They arrived at an old mansion. It was large but almost empty and it was at the perfect location just beside the sea.

Adrain carried Elara in his hands, her soft body brushing against her skin. She might have a disfigured face but her body was still as soft and perfect, and even for a disciplined man like himself, it was difficult to resist.

He took her into a room, and Elara's breath was arched deeply.

She was placing her life in the arms of a stranger for a single act of kindness. But this single act was more than anyone that wasn't her family member had ever done for her before.

The room was finely cleaned and the bed well prepared.

"Do you intend to make me a maid?" That was the highest that Elara could assume.

She had not seen any servants since they walked into the place for such a tall and big mansion. Maybe this would be her way of repaying Adrian for his act of kindness.

But much to her confusion, Adrain chuckled.

"No! You're not here to do the dishes and wash the plates, you're here for something totally different!" He placed her on the bed gently.

"Different?" Her heart seemed to shift from its initial position and her heart hammered against her chest as multiple thoughts immediately stormed heavily into her mind.

Even though she was disfigured, she was still keeping her dignity, hoping for the perfect man who would get married to her, even though this wish seemed far-fetched.

Elara quivered violently. The weight of which caused the ground under Adrain's feet to tremble.

He could feel the weight of her fear lingering in her heart.

"I want to heal your face and make you back to normal!" She paused at those words.

And then, her laughter cuts through the air like a whip. Was she supposed to believe those words?

Her family had tried everything possible. Taken her to multiple physicians and doctors, spent millions of dollars and they could not even ease the pain from the scar that she felt every day.

And Adrain claiming to have the remedy? Elara instantly giggled.

He might even look remotely like a martial artist due to his firm build and muscles. But a healer? Adrian didn't even come close.

"After your little scene with Han, I would say I appreciate your sense of dark humor!" She laughed out loud.

However, watching Adrian's expression that didn't flinch, she paused. Seriousness burned deep into his looks.

"Wait! You're serious?" Her brows were slightly cocked in a questioning manner.

Adrian nodded. A whirlwind of emotions stormed into Elara's chest. Her eyes filled with them.

She turned to Adrain, schooling her looks back into neutrality. "I truly appreciate the kind gesture. But there's no need to waste your time! This face of mine could only take a divine miracle to heal!" She hinted.

"Then consider me your Angel!" Adrian smiled.

Then his face drew serious again. He drew closer to Elara and held her hands closely, staring into her eyes with warmth.

"Just let me try. A few days of trust is all that I ask for!" He said.

Elara paused, as though she was running the words through her thoughts multiple times.

Then with a sigh, she nodded her head. It was only due courtesy for the one who had saved her from someone as powerful as Han.

"Okay!" She admitted defeat. "But you would not say that I didn't warn you!" She added.

Adrian nodded. He disappeared only to appear a few moments later with a box in his hands, he rested Elara's back on the soft pillows and started pulling the lace of her clothes.

She froze instantly. But somewhere between the way he was so gentle, she trusted him.

But that trust was gradually beginning to slip away as he peeled through every layer of the clothes.

'Nobody told me that such a technique of Medicine exists!' The thoughts clammed into her mind as her face burned bright red.

At last, she peeled off from the bed, the whole of her being shaking.

"What are you doing? Is this a new branch of science?"

"It has always existed. But only administered by a few!" Adrain responded with a smirk.

He could sense the worries in her voice so he brought out the medicine from the box.

"I was about to apply it!"

Elara after a long pause finally nodded and headed back to the bed.

"This would hurt a little!" He noted.

"A little!" Elara responded.

She thought he was being playful again until the substance splashed on her bare skin.

It burned, like red lava had just been placed on her body. The clothes in the area instantly evaporated.

No wonder he had to remove her clothes. She took a pillow and gagged it into her mouth. His gentleness and soft words could not soften the pain that gushed through every bit of her body and when she could no longer stand it, she passed out.

-------------

Day after day, Adrain would apply the mixture to her face, and her body gradually adapted to the pain.

She no longer felt stalked naked around Adrain, walking around in his oversized shirts.

The day sped off into weeks. No one had treated her with so much care in the longest time.

And Elara despite the pain was beginning to crave every section of his gentle care. She didn't even expect the medicine to work but someone caring about her after being disregarded by everyone was more than she could ask for.

Then after a month, Adrian brought her to a room. Her face had always been tied after every section.

"The treatment is complete!" Elara's heart instantly collapsed.

It didn't work out and she was about to lose moments with this gentle heart. She didn't know how to react, and only stood there frozen.

Meanwhile, Adrain gradually peeled off layers of clothes from her face. Her eyes squeezed as light hit them for the first time. They were in a mirror room, and a figure was standing before her, with spotless skin.

Elara froze. Tracing her face in the total area. There were no rough areas, no pain. She tried to speak but her Jaw slacked instead.

"That's... That's me?" It was the only word that she could gasp between her shocks.

Silently, his heart thudded, his eyes attempting to steal a glance at Adrian. “I am sorry for my lateness, my liege.” He added, worried that he may have aroused the anger of the Shadow Monarch. Adrian sighed softly, and then he leaned forward, taking a deep breath. “Get up, Commander Rylan.” He said exactly what the commander had hoped for since his back was beginning to make him feel very strange. “Thank you, my liege,” Rylan grunted as soon as he stood erect, and then it was time for him to expect the reason why he had been summoned. He could only stare at Adrian for a couple of seconds before he eventually looked away, careful of every action he made. Adrian stood up from the chair that almost looked like

Adrian sighed heavily, and then he cleared his throat, his expression plain and unreadable. “That’s because this is very personal for me, Maya.” He finally broke his silence, but the lady still needed to understand what he meant, staring with her brows furrowed. It almost seemed as though she needed to beg for a response, but just before she was ready to break the silence, Adrian continued with a low but audible tone. “I was forced out of this City by the same people who killed your husband, Maya.” Adrian paused for a while, veins of an

It will help with your mother.” “Yes!” At the mention of his mother, Seth sprang up from the bed, rushing out of the room at once.He moved as though he knew where he was, but Adrian was not so much bothered.“He seems smart.” He whispered, certain that he was going to be able to carry out the task.Maya was no longer jerking, but her condition had not become any better. CHAPTER NINETY-THREE Adrian was already on his way toward Maya and Seth, and without him having to say it, the little boy and his mother got up from their knees, their terrified countenance replaced by beams of hope. Maya sighed heavily, and soon, she was smiling just like her son. “Get into the car…” Adrian said calmly to them, unlocking the car with the car remote that was tightly gripped in his right hand. Maya led her son into the backseat, and Seth sat down quietly, looking around with obvious signs that it was the first time he was getting into a car. His wide eyes glittered with marvel and excitement, his lips refusing to seal as the interior of the expensive car wowed him.He didn’t just get to be in any car, but a luxurious one that instantly pushed several thoughts into his mind. “I will buy this type of car for you, Mummy.” He turned to Maya, smiling with a firm resilience and determination.Maya chuckled softly, but the next second, the brightness on her face vanishe

“No!” Maya screamed as soon as she saw that Adrian had fallen to the ground. Tears fell from her eyes, and left with the tough decision of either leaving her son to run after him or protecting him, she watched from a distance, sniffling loudly.“Please, don’t die.” She prayed silently, watching as the source of her freedom lay still on the ground. Brymo and his men were already rejoicing, cheering as they looked at Adrian who was still on the ground for over a minute. “The bastard is dead, Boss!” One of the men said to Brymo, and then he began to walk toward Adrian. He kicked his leg as soon as he was close enough, and after getting no reaction from him, he inched closer, looking downward at his face. He kept his eyes on Adrian’s face for a while, just to be certain that he was no longer breathing.“I think he is dead, Boss!” He announced happily, turning to face their leader. Brymo nodded, his eyes still on Adrian.“Serves him right!” He snorted, limping toward the body. “I ho
