Jasper his eyes just landed on a woman standing a few meters away, she was with a couple, attending to them, his entire body stiffened, and his eyes widened in disbelief.

“Claire...” he muttered.

Claire had been high school classmates. Back then, Jasper's family had been ordinary, and no matter how hard he worked, he could never compete socially with the wealthy heirs around him.

He had even been bullied occasionally, but among that privileged crowd, Claire had been practically the only person who never looked down on him.

Whenever others mocked him, she would quietly help him. Offered her with his note, assignment, and even played with him.

Those moments had meant everything to him. He had remained deeply etched in his heart, making it impossible for him not to develop feelings for her.

Yet the gap between their family backgrounds had always been enormous. Claire's family was very rich!.

Jasper understood that no matter how hard he tried, reaching her world would be difficult, so after graduating from high school, he buried those feelings, without confessing it!.

College was a struggle for him. He struggled to pay off his student loan and worked tirelessly, while Claire went abroad to continue her studies. Eventually, the distance between them became too great, and they lost contact completely.

In his previous life, the next time Jasper heard her name, it was through devastating news.

Claire had committed suicide.

The moment he heard it, Jasper had been completely shattered. He couldn't accept that the girl who had once smiled so warmly at him had ended her own life, so he desperately investigated what had happened after they lost contact.

The husband gave her a casual nod before stepping into the elevator first. Claire smiled politely at him, maintaining the professional courtesy. The elevator got closed and carried the husband.

Jasper took a deep breath as he watched her. She was now just an ordinary employer in the securities firm.

Fortunately, he was now in a position to become one of her major clients.

Just as he was about to approach her, however, the atmosphere suddenly changed.

The man's wife, who had been standing beside the elevator, abruptly turned around.

Her expression darkened. Without warning, she raised her hand and slapped Claire across the face.

The sound echoed through the lobby.

“You shameless bitch! How dare you seduce my husband!”
