"Keep running!" Tyrion shouted over the roaring wind.

Tyrion sprinted along the edge of the high stone wall. His dark cloak flapped wildly behind him. He did not look back. He leaped over a wide gap between two guard towers, landing perfectly on the slippery stones on the other side.

Yuchen jumped right after him. The merchant landed with a heavy thud, his boots splashing in the deep puddles. Seraphina jumped last. She barely made it. Her boots slipped on the wet stone, and she almost fell back

The heavy metal door of the hidden bunker groaned open.Tyrion stepped inside first. He pulled off his dark glasses and tossed the black silk cloak onto a nearby chair. Seraphina walked in right behind him. She dropped her heavy iron pipe onto the concrete floor with a loud clang. They were standing in a forgotten maintenance tunnel beneath an abandoned Los Angeles college campus, far below the ruined dormitories.Yuchen sat up on his makeshift cot. His face was pale. The blue glow of his system interface flickered dimly in the dark room."Report," Yuchen said. His voice was hoarse and dry."Mission accomplished," Tyrion said. He leaned against the concrete wall and crossed his arms. "The King's enforcers took the bait. The whole army is chasing two empty horses down the south road right now. The north gate is clear.""The tactical execution was flawless?" Yuchen asked, looking at Seraphina.Seraphina wiped a smear of dirt from her cheek. "It worked. We hit the checkpoint, caused a me

  • CHAPTER 108

The cold wind howled through the empty wooden stalls of the abandoned farmer's market.Tyrion crouched in the dark shadows. He adjusted the fake dark glasses on his nose. He pulled the black silk cloak tightly around his shoulders."Take the brown cloak off," Tyrion whispered without looking back.Behind him, Seraphina reached up and untied the heavy, dirty wool cloak. She let it fall into the mud. She pulled the gray cap off her head. Her bright silver hair fell down her back. Even in the dim moonlight, her silver-mithril armor glowed with a soft, beautiful light."I am ready," Seraphina said. She drew the broken iron pipe she had kept from the fortress. It was not a sword, but it was heavy and deadly in her trained hands."The plan is simple," Tyrion said quickly, his voice sharp and focused. "We hit the guard post. We make a massive mess. We let them see my glasses and your armor. Then, we steal two horses from their picket line and ride straight south. We do not stop until the ent

The next evening, the sun slowly disappeared behind the dark, jagged mountains. The sky turned a deep, bruised purple.Inside the hidden underground cave, Seraphina and Tyrion prepared to leave. They could not walk out looking like a silver knight and a famous rogue. The city was completely crawling with royal guards.Tyrion threw a heavy, dirty brown wool cloak at Seraphina. It smelled like wet dogs and old smoke."Put this on," Tyrion ordered. "Wrap it tightly around your chest. Hide the silver armor. If a single piece of mithril shines in the moonlight, we are completely dead."Seraphina caught the dirty cloak. She did not complain. She wrapped it tightly around her shoulders. She pulled a thick, gray cloth cap completely over her head, hiding every single strand of her bright silver hair. She rubbed a handful of black fireplace ash onto her pale cheeks to hide her noble, clean skin.Tyrion looked at her and nodded. "Good. You look like a poor, dirty farm boy. No one will look twic

  • CHAPTER 106

Tyrion left the hidden underground cave early that morning. He did not wear his dark gray rogue cloak. That would be completely stupid. Instead, he wore a simple, dirty brown wool shirt and a flat cap. He looked exactly like a poor, boring farmer. He walked into the nearby border city. The streets were completely packed with royal soldiers. The King had turned the entire city into a massive military camp.Tyrion kept his head down. He walked slowly through the busy market square. He stopped near a large stone fountain. Glued to the stone were dozens of fresh wanted posters.Tyrion looked at them. The first poster was a perfect drawing of Yuchen. It showed his cold face and his cracked dark glasses. The reward was now raised to one thousand gold coins. The second poster showed Seraphina, the runaway silver knight. But the third poster made Tyrion smirk. There was no face on the third poster. It was just a black silhouette. The words below it read: *Unknown Rogue. Highly dangerous. Wear

4 DAYS LATER"I am glad you are awake, shopkeeper," Tyrion said coldly. "Because we have a massive problem. My scouts just returned. The King did not just send guards to the fortress. He sent the entire western army. They are searching the forest right now."Yuchen’s golden eyes narrowed. He immediately opened his system interface.[MANA CORE CAPACITY: 30%.][PHYSICAL STAMINA: 40%.][WARNING: WRATH PROTOCOL UNAVAILABLE.]"My power is very low," Yuchen stated flatly, looking at Tyrion. "I cannot fight an entire army. I need time to recharge.""We do not have time!" Tyrion snapped. "They have tracking dogs. They have blood-mages. They will find this cave in a few hours. We have to move right now.""Can you walk, client?" Yuchen asked, looking at Seraphina.Elara the healer stepped forward. "I wrapped her broken ribs tightly. She can walk, but she cannot fight. If she swings a sword, her ribs will puncture her lungs.""I can walk," Seraphina said bravely. She slowly stood up. She winced

Seraphina slowly pulled her face back. Her lips left his. She opened her bright blue eyes. Her face was completely covered in dark dirt, dried blood, and terrible purple bruises, but she looked incredibly beautiful. Her cheeks turned a bright, burning red.For a second, the underground cave was completely silent. Then, Seraphina began to laugh. It was a soft, joyful, and completely honest laugh. Tears of pure happiness streamed down her face, washing away the dirt on her cheeks. She could not stop smiling. Her heart was beating so fast it felt like it was going to jump right out of her chest."I am so sorry," Seraphina laughed, wiping her wet eyes with the back of her dirty hand. "I am sorry, Yuchen. I know you hate unpredictable variables. I know you do not like emotions. But I just... I thought you were dead. I am just so happy."Yuchen lay on the hard stone table. He was completely frozen. His golden eyes were wide open in absolute shock. He slowly raised his right hand and touched
