Kelvin's Pov
The world comes back in fragments.
First, the pain is sharp and burning, like my body is being torn apart. Then, the growls, low and guttural, vibrating through the air. I open my eyes, and the sight of the dogs lunging at me sends a jolt of adrenaline through my veins.
But something’s different.
The weakness that had left me helpless is gone. In its place is a surge of energy so intense it feels like my blood is on fire. The ring on my finger pulses with a faint, otherworldly glow, and my mind is flooded with knowledge, ancient, profound, and overwhelming. Cultivating techniques, combat forms, and secrets I can’t even begin to understand.
Before I can process any of it, the dogs attack.
Their teeth gleam in the dim light, their snarls deafening. But I don’t freeze. My body moves on its own, faster than I thought. I kick, and the sound of bones shattering echoes through the cage. The dogs collapse, whimpering, their aggression replaced by fear.
I stare at my hands, trembling not from weakness but from the sheer force of what I’ve just done. My strength has increased a hundredfold, no more.
“What the hell is happening to me?” I whisper, my voice barely audible over the ringing in my ears.
Before I can even begin to make sense of it, the sound of helicopter blades cuts through the air. I look up as several helicopters descend, their searchlights blinding. The cage door creaks open, and a woman steps inside.
She’s stunning but in an almost intimidating way. Her sharp features are framed by jet-black hair, and her eyes are cold and calculating. She’s dressed in a sleek black suit, and the way she carries herself screams authority. Behind her, a group of subordinates follows, their expressions unreadable.
The woman stops a few feet away from me and bows. “Kelvin,” she says, her voice smooth but devoid of warmth. “We’ve been searching for you the son of the king of the world.”
I blink, my mind struggling to catch up. “Who are you? What’s going on?”
“My name is Lydia,” she replies, straightening. “I serve your father.”
“My… father?” The word feels foreign on my tongue. I haven’t called anyone that in years.
Lydia nods. “Your father is the most powerful man in the world. And you, Kelvin, are his son.”
I laugh, a bitter, disbelieving sound. “You’ve got the wrong guy. I’m an orphan. I don’t have a father.”
Her expression doesn’t change. “You’ve been kept hidden for your protection. But now, it’s time for you to take your rightful place.”
I want to argue, to tell her she’s crazy, but the ring on my finger pulses again as if confirming her words. My mind races. Is this why I’ve always felt like I didn’t belong? Why I’ve been alone my entire life?
“Prove it,” I say, my voice steady despite the storm.
Lydia gestures toward the helicopters. “Come with me, and I’ll take you to him.”
I hesitate, but what other choice do I have? I follow her, my mind a whirlwind of questions.
The flight is a blur. The city lights fade into the distance as we soar over mountains and forests, finally landing on a sprawling estate that looks like something out of a movie. The mansion is massive, and its architecture is both modern and imposing.
Lydia leads me inside, through halls lined with priceless art and guarded by men in black suits. Finally, we reach a set of double doors. She pushes them open and steps aside, gesturing for me to enter.
The room is dimly lit, the air thick with the scent of leather and cigars. A man stands by the window, his back to me. He’s tall, his presence commanding even in silence.
“Kelvin,” he says, his voice deep and resonant. “I’ve waited a long time for this moment.”
He turns, and I see my own eyes staring back at me. His face is older, lined with the weight of power and responsibility, but there’s no mistaking the resemblance.
“You’re… my father?” I ask, my voice barely above a whisper.
He nods. “I am. And I’m sorry I couldn’t be there for you. But I had to keep you hidden. My enemies would have used you against me.”
I shake my head, still struggling to process this. “Why now? Why reveal yourself after all these years?”
“Because it’s time,” he says, stepping closer. “You’ve proven yourself stronger than I ever imagined. That ring, it was your mother’s. It was designed to awaken your true potential when the time was right. And now, it has.”
“My mother…” I trail off, my chest tightening.
“She’s gone,” he says, his voice softening. “But she loved you more than anything. And she wanted you to have this.”
He hands me a black card, its surface sleek and weighty. “This is yours. Use it as you see fit. But know this, Kelvin, you are my heir. The next King of the World. And it’s time for you to take your place.”
I stare at the card, my mind reeling. “What does that even mean?”
“It means,” he says, his tone firm, “that you will take over Eclipse Group, one of the most powerful organizations in the city. Lydia will assist you as CEO. Together, you will expand our influence and secure our legacy.”
I look at Lydia, who gives me a curt nod. Then I look back at my father. “And if I don’t want this?”
He smiles, but there’s no warmth in it. “You don’t have a choice, Kelvin. This is who you are. This is your destiny.”
The weight of his words settles over me like a heavy blanket. I don’t know if I’m ready for this. I don’t know if I even want it. But one thing’s clear: my life will never be the same.
And as I clutch the blac
k card in my hand, I can’t help but wonder what kind of man I will become.

Chapter 149: The Price of Bullets
Kelvin's POV The room feels too small, too suffocating, like the walls themselves are leaning in to watch me break. Justin’s gun gleams under the fluorescent lights, its barrel pressed hard against Brianna’s temple. Her face is pale, her eyes swollen with terror, and her lips tremble as she whispers my name like a prayer.“Drink it,” Justin growls, shaking the glass bottle of poison in my direction. His smile is wicked, stretched too wide, like a mask sewn into his flesh. “One swallow, Kelvin. Just one. Or she dies here and now.”My hand hovers in the air as I stare at the poison. It’s thick, swirling like liquid death. I reach out, fingers brushing the bottle’s cool surface. My stomach twists into knots, bile rising in my throat. If I drink it, Brianna lives. Every second that passes feels like a blade twisting deeper.I try to shove past the police at the entrance. “Let me through. He needs me in there!”A uniformed officer blocks me with a firm hand. “Sir, you can’t. It’s too dangerous. We’ve got strict orders”I cut him off, rage spilling out of me. “Orders? He’s in there facing Justin alone! He’s walking into death, and you expect me to stand here and do nothing?”Behind me, I hear Lydia’s voice, cracked and broken. She’s sobbing, begging the officers just as desperately. “Please, you don’t understand. That man in there Kelvin he’s everything. I

Chapter 146: The Cornered Wolf
