Breaths were caught in lungs. The attack merged neatly into the air. Barely enough for the air to trace.

Fear struck into the heart but Adrain remained casual, like he wasn't even faced by any threats at all.

The massive dorm attacked, like a thousand punches launched at one person from all directions.

But Adrain only struck a blow. It tore right through the formation, shattering it right at the core.

People were sent flying off from all sides and they didn't stop until they collided with the harsh walls, it was deadly.

Groans and painful shrieks filled the hall and the crowd was left speechless.

Some dared to stand up but their organs had been liquidated. Their heartbeats slowed down and they could barely move from the spot.

The crowds blinked their eyes multiple times. Some even pitched themselves to ascertain if all of this was real or if it was just a dream after all.

But the sight remained. It was all true.

"Who... Who is he?" The words broke into multiple stutters and the crowd could only dare to whisper in fright.

"The deadly warrior of the Halts family was all destroyed in whimp!"

Phones flashed from pockets. Those who were bold enough dared to take pictures and post them online.

The Internet was instantly flipping and buzzing. They didn't dare to believe this.

Comments flagged online like a stream of water even though the pictures had been sent in the dead of night.

[ Who is he ], one person commented on the photos.

[ Really? Are you seriously going to believe that a person single-handedly defeated the guards of the Halt family? You people are so gullible! ] Another hissed in the comments.

[ Exactly. If such a person is excited. Why aren't they getting contracts from guilds? How come there are just randomly seeing them? These pictures are fabricated! ]

More and more messages flung. The systems are even bugging and freezing to accommodate the bulk of it.

Han's phone kept buzzing and bleeping with tons of messages that only seemed to increase his ever-growing range.

Fear crept into his heart once. 'What if Adrain was actually someone powerful?'

'Someone wealthy who just came into the city, acting in a disguise!' His mind flared up with multiple thoughts but he soon tossed them off.

It was impossible. If any such person was excited, then his family would have gotten the intel the moment they stepped their foot into Hillcrest. The city was no secret.

He stared at Adrian once again. He could only feel anger. The anger of being humiliated before such a large crowd.

He wanted revenge. To watch Adrian pay for the humiliation that he has caused today and there was only one way that he could make that happen.

Han quickly hopped on the stage, lunged at Elara with a pocket knife. His movements were so Swift that no one had detected it until he had gotten to her.

"You're the reason for all this. You're the one he's trying to help. Let's see how he would feel when all these petty efforts of his go to waste!"

Adrain turned at the sound of Elara's shriek. His eyes instantly darkened at the sight

The calm expression had turned into something demonic. The air drew cold but Han could feel a burning heat on his body only from Adrain's gaze. It was frightening but he didn't stop clutching Elara's neck with the knife.

The crowd suffered the impact as the aura suffocated the air from their lungs and their heart pounded fiercely against their chest.

"You think you won didn't you!" Han scowled. Disdain filtered through his tone.

"But no one can win against the Heart family!"

"Besides, I would be doing the world a favour.. Knocking off this ugly duckling freon existence!"

Adrain's eyes flared the moment the knife moved closer to Elara's neck.

A minute he was far away from Han and the next, he was right beside him. Their eyes interlocked and with just a stare, Han was paralyzed.

Then; Snap.

Adrain caught his right hand and twisted it. His bones cracked and a scream of agony was heard through the hall.

Adrain threw him to the ground, his face deeply. For the first time since he was born, Adrain felt the cold taste of fear in his throat.

He strolled backwards in pain as Adrain stepped forward.

"Demon! Don't come close to me! You don't know who I am.

You don't know what my family could do to you if you dare to hurt me. Back down now and maybe you could get a merciful death!"

The crowd expected him to stop. Adrain had already won, he didn't want to anger the Halts even further by hurting Han.

"What's he doing? Why isn't he stopping already!" The crowd murmured.

"First! I don't give a dime about who your family is and secondly, you should have thought of that before daring to attack another human!" Adrain's feet crashed into his legs, separating them from his body.

The crowd shrank in total horror as Han's yells filtered through the hall.

"You should thank your stars that you are alive!" Adrain glared before turning away.

A few moments later, a group of guards came over and picked his body away from the hall.

Everyone had already run away frightened, and Adrain was left with Elara. He tried untying her but she stopped him, her hands gently placed on his soft skin.

"Why; why did you risk your life to help me?" She inquired with a deep wave of emotions twisting into her eyes.

"You will not understand now! I owe you a favor!" He could not tell her his true identity yet. There was a lot of danger lurking in the shadows and it would be better if she didn't know.

"All you need to know is that I'm going to help you become the Elara Lart you once were!"

“You will find out soon…” Adrian retorted after a while, and then he turned to the right angle, gesturing with his fingers.Instantly, a bullet flew from that angle, piercing through the skull of one of the soldiers standing next to Marcus, causing the enemy soldier to fall instantly and drop dead. This made Marcus gasp, and he let go of Bianca without knowing it, his eyes moving around while he tried to get a grip on himself. His breath was shaky, and even though it didn’t look like he was about to run, it was obvious that he was threatened, his eyes wide with shock.Bianca had refused to stop screaming, covering her ears as she stared at the dead soldier whose blood was everywhere. “What did you just do?!” Marcus asked angrily, glaring at Adrian who scoffed at him.The Shadow Monarch took a step forward, and then he cleared his throat, eyes shining with a sneer. “I have about eight snipers everywhere, General Marcus. That one didn’t miss…” He pointed to an angle, and when Marcus l

He waited for Adrian to turn to look at him, eager to call out to him again just in case he was not going to give him a response. The Shadow Monarch turned to look at him, staring deep into his eyes. He could see that he was not just scared but uncertain of the outcome of their adventure. He took a deep breath, then he inched closer to him before whispering only to his hearing.“Nothing is going to happen to your sister, Commander. You have my word…” That was all he needed to say for Rylan to nod in response, taking a deep breath.“I trust you…” The Commander stated, and even though his voice was a bit shaky, the fact that he was very certain of the words Adrian said to him was vividly written all over his face. Turning to look at Marcus, the Commander grunt

There was no response, and even though he was not the only one interested to knowing who that was, every other person chose silence, staring with wide eyes. They watched as the person was dragged, all the efforts made to break free was futile. The silent grunt and muffled screaming made it impossible to try to discover who it was, but it didn’t look like that was going to remain a secret for a long time.Marcus pointed to a spot, and without delay, his soldiers dragged the fellow to his front and forced him to kneel before him. The General nodded in satisfaction, and then he lifted his face to look at Adrian, holding onto his sinister smile. “What is this?” Adrian asked impatiently, his expression dark and annoyed. But it took a while before Marcus could give him a response, and

The Commander took a deep breath, and after a few seconds, he cleared his throat, reaching for his mind to get a suitable response. “With this situation, My liege…” He broke his silence, forced to clear his throat when he realized that his voice was cracked. “I know that Gusto hates me because he thinks I killed Amira, but I do not want to fight with him. I love Samara, and I want to get married to her as soon as all of this is over. She has agreed, but she is worried that her brother might not approve…” He paused just to be certain that Adrian was paying attention, and that his plain countenance was not a sign of disinterest to what he was saying. “Do this for me and I will be very grateful, my liege…” He bowed, showing utmost reverence and plea. “Maybe I will consider retiring and finally have a fam

Severally, the Commander had turned to look at the Shadow Monarch, and even though he said nothing, his silence echoed with some of the feelings from the thoughts that roamed inside his mind.He looked like he was about to speak a lot of times, but before Adrian could turn to look at him, he moved his eyes away, turning to look at the road ahead of them.At some point, he was staring at the car behind them, but it was hard to tell if he was staring at Gusto or Samara. “Commander?” Adrian called out to him after he had waited for him to speak, and then he stayed silent for a while, waiting for him to face him. “Out with it already…” Adrian arched his brows and only looked away from the Commander each time he wanted to look at the road.Rylan took a deep breath, and when that didn’t seem li

CHAPTER HUNDRED AND FIFTY-ONE Gusto looked at his sister for a while, and then he sighed, nodding slowly. “Fine…” He decided to let go, but that was for that moment.Turning to face the Commander again, he snorted, glaring him directly in the eyes.“We are going to continue this fight when Marcus is dead. Enjoy your life while you can…” That was a very serious threat that Rylan was not going to let slide easily, but the only reason why he didn’t say anything was that the Shadow Monarch was standing right there. He took a deep breath, turning to Adrian with a deadpan expression that appeared after he had sighed heavily. “I am sorry, my liege…” He apologized, bowing slowly. Adrian nodded, and after taking a deep breath, he turned to face Gusto, piercing into his eyes. “We are running late, guys. We don’t want Marcus taking us for granted…” His words was meant to be a reminder of what was at stake, but Gusto didn’t look like he was ready to make any move, holding onto the sinister
