Currently, no one but Trevor knew the tremor happening within his heart. How could he not feel it when suddenly this beautiful lady appeared from nowhere and claimed he was her betrothed husband?

He was thoroughly confused but still did not reject her words. After this was over he would definitely find out more about this so called Veronica Winchester. Wait.

Suddenly Trevor remembered that the old man from the prison shared the same last name.

"Do you happen to know an old man currently in prison who bears the same name as you?" Trevor couldn't help but ask out of curiosity.

"That's my grandfather." Veronica answered calmly, carefully hiding her anger at the mere mention of the main reason she had ended up in this situation in the first place.

Hearing her reply, Trevor felt as though the fog clouding his mind had been instantly cleared. He clearly remembered that while still in prison, the old man had told him that the only way to repay him for all the training was to take care of and protect his family, and that he would find a way to make him marry his granddaughter.

Back then Trevor had assumed the old man was joking since he hadn't even said those words seriously it had all been delivered in a light, almost teasing manner.

But now that he thought about it more carefully, if everything the man had said was true, then that also meant he had been telling the truth when he spoke of his family once being among the wealthiest in the country's capital. Due to certain complications, the old man had been forced to step down from the patriarch seat and stage his own imprisonment under the pretense of being involved in a serious case, leaving his son to assume the role of the new patriarch. However, with his son still being inexperienced in managing the family's affairs, their enemies seized the opportunity and struck hard seizing several of their businesses and forcing the family down from its once towering position to nothing more than a third grade family, ultimately compelling them to lay low and weather the storm.

Now, in an era where money alone could no longer guarantee generational wealth and security, they needed a capable martial artist as well. And that was precisely where Trevor came in.

Having thought through all of this, Trevor stood quietly a silent agreement to the marriage.

After all, he was a man of principle and would find every way possible to repay the old man for everything he had done for him. And beyond that, he was neither a fool nor blind. He had absolutely no reason to reject such a fine and beautiful woman standing right before him.

"From now on, I will be in your hands." Veronica said softly as she held out her hand.

Without hesitation, Trevor took hold of her soft, cool hand and gave a single nod.

This left everyone in the hall completely dumbfounded.

Initially they had all assumed it was some kind of bluff or passing joke, but seeing the scene now with Veronica actually allowing Trevor to hold her hand without pulling away it became very clear that this was anything but a joke.

"How can this be?!"

Anne herself couldn't comprehend what she was witnessing.

This was not the scenario she had imagined when she abandoned Trevor. He was supposed to remain poor, grinding away at some barely paying nine to five job while struggling to feed both himself and his paralyzed sister.

Not this. Not what she was seeing right now.

How had he suddenly gone and married into a wealthy family one that despite being the same third grade as the Dunn family carried far greater resources and influence and to a woman ten times more beautiful than her at that?

"Hahaha! Marriage? Who agreed to the two of you getting married?!"

With that loud, proud declaration, the hall doors were kicked violently open as a young mixed Asian-Western man with a frosty expression strode in with unmistakable arrogance.

He was tall with a lean but muscular build, dressed in a sharp British fashionable suit.

The moment he saw Trevor and Veronica standing hand in hand with no intention of letting go, his expression darkened as his gaze locked onto Trevor with killing intent rising visibly behind his eyes.

"Do you want to die? If not, let go of her hand this minute!"

Hearing those words and sensing the killing intent radiating off the man, Trevor couldn't help but frown slightly as he looked him up and down. "And you are...?"

"You don't need to know who I am. All you need to know is that she is my woman, and no one touches my woman."

"Your woman?" Trevor's expression carried genuine confusion. "I'll ask again. Who are you?"

Hearing the complete and utter indifference in Trevor's tone, Michael Han felt his killing intent surge even further. "You must truly be tired of living to be this disrespectful!"

His words thundered throughout the hall, plunging everyone into immediate silence. It felt as though the temperature of the room had dropped several degrees all at once, sending a deep chill penetrating straight into the bones of every person present.

Everyone within this banquet hall today was either a prominent figure or held connections to one. So technically, every single person in the room knew exactly who Michael Han was.

Everyone except Trevor, who genuinely did not.

That was because while the Winchester and Dunn families were both third grade families, the Han family was a top tier first grade family.

Throughout Light City and across most of the country, the influence of the Han family alone surpassed the combined influence of both the Winchester and Dunn families put together.

Michael Han was the young master of the Han family, meaning his reputation was anything but small. He was also an exceptionally talented martial artist, making him one of the most prominent figures among the younger generation. His current power level remained unknown to outsiders, which only made him appear all the more mysterious and formidable.

"Young Master Han! I sincerely apologize for not welcoming you properly!" Patriarch Patrick Dunn immediately bowed, showing a level of courtesy he hadn't even extended to Veronica earlier.

He had never expected his son's wedding to attract such a prominent figure. Even though it was clearly not the wedding itself that had drawn him here, his mere presence was more than enough to add a touch of prestige to the occasion.

To outsiders this display might have seemed like unnecessary submission. After all, the Dunn family was a prominent family in their own right. Why bow to anyone?

But the truth was that before the Han family, they were nothing more than ants in wealth, in influence, and in connections alike.

Michael Han didn't spare Patrick Dunn so much as a glance. His eyes remained fixed entirely on Trevor.

"Boy, didn't you hear me? You have five seconds to let go of her hand."

"You're giving me orders now?" Trevor replied with a calm sneer. Then, deliberately and without breaking eye contact, he moved his hand from Veronica's and placed it firmly around her waist instead provocation written plainly across his face.
