"Miss Camila," James instantly broke out into a smile, hurrying up to Camila, approaching the scene slowly.

"I'm James, Son of Joe Parker," James continued, trying to flatter Camila as he stretched his hands out for a handshake.

Camila stopped in her tracks, shot James a glance, then walked past him as if she hadn't seen him.

Instantly, James' face burned, gritting his teeth as he tried to suppress the wave of embarrassment and anger that hit him.

After all, Camila's status was far above his. He had to respect her no matter what.

Taking in a deep breath, he turned around to see where she was headed only to freeze as she stopped by Leon.

"Are you good?" Camila spoke slowly, her voice low, but enough to send shock waves into the crowd.

Who here didn't know Camila. She was a cold CEO, managing the Ashford companies in the city.

Yet, she was asking a man of an unknown origin if he was okay.

Katie blinked, as she couldn't believe her ears. What in hell was happening?

How did that useless Leon know Camila?

"Miss..." Katie called slowly, but carefully.

"Need something?" Camila turned to Katie, voice cold as she glanced down at Katie.

Naturally, she knew Katie was Leon's ex-wife. She had investigated Leon's past before proceeding with the contract she offered.

"I think you have the wrong person," Katie spoke, her voice filled with bitterness as she still couldn't believe Leon knew Camila.

"That man is...."

"Are you telling me I don't recognize my husband?" Camila furrowed her brows, displeasure written all over her face.

Camila's words sent another shockwave into the crowd. What the heck was happening?

The cold CEO was married? And she even brought her husband to her grandmother's birthday banquet?

"I..." Katie stuttered, struggling to find the right words as she just couldn't believe her ears.

Leon was now Camila's husband? How did that happen? That had to be a lie, right.

"What happened here?" Camila ignored Katie and turned to the guards who were now dripping with sweat as they swallowed the lump in their throat.

They silently thanked their stars they hadn't taken sides. Else they would be in deep trouble.

"Sir was about to come in and we asked for his invitation," One of the guards explained, quickly filling Camila on what had happened.

Camila's expression darkened after hearing the explanation.

Turning to Leon, she smiled slightly,

"Sorry about that, it was my oversight, I forgot to give you an invitation, or inform the guards about your presence,"

"It's fine," Leon waved it off.

He didn't mind, the guards were just doing their jobs, and besides, they were polite and also didn't take sides even when James had tried to bribe them.

"And you James," Camila growled, her voice dropping as she glared at James who was now sweating bullets.

"If I remember correctly, your company has quite a few cooperations with my family,"

"Yes...yes..." James stuttered, trying to find the right words.

"Good, Inform your father,” Camila said coldly, “All cooperation ends today.”

Instantly, James felt his legs go weak, his eyes widening in realization of what was happening.

"And you Katie," Camila turned to Katie,

"I..."

"That's enough, don't be too harsh on them," Leon whispered, stopping Camila.

"Do you still have feelings for her?" Camila frowned slightly, glancing back at Leon.

"No, I just feel they aren't worth your time," Leon shrugged. He couldn't care less about what would happen to the two idiots anyway.

The only reason he had spoken up for Katie was because of her grandfather and the fact that the family had sheltered him for five years.

"Throw them out," Camila commanded, turning to the guards.

"Let's go in," She added, walking into the venue with Leon.

"Leon!" Katie yelled, trying to catch Leon's attention.

"Don't you......"

Katie didn't get to complete her sentence before she was dragged away by the guards.

Walking into the hall, Leon looked around, scrutinizing his surroundings.

The large hall was designed beautifully. Rows of tables and chairs with foods and drinks laid neatly.

Guests stood holding drinks as they discussed in hush voices.

The moment Camila and Leon stepped in, heads turned in their direction.

Everyone froze for a second as they couldn't believe their eyes.

Did the famous cold CEO finally have someone she liked?

Though they all thought this way and were curious about Leon's identity, none of them dared to step forward.

Leon on the other hand ignored the gazes of the crowd as he calmly made his way to a table.

Camila watched, her interest sparking up as she wondered how Leon was able to remain calm in this situation.

"Dearest sister, is this the dummy husband you found?" A loud cheerful voice came as a tall male figure strode towards Camila and Leon who was not too far from Camila.

"He's not a dummy, he's my husband," Camila stated, her voice firm as she corrected.

"Not a dummy?" The figure, Allen mused, his gaze landing on Leon, disgust written all over.

"Tell me, if he's not a dummy what is he then?" He continued,

"As far as I know, no one in Oakdale except a dummy would be willing to marry you,"

"So it was you..." Camila muttered, eyes flashing with a glint.

It was no wonder all candidate she found, either refused, or claimed they weren't good enough. Everything was Allen's doing.

"If it wasn't me, then who else," Allen burst out into another round of laughter.

"Now, that makes me wonder why he, despite all that I've said didn't listen and still went ahead to marry you." Allen said, his gaze landing on Leon this time.

"If you as much touch a hair on his head, then don't blame me for not considering you as family," Camila growled, moving closer to Leon as if to protect him.

"Chill sister, I won't do anything to him, I just want to know where he got his guts from," Allen shrugged, his gaze still on Leon.

"Sorry, but I've never heard of you, so I didn't know about it," Leon spoke, his voice calm,

“Even if I had heard of you…” Leon met his gaze calmly.

“It wouldn’t have changed anything.”

“No one decides for me.”

"Ma'am," Nora turned towards Camila who at some point had stepped out of the office."It's fine Nora," Camila nodded, her gaze landing on Leon again. This time, she was really shocked. • Enough?

Stepping out of the house, Rowan let out a slow breath and shook his head once, the air hitting his face as if to clear whatever was left behind in that place. He stood there for a moment without moving, his expression calm again, like everything that just happened had already been filed away and sealed. Then he reached into his pocket, took out his phone, and dialed a number. “Pick me up,” he said simply. “I’ll send the address.” He ended the call without waiting for a reply. Less than three minutes later, the quiet street was filled with the low hum of engines as a line of black luxury cars pulled up in perfect order, stopping neatly in front of him like a trained formation. The doors opened almost at the same time, and a man in his late forties stepped out from the front car, his posture straight, his presence steady as he walked toward Rowan. “Sir,” the man said respectfully, stopping a short distance away. “The car is ready.” Rowan didn’t respond immediately.
