Chapter 2 - Princess Chloe Fires her First Bullet!

[Princess Chloe is now your host!]

[You have been equipped and ready for combat!]

[Quest Complete: You have found a host!]

[Reward: You have earned Elemental Bullet!]

Those are the words registered on the windows popping up in front of me as soon as this princess holds me in her arms. Chloe’s hands are gentle. When she finally has me, Princess Chloe runs opposite from the pursuers and is now heading north. I go along with her since I don’t have any limbs.

“Are you for real, mysterious… thing? I do not understand how you can help or communicate with me. My mother told me objects are inanimate and their life is absent. But you are quite different.”

Ah, I see. This world doesn’t have any concepts of guns and other arsenals from my world. And if I were in Princess Chloe’s position as well, I would’ve freaked out and shouted the moment I heard any item talking to me. Well, it doesn’t matter. What’s important right now is to protect this princess from saving both of our lives.

Moments later, the chasers finally reveal themselves. A party of four adventurers runs in our direction, with one creature galloping in front of them. Among the four adventurers, two of them are mages. I deduce that those wizards at the backlines are responsible for the magic they cast a while back. But it seems they are not quite the sporty people, since they have been catching their breaths often, compared to the two adventurers at the front wielding a gigantic sword and a sledgehammer.

The creature accompanying the adventurers looks like a rabid hound with horns on top of its three heads, and my system claims them as monsters in this world. You have heard it right. Three heads. From what I remember, my system also calls them [Forest Cerberus]. That beast also looks like it doesn’t know any magic besides tackling its horns and its head against their target, and that target is the princess.

Princess Chloe lifts her free hand and invokes a spell. It is a wind spell. She tries blowing off the [Forest Cerberus] and the adventurers, but her efforts are futile. After a few seconds, her magic activates. But a gentle breeze emerges from her hand, creating a fan enough to blow an ant away, not the monster and the humans.

I refuse to comment on what I’ve seen, so shutting my mouth and watching the situation unfold is the only thing I can do right now.

But I still need to know about something. All I could conclude about this situation is that I am being held by this Princess and she needs to escape from these adventurers and a beast hunting her.

“So, uh, why are you being chased down by them, princess?” I ask, while defecating six bullets in her hand in a speedloader. “My name is Kuro. I am a… or was a human being until I became like this! But you can call me Kuro. As you can see, I am a gun. You can use me as a weapon, Princess, and I will protect you!”

“How do you know that monster over there is a [Forest Cerberus], mysterious gun? Nevermind... it doesn’t matter. Now is not the time for questions or sharing trivial information about each other, gun who calls himself as Kuro! But all I know is… they are after me as soon as they have killed my parents,” Princess Chloe answers, and holds back her tears. “Please tell me how we can escape them, Kuro!! I do not want to die… Not before ending this war!”

"And also, my name is Chloe. Chloe Winfort, Princess of the Winfort Kingdom," Chloe continues.

“Good point,” I reply, and finally teach her about guns. “I am a gun, and we have already established that… Basically, I am a weapon. Now, I have placed six bullets in your hand, and you need to put those shells inside me. Bullets are the ones that will hit your targets hard. Reload those bullets and then aim at the [Forest Cerberus] over there and kill it! Don’t harm the adventurers, or you’ll kill them too, unless you want to kill them. Thanks to your agility, it seems we’re going to outrun them without even taking their lives.”

By eliminating the [Forest Cerberus], I can also complete my quest and eventually evolve into a Glock-18. I am not a fan of revolvers because the host has to reload after firing one shot. And its fire rate is rubbish.

Then again, Princess Chloe has to do whatever I have right now. Although my system tells me she could summon magic, I don’t think that would be enough to kill the [Forest Cerberus]. And I have placed a choice for her to make. If this girl would ask me, I do not like the idea of taking one’s life after living peacefully in my world. Then again, this is a fantasy world with different cultures and lifestyles. Maybe killing is the only way to go. But after seeing two dead guys from before, I don’t think I could stomach another person dying before me.

Thankfully, Princess Chloe and I are on the same page. And she is disgusted at the fact of killing others to save herself.

“Yeah… I do not want to take a life. I do not want to become a murderer just like them… If I can really outrun these adventurers and only kill the [Forest Cerberus] then I will have to follow your advice!.”

Now we’re talking! As luck would have it, the revolver I am in right now has a speedloader, meaning Princess Chloe doesn’t have to put the bullets one by one. She just needs to tap the speedloader inside the revolver’s cylinder and get the job done.

“Now, the circular thing you are holding in your free hand is the speedloader. It contains six bullets, so you could, in magical terms, cast six strikes against your target before reloading, which is for later. Now, push the gun’s cylinder sideways and insert the speedloader from there. And then return the cylinder from its original place!”

Even though this is Princess Chloe’s first time handling a gun, she is a natural! The moment I tell her what she needs, Chloe performs it well, like a sheriff chasing a criminal… But ironically, the situation is reversed.

Princess Chloe taps the cylinder at the side and snugs the speedloader, filling me with juicy six bullets. A funny feeling envelops inside me. It is as if someone has inserted a big and bulky thing under my bottom, and now I am ready to ejaculate… these shells.

As soon as Princess Chloe fills me up, I am now prepared to fight.

“Okay, the tip of me is called a barrel. Aim me at the [Forest Cerberus], pull the trigger, and kill it with every bullet you have!”

“Y-You mean, like this?!”

And just like that, Chloe follows my command and quickly sets off the bullet flying in the monster’s direction. Two shots are fired after three seconds, thanks to the revolver’s fire rate. But, for now, the bullets miss. Well, I do not expect a beginner to hit her target immediately after holding a gun, so I have forgiven Chloe about it. She also applies my spell, which is [Aimbot]. Just like the meaning behind the word, it aids the user to aim more properly at the target and follow it around, akin to a game.

This time, I tell her to make every shot count. I only had four bullets inside me, and reloading could slow us down, creating a window for the [Forest Cerberus] to attack.

“BULLSEYE, PRINCESS! YOU’VE MANAGED TO HIT YOUR TARGET! WELL DONE!”

“T-Thanks, Kuro! This feels new to me! I do not know why, but this feels a lot easier than casting spells using a wand.”

“RIGHT?! I’M AWESOME, RIGHT?! I’M THE ONE WHO TAUGHT YOU!”

Another three consecutive shots are fired at the monster. Thankfully, these three bullets hit the body of the [Forest Cerberus], somewhat slowing it down. But it isn’t enough. Once the creature has recovered, it resumes its hunter phase and pursues us with an even deadlier speed.

“K-Kuro?! I only have one bullet here?! And I think this bullet will not do a thing even if it lands!”

Chloe is right. What the princess needs is to hit the bullet at the [Forest Cerberus’] head and kill it in one shot. But the shells aren’t that lethal if it hits only the body… Not yet. I haven’t evolved, so Princess Chloe is stuck with this pathetic form of mine.

But then, I have remembered something. And it is an ability I have in my arsenal.

“Princess, I believe you know how to cast other spells, right? I saw you earlier launching a spell, so I assume you could do it,” I utter.

Princess Chloe replies, “Y-Yes, Kuro! But my magic is weak! I could barely even harm the [Forest Cerberus] with my wind magic, and I still do not know how to use my element to hover me above ground! Why did you ask?”

I release a mischievous chortle and answer, “Ah, yes. Don’t worry about that! Princess Chloe, let’s try something cool. Put your mana on the bullet and think of it as a spell. So when you pull the trigger, the bullet will have an element in it! And that element you’ll be using will amplify the damage of the bullet!”

“I-I see! Very well, Kuro. I shall try what you have suggested… I hope this works.”

Princess does what I have told her and imbues magic inside me and the last shell. The [Forest Cerberus] is already in front of us, and if Princess Chloe doesn’t do anything right now, that monster would hurt her or even kill her on the spot.

But Chloe is quicker than that animal.

Just before the [Forest Cerberus] has her, Chloe puts the gun in point-blank range at the monster and pulls the trigger, blasting off the creature’s brain into a million pieces. The animal is now dead. The instant that bullet shatters the beast’s head, my system congratulates me for completing a quest. Moreover, [33 EXP] materialises on top of the monster’s corpse, and I have found 30 Credits because of it. The money I have earned is now inside me, and Chloe or I could use it for later, I guess.

And Princess Chloe is now free from the pursuers.
