true.

"Trevor, what are you doing here? Didn't my daughter tell you she was done with you back at the prison? Why are you still bothering her?" Anne's mother couldn't help but point a finger at him as she cursed out loud.

"Back when you were dating Anne, what did you ever buy for her? Nothing! Every single day you got her roadside snacks and daydreamed about how your lives would be once you were married. You were never the slightest bit ambitious! Is that the type of man a mother allows her daughter to marry?"

"As it stands now, you and my daughter are in completely different worlds. You have a reputation associated with beating and abusing women! My daughter is pure, innocent, and has a bright future ahead of her! So stop embarrassing yourself and leave immediately!"

Hearing the words from both Anne and her mother, Trevor felt his chest grow stuffy, as if filled with a foreign kind of pain he never wanted to experience again.

"Why did you treat Diana the way you did while I was in jail?" He suppressed everything rising in his chest and asked.

Hearing his words, Anne opened her mouth but nothing came out. What was she going to say?

Just then her gaze landed on her bloodied brother and she froze in shock.

"Andrew! What happened to you? Who did this?"

"Woo! Sister! It was Trevor! I stopped him at the door and gently asked for his invitation card, but without a single word he just started punching me!"

"Trevor!" Andrew's mother shrieked in a shrill voice like a feral cat.

"Trevor! You have gone too far! You dare touch my brother-in-law? And at my wedding of all places? Aren't you slapping my face by making it look like I can't handle you?!"

With those words, Frederick raised his hand with a smirk. "Guards! Get in here and take care of this prisoner. He seems to think this is a lawless prison. Remind him that this is a society governed by rules!"

Suddenly, more than a dozen bodyguards of the Dunn family stormed in, surrounding Trevor within seconds.

Seeing this, everyone in the room couldn't help but look at him with pity. They already knew exactly what was going to happen next.

How could he possibly bear it?Even the watching crowd couldn't help but shake their heads and murmur among themselves."Heh. A nobody dares to go toe to toe with Young Master Han over Veronica?""He must be tired of living, or the little power he picked up in prison has made him think he is stronger than everyone.""Truly as they say. A toad can only dream of eating a swan but can never actually do it."Meanwhile, Patriarch Patrick Dunn felt his eyes light up watching the scene unfold. Since Young Master H

Veronica answered calmly, carefully hiding her anger at the mere mention of the main reason she had ended up in this situation in the first place.Hearing her reply, Trevor felt as though the fog clouding his mind had been instantly cleared. He clearly remembered that while still in prison, the old man had told him that the only way to repay him for all the training was to take care of and

They couldn't wait to watch the show. They firmly believed that after the beating and being thrown out in a humiliating fashion with one or two broken bones, Trevor would finally realise he was no longer worthy of facing them. But the panic they expected to see on Trevor's face never surfaced. Instead, he looked at them calmly and asked, "Frederick... did you make my sister jump off a building and permanently paralyze her legs?"Hearing the question, Frederick Dunn couldn't help but sneer. "Your sister? What does she have to do with me? And who are you to question me? So what if I did? You should instead be grateful that someone from a wealthy family even took the slightest interest in your sister.""I didn't even make her jump. She did it on her own will, all because of her selfishness about sharing what she owned."Hearing his words, Trevor's expression didn't change, but his eyes

"Can you repeat... what you said?" Trevor asked, stammering not in fear, but in restrained rage."I said she is married, or getting married to Frederick Dunn today, and the wedding is being held at the End Star Hotel. Forget about her, she's not worthy of your thoughts. I'm happy you're here already."It felt like lightning struck Trevor as he stood completely still. He couldn't believe that not only had Anne left him coldly when he was sentenced to three years in prison, she had also made his sister's life miserable, lied to both of them, and then ended up with the very man who had caused all of this to him!"My hard work and reputation were ruined by you, my sister crippled and my fiancée also taken by you. If I don't take something from you then my years in prison were wasted!"Trevor's voice was so calm as he said those words that it was almost frightening.Seeing this, Diana regretted talking and immediately stretched her hands out to grab hold of his trousers."Big brother, ple

"It's your karma," Van said mockingly as the other prisoners were serving him by massaging and clipping his nails. "Only a crazy woman would date an abuser like you? You are nothing now. You have lost your job, would spend some years here, then might have no future after getting released. If I were her, I will also run away from trash like you."Trevor couldn't stand the mockery. How ironic to hear that from a crazy recidivist like him! He should look into a mirror."Why are you looking at me like that? Are you offended?" Van laughed again at him.'Don't look for another trouble, Trevor. You just need to ignore it!'There was such thought in his head, but he could barely hear it. He was truly fed up with this injustice. He was frustrated. He didn't understand why all of this had happened to him.And now, why should he do this? Why did he have to be with these bastards and obey them as a lackey? Why did he have to massage the feet of murderers, thieves, and drug dealers like them?He d
