Chapter 10.
That night, Nolan stood alongside Ralph in the quiet halls of the mansion. The two of them stopped in front of a wooden door before Nolan raised his hand and knocked. For a moment, they waited in silence. Then the door creaked open slowly, revealing Issabella, her eyes half-lidded with sleep as she rubbed her temple. “This better be important,” she muttered. “May we?” Ralph asked, gesturing inside. “Yeah, sure.” She stepped aside, opening the door wider to let them in before closing it behind them. She walked back toward her bed, her movements slow and tired. “So how can I help the two of you this late at night?” Nolan took a seat on a nearby couch, his posture calm but his expression serious. “I have a task that will require you and Ralph to work together… but that’s not the main reason I’m here.” “Then get to the one that brought you here,” Issabella replied. “Alright.” Nolan leaned forward slightly, his gaze sharpening. “I want us to head to the Cave of Forgotten Dreams in the next few weeks.” Silence filled the room—then Issabella shot up immediately. “What?!” She rushed to the door and flung it open, forcing a strained smile onto her face. “I think drowsiness has gotten to you, young lord. Why not go get some rest? If you say something like that tomorrow… maybe I’ll take you seriously.” But her body betrayed her. Her shoulders were stiff, her breathing uneven, and the hand gripping the doorknob trembled despite her effort to stay composed. Nolan noticed everything. Without saying a word, he stood and walked past her. As he stepped through the doorway, he cast her a brief glance before continuing down the hall. Ralph followed behind him in silence. The moment they left, the door slammed shut. Inside, Issabella stood frozen. Her fists clenched tightly at her sides, her body shaking as tears slowly fell from her eyes. “Young master…” Ralph spoke carefully as they walked. “Do you know the danger of going to that place?” Nolan stopped, his eyes lingering on the closed door behind them. “I know,” he said quietly. “But if I don’t go there soon… something bad will happen. I can feel it.” His gaze hardened slightly. “This is the only way to save him.” “Come,” he added after a moment, turning away. “Let’s head back.” By morning, Nolan was already at the training ground, practicing his magic alone. Sweat clung to his skin as he repeated the same motions over and over, pushing himself without rest. Footsteps approached. He turned slightly as three figures entered—Hilda in front, followed by Issabella and Ralph. “Nolan,” Hilda said bluntly. “We are heading out. Follow us.” Without waiting for a reply, she turned and walked away. Issabella stepped forward, holding a set of training gear. Without meeting his eyes, she handed them to him. “Wear this.” Nolan paused briefly, watching her. She’s not even looking at me… His thoughts stirred uneasily. Could it be something about the cave? He said nothing and began putting it on. The gear was light, made from a flexible yet durable material that clung comfortably to his body. Despite its weightlessness, it was reinforced at key points—his chest, arms, and legs—designed to absorb impact while allowing full freedom of movement. Once ready, he followed them. Hours later, the four of them arrived at a vast forest. At first glance, it looked peaceful. Towering trees stretched high into the sky, their leaves glowing a vibrant green under the sunlight. A gentle breeze carried the scent of earth and life, while birds chirped softly above. But beneath that calm lay something darker. The silence between the sounds felt unnatural. The shadows between the trees seemed too deep, and every rustle hinted at unseen eyes watching from within. This was no ordinary forest. “The three of us will observe you through this,” Hilda said, raising her staff. A translucent screen formed in the air before them, shimmering faintly. “Head deep into the forest and defeat as many monsters as you can.” Nolan stared at her for a brief moment, then turned his attention to Issabella. “Miss Roselite,” he said calmly, “I have a bet I want to place with you.” Issabella lifted her head, confused. “A bet?” “If I manage to kill two hundred monsters today, you will hear me out,” Nolan said, already beginning to walk into the forest. “Whether you choose to team up with me or not… that will be your decision.” His voice remained steady. “But if I fail…” he added without turning back, “then I’ll drop the idea completely. As if I never mentioned it.” “Wait!!” Issabella’s voice stopped him. Nolan paused but said nothing. She approached him slowly and held out a dagger. The blade was sleek and sharp, its edge gleaming faintly under the light, the grip worn from use. “I know you don’t know how to use it,” she said quietly, avoiding his eyes. “But keep it… just in case.” Her voice softened. “Survive… even if you don’t succeed with the promise…” A tear slipped down her cheek. “Just… come back in one piece.” Nolan took the dagger, his grip tightening slightly. A faint smile formed on his lips. “I never intended on losing.” And with that, he turned and walked into the forest, disappearing deeper into the shadows.Latest Chapter
The Hand of a God
Chapter 31. "What was that...?" One of Isabella's knights stared at the dimming light on the horizon, his sword hanging limp at his side, his face pale with awe. The golden radiance had faded to a faint glow, then to nothing, leaving behind only the memory of something impossible. Isabella smiled. It was small, tired, but real. She looked down from her perch in the tree and released a heavy breath, her shoulders dropping, the tension of the day finally leaving her muscles. "We rest here for the night." She jumped from the branch, landing silently on the moss below. "You all better get some rest." --- On the far end of the forest, Nolan collapsed. His body hit the ground like a puppet with its strings cut, his remaining arm flung out, his eyes rolling back. The purple flames had died. The wind had stilled. All that remained was a boy, broken and bleeding, who had given everything he had. "Master!" Xavier ran to him, sliding to his knees, his hands shaking as he checked f
Absolute Light
"Arrrggghhhhh!!!"Xavier's scream tore through the void, raw and broken, as electric shocks crawled over his body like living snakes. He fell to one knee, his head hanging low, his whole body convulsing. Around him, dozens of golden strings lay dead and dull on the black floor, their light extinguished, their magic spent."Another wrong string chosen..." The voice echoed through the darkness, dripping with mockery, with amusement, with the cruel patience of something that had watched mortals fail for centuries. "This sure is entertaining. Which one will you choose next? Another wrong string, or..."Without another thought, Xavier reached out and pulled another. It turned gray in his hand, the light dying before it could even flicker. His eyes widened, horror flooding his chest."Wrong yet again."Electricity surged through Xavier's body, ten times stronger than before. He screamed, his voice cracking, his eyes rolling back until only the whites showed. He collapsed to the ground, twit
The Burn and the Choice
'Chapter 29 The knight kept running, Nolan slung over his shoulder like a sack of grain. Blood soaked through the knight's armor, warm and sticky, painting his back in dark ribbons. Nolan's face was hidden in shadow, his eyes invisible, his body limp and silent. He had not spoken a word since they left the clearing, had not moved, had not breathed in any way that suggested consciousness. The knight ran on, branches whipping his face, roots threatening to trip him with every step. His lungs burned. His legs ached. But he did not stop. Could not stop. "Hey, you..." The voice came from behind him, low and dark and completely wrong. It did not sound like a wounded boy. It sounded like something that had crawled out of a grave and decided to keep walking. The knight paused mid-step, his eyes widening, his whole body freezing in place. "Ma... Master?" "Don't you think you've done enough running around for the day?" Nolan asked, his expression still hidden, his voice carrying an e
The Price of Survival
Chapter 28 The defense dragged on for over twenty minutes, each second stretching into eternity. Nolan stood alone in the offense, his magic tearing through the darkness, fire and wind and earth exploding from his palms in desperate bursts. Blood sprayed across the forest floor, black and red, painting the leaves in streaks of death. The lizards learned. They adapted. Their attention switched to him alone, abandoning the shielded knights to focus on the mage who burned their kin. They attacked in groups, coordinated, silent, shadows given fangs and claws. His men stepped in, defending him as much as they could, their swords flashing, their shields rising, their bodies becoming walls between their lord and the monsters."Give me your sword."Nolan didn't wait for permission. He snatched the blade from a knight's hand and stormed into the fray, his movements wild, reckless, driven by adrenaline and fear. He slaughtered lizard after lizard, steel meeting scales, magic meeting flesh. But

'Chapter 27 -"Young Master Nolan!!! Are you injured?!"One of the knights rushed over, his boots crunching through leaves, his face pale with worry. He reached out a hand, then stopped, his whole body freezing in place.Nolan slowly turned. His expression was dark and serious, his purple eyes glowing brighter than ever before, two burning embers in the shadow of the forest. He stared at the knight for a long moment, silent, assessing, seeing something the others couldn't.The knight took one step back. Blonde hair. Blue eyes. A silver piercing on his right ear catching the dim light. Young. Maybe seventeen. Scared but trying to hide it."I'm alright. Tell me... what's your name?" Nolan asked, his voice calm, cool, controlled."My name is Xavier, my lord." The knight gave a slight bow, his hand trembling at his side.Nolan's heart skipped a beat. His blood turned cold."It truly is him..." he thought, his mind reeling. "Why is he appearing so early in the book? And in this family's ho
The Shadow Looms
Chapter 26Hours passed at the far north, where Hilda and her army pushed deeper into the forest. They had cleared six stages of different beasts, each one more vicious than the last. Blood painted their armor in streaks of green, black, and crimson. Their swords dulled. Their shields cracked. But they kept moving."We stop here for now."Hilda stood at the edge of a small clearing, her eyes scanning the darkness between the trees. The forest ahead seemed to breathe, its branches swaying without wind, its roots trembling with something buried deep beneath the earth. Her men dropped to the ground, gasping, their bodies hitting the dirt with exhausted thuds."Thank the heavens above... I thought we were still going." One knight sprawled on his back, staring at the canopy, his chest heaving. Others relaxed against tree trunks, their armor clinking softly, their faces pale beneath the grime."Eat up and drink water. Tend the wounded. We head out in an hour's time." Hilda's voice was flat,
