Chapter 25. Midnight Torment

Groaning in pain, Chase got on his feet, and his hands involuntarily flew to his bleeding and aching chest. Taking a deep breath, his body trembled as sharp excruciating pain rippled in his chest. The fear that what had happened to Chloe might happen to him ignited a fever in him.

Staggering away, aiming for the exit, blood was dropping randomly on the floor.

At this point, the monster's eyes flung open.

Chase plumped into his vehicle and shut the door faintly. Inserting the car key, his hand was twitching such that the key fell off.

The monster had got out of Mr. Halls' office and was licking the blood on the floor, grunting ferociously all along, following the blood imprints till it arrived at the exit. Mouth wide, it let out a ferocious howl that drove chills down Chase's spine and he quickly turned the key but the engine didn't respond.

'Oh no! No no no! Not now!'

With a fit of panic and alarm, Chase was turning the key left to right, and furiously banging on the steering, "Com'n!
